Several days after the shooting at a 16-year-old on a forest path in Essen, a suspect has been arrested.
On September 20, at around 11.15 p.m., the youth was walking along the street Haus-Berge-Straße. He was followed by an unknown man. The mysterious man pulled out a gun and demanded money from the boy.
When the youth tried to flee, he shot at him and seriously injured the 16-year-old. He was taken to hospital.
The perpetrator then ran away without any prey. “A search was unsuccessful. The murder weapon is presumably a pistol,” the police announced on Friday.
The homicide squad that was then set up is investigating attempted manslaughter and was able to arrest a suspect on Tuesday: a 36-year-old Syrian who is already known to the police. The man is now in custody.
