At around 9:30 p.m., a man in Rue Rabelais in Lyon repeatedly shouted “Allak Akbar” and other threatening slogans. According to our information, the man shouted from his flat in a hotel complex towards the street.
Numerous police officers intervened and initially set up a cordon. Several eyewitnesses reported that the police officers were heavily armed in order to be prepared for all eventualities. The fire brigade was also mobilised while a column of police officers gathered to arrest the person. The arrest reportedly went smoothly.
The suspect was then taken to a hospital where he was psychiatrically examined, among other things. He was then possibly taken into police custody.
