One of Britain’s youngest councillors has hit out at the Labour Party after a taxi racism row forced her to leave.

Daily Blakemore-Creedon, 19, was accused of racism after calling for CCTV to be installed in minicabs.

She has since quit as one of Labour’s local councillors alleging she has “sustained bullying and marginalisation within the group”.

The councillor, who joined Labour aged 14, joined Charlie Peters and Miriam Cates for her first interview since her departure.

She admitted the ordeal “hurt” her, but has vowed to continue her CCTV campaign.

“I have felt very hurt about the situation and the way the Labour Party regionally have treated me”, she said.

“I feel as though I was considered to be naive and underestimated but I think my resignation shows that is not the case.

“I will fight for injustices and things I feel are truly right.”

Speaking about some of the reactions she had after proposing the motion in Peterborough, she said: “The responses weren’t great from the Labour group.

“It went to a licensing committee. We had a message put in saying ‘well done, we are going to lose our seats in Park East and so-forth’, it’s true they are all Pakistani taxi driver heavy.”

Blakemore-Creedon alleged that fellow Labour members were more concerned about losing votes than they were engaging with local concerns.

She continued: “I received a message the other day after my resignation which said, ‘you have been betrayed for votes’. That hurts. My morals have always been with the Labour Party.”

The 19-year-old comes from a Jewish background and despite never commenting publicly on Israeli politics, she was accused of “being on [Benjamin] Netanyahu’s payroll”.

Asked how those sort of jibes felt, she said: “It was an awful experience. I have never commented on the Middle East because I don’t know about it enough.

“It was a very awful situation. I reported it to the police and it came back as a non-crime hate incident.

“The guy that accused me of it is a convicted vote rigger. I voted it to the Labour Party’s regional branch and because he is no longer a Labour member – they could not investigate it internally.

“He is still a Labour Party activist in Peterborough making those allegations publicly.”

Blakemore-Creedon’s time in politics has been relatively short and she admitted to Charlie the experience has left her with a sour taste.

“A lot of people have reached out to me with their own experiences in politics – that’s not just in Peterborough”, she said.

“Nationally, people have reached out with their own experiences.”

Asked if she will continue her bid to get CCTVs installed in taxis, she said: “Yes. Definitely. I will be putting out a petition so we can hopefully get national government to have a discussion about a national proposal to have CCTV in taxis.

“It safeguards not only the taxi driver, but also the passenger.”

The youngster told GB News that she has been approached by other political factions in her short time as an independent councillor.

Despite members of her family backing Reform UK, Blakemore-Creedon said she will be continuing without ties to a political party for the time being.

Speaking to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, leader of the council and of the Labour group, Dennis Jones, said he was “disappointed”.

“Nevertheless, the Peterborough City Council Labour Group will continue to work hard to deliver for local residents as we always have,” he said.

A Labour Party spokesperson also said: “All complaints are assessed thoroughly in line with the Labour Party’s rules and procedures.”
