Syrian man says after theft in a German petrol station: ‘I’m Arab and don’t have to pay anything’

A particularly brazen shoplifting incident occurred in Thuringia on Saturday. A 27-year-old Syrian man entered a petrol station in Oberroßla, a district of the town of Apolda in the Weimarer Land district.
He determinedly demanded a packet of cigarettes, a lighter and an energy drink from the sales staff, according to the police. But the young man apparently didn’t want to pay. The staff’s demands to pay for the goods were ignored. Instead, the Syrian left the shop.

When asked about the theft, he also provided a suitable reason for not handing over the money: he is an Arab and does not have to pay anything, the man explained. The police were called. The officers caught the thief and his loot near the petrol station and opened an investigation against him.
