The German Social Democrats want to appoint a proven Islamist as President of the German Parliament

According to the newspaper Tagesspiegel, former Social Democratic Party (SPD) Integration Minister Aydan Özoguz is a serious option for the office of German Parliament President. According to the newspaper Welt am Sonntag, there are even “corresponding thoughts in the party headquarters Willy-Brandt-Haus”. Özoguz became known for her assertion that a German culture “apart from language, is simply not identifiable”.

Less known to the public is Özoguz’s openly pro-Islamist stance, be it her participation in an anti-Semitic Hezbollah demonstration, her fight against a burqa ban or her expressions of sympathy for Salafists who travelled to IS in Syria. Also worth mentioning is Özoguz’s involvement with the Islamic Centre Hamburg IZH, which is monitored by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution as an “outpost” of the Iranian terror mullahs. In 2011, Özoguz called on Muslims to boycott the Islam Conference because the focus of the event was supposed to be on internal security and deradicalisation.

In 2013, Özoguz also warned against a blanket ban on child marriages. Yet every year, more than 22,000 girls die worldwide due to premature pregnancies and births. The reason: child marriages, according to the international non-governmental organisation Save the Children ( October 11, 2021).

The deputy chairperson of the AfD parliamentary group, Beatrix von Storch, comments:

“After the muezzin call in the cathedral city of Cologne, now another Islamist and anti-Semite linked to Hezbollah and the Muslim Brotherhood as president of the German parliament? Özoguz’s frequently proven Islamist friendliness does not seem to bother the Social Democratic Party (SPD) when it comes to appointing one of the highest offices in our democracy.Comrade Scholz will continue to promote Özoguz, his political favourite from Hamburg days. And a completely desolate Christian Democratic Union will certainly actively support Merkel’s former Minister of State for Integration in her march through the institutions to the top of the German parliament.Above the German Parliament is written to the German people, not to the German Social Democratic Party (SPD) Islamism. Nip it in the bud.”
