Sweden scrapping plans for vaccine passports

The government in Sweden has decided not to introduce domestic vaccine passports. The easing of restrictions on 29 September will also be implemented according to the previous plan, which means that virtually all restrictions will disappear. There will be no participation restrictions for larger events.

The government had previously sent out the proposal for domestic vaccine passports for consultation, but now Minister of Democracy Amanda Lind announced that they would not proceed with the proposal.

“The proposal for a vaccination certificate that is out for consultation will not need to be used for any events,” she told Swedish Radio.
