One month later, he wanted to retire. But that never happened.
When Klaus-Dieter S. (65) crossed the street Täubchenweg near the Netto supermarket on his way home from a table tennis tournament in December 2019, Monmohan S. (48) hit him with his Opel Corsa car.
The pizza driver had been travelling at excessive speed in the direction of the city centre. Klaus-Dieter S. died in hospital shortly after the accident.
Now the driver of the accident has to answer for involuntary manslaughter before the district court. The Indian father of a family had expressed remorse several times, but complained to the judge that he himself had been injured in the accident and could no longer see properly.
But: The accused admitted that he had been driving again only two days after the crash, without having been treated by an ophthalmologist.
Verdict: 3 months suspended prison sentence, 6 months driving licence suspension and a 1000 euro fine.
