France: Man threatened to ‘cause a bloodbath at the Christmas market’; he was shot dead after taking a woman hostage

An armed person was shot dead in the centre of Saint-Etienne.

The incident took place late on Tuesday evening in a shopping street in the centre of Saint-Etienne. A man was shot by a municipal officer who opened fire. The person was ‘aggressive’ and ‘threatened people’ with a knife, as the public prosecutor of Saint-Etienne, David Charmatz, told the AFP news agency.

He chased several pedestrians along one of the main streets in the city centre. Among others, a woman with a knife to her throat was taken hostage near the prefecture. She was slightly injured.

Shortly before the attack, the man is said to have entered a shop and declared that he was going to ‘cause a bloodbath at the Christmas market’, Le Monde reported.

Bavarian village of 280 residents rallies against plans for 130-berth asylum center

The small Bavarian village of Bairawies, home to just 280 residents, is at the center of a heated debate over plans to house 130 asylum seekers in a container facility. The proposed project has sparked fear and resistance among locals, who argue the influx would overwhelm their limited resources and lead to social degradation within the community.

Around 170 residents participated in a rally on Sunday organized by the local group “Bairawies Aktiv” to voice their opposition.

The association contends that the scale of the proposed accommodation is disproportionate, with Wolfgang Köster, the chairman of the group, likening the impact to Munich suddenly absorbing 750,000 new residents.

“The ratio is simply not right,” Köster stated, explaining how the village simply does not have the necessary infrastructure to support the mass influx.

Residents highlighted the fact that the village does not even have basic social facilities like a supermarket as evidence of their inability to accommodate a significant number of migrants.

The local building committee unanimously rejected the investor’s application to construct the container facility, but the decision has done little to alleviate residents’ fears, many of whom point to the fact that towns and villages across Germany have long been opposing the mass immigration policy advocated by the federal and state governments to no avail.

Concerns persist that the district office could override the municipal ruling. According to District Administrator Josef Niedermaier, a special regulation introduced by the Bavarian state government allows state authorities to bypass local planning decisions in order to meet quotas for housing asylum seekers.

“The municipality’s planning sovereignty can effectively be undermined,” he told local media.

Niedermaier confirmed that the district is required to accommodate 100 new asylum seekers monthly, intensifying pressure on local communities.

“The Lenggries property developer Christoph Hartwig, who runs a container settlement for asylum seekers there, submitted the preliminary building request to the municipality,” explained Mayor Josef Hauser.

“That would be almost half of today’s additional population. However, it is to be expected that the district office will replace the community agreement in this case,” he added.

The “Bairawies Aktiv” association is gearing up for a legal battle and is currently calling for donations to fund a potential fight in the courts. While the group insists they are not opposed to welcoming asylum seekers, they demand that politicians consider the disproportionate impact on small villages like theirs.

“We have nothing against people who seek asylum with us,” the association stated, but argued that the voices of local residents should be heard and policies should be introduced that distribute the responsibility more equitably.

UK: Trans-Identified Male Groomed 11 Year-Old Girl, Committed “Depraved” Sexual Abuse

A trans-identified male has been convicted in Liverpool for the rape of an 11 year-old girl. Anthony “Aria” Peers, 51, is said to have used the child’s interest in the Star Wars series in order to groom her for sexual abuse. Peers was said to have subjected the child to “depraved” acts which left an “untold impact” on her.

Liverpool Crown Court heard on Monday that Peers had carried out the vile campaign in Wirral prior to declaring a transgender status. The pedophile began claiming to identify as a “transgender woman” some time after raping the child, but was referred to with feminine pronouns in court.

Though Peers denied the allegations, a jury convicted him on two counts of rape, attempted rape three charges of sexual assault and two offenses of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. According to local outlet Liverpool Echo, the predator touched the victim’s breasts and private parts before encouraging her to use a sex toy on herself. He then raped the child and told her to engage in acts which press declined to cover due to their graphic nature.

Peers was handed a 15-year prison sentence as Judge Katherine Pierpoint declared, “‘You targeted a young female child for your own sexual gratification. The impact on her is untold.”

However, the judge remarked sympathetically that the pedophile’s “gender identity” issues must have caused him inner turmoil.

“Prior to this, you worked as a support worker for a number of years. You have suffered with periods of anxiety and depression and have struggled with your gender identity throughout your life,” Judge Pierpoint said. “I appreciate that, as a transgender prisoner, there will be issues which you will have to navigate during the very long period of your sentence.”

The judge further commended the young girl for “standing up” to Peers’ sexual abuse when she confided in her friends and teachers about the assault.

Judge Pierpoint added: “I accept that, in this case, there is an element of grooming with the close bond that you developed and took advantage of. It became more sinister, with you grooming her so that you could start to abuse her. You took the opportunity to fulfill your own sexual desires.”

She continued: “You were disbelieved by the jury and convicted. You still deny these matters today. She is a brave young woman who, by coming forward, has stood up to you. I hope that, with the support of her family, she will be able to move on with her life.”

Defense counsel Anthony O’Donohoe told the court: “There is nothing I can say about the facts of the case. The defendant accepts that a significant, lengthy custodial sentence is inevitable in this case,” but expressed concern that prison would be “difficult” for Peers.

“The defendant has settled on the wing that she is on, and that is encouraging. That was a matter of some concern,” O’Donohoe said. “The custodial experience for her in her particular circumstances is likely to be more difficult to navigate than in other, more usual, cases.”

In addition to a 15-year sentence, Peers is subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and a lifelong restraining order, and will be required to sign the sex offenders’ register for life.

Despite not having legally changed his name, most news outlets covering the case chose to refer to Peers by his “chosen” name rather than his legal name.

Merseyside Police conducted the investigation into the sick predator. In June, Chief Constable Serena Kennedy issued a statement apologizing for historical “ill treatment” of the “LGBTQ+ community” in response to campaigner Peter Tatchell, who has previously argued favorably for adult-child sexual activity.

Transgender movement has overplayed its hand and the world is finally getting wise to it

John Oliver X

It is too early to declare victory just yet, but the transgender movement is definitely having a very bad year. As I noted recently, there is a good case to be made that tran sgender activists won the election for Donald Trump — and Democrats know it. In fact, many more moderate liberals are on the warpath, demanding to know why the Left is beholden to a handful of men in skirts and LGBT extremists. Last week, for example, an irate Bill Maher took on Neil DeGrasse Tyson, who identifies as a science expert.

Maher noted that progressives have discredited themselves by refusing to admit that there are real biological differences between males and females, and that these differences matter in sports. No matter how hard he pushed, Tyson ducked and weaved and tried to use what he clearly thought were witty responses to avoid answering the question. The exchange ended with Maher finally telling Tyson: “Well, I’m going to file you under ‘part of the problem.’” Watch for yourself — it’s a great bit of TV:

More common, however, was the response of John Oliver, the alleged comedian who hosts “Last Week Tonight.” Oliver has been all-in on the transgender agenda for quite some time, and he was close to despair, yelling at his audience that only weird people care about this issue (yeah, you’re telling us), that there is “no evidence” of any issues with males playing in female sports, and that the issue of “safety” is also merely a bigoted illusion:

But facts, as they say, are stubborn things. There are scores of examples one could cite to prove that John Oliver and the other Baghdad Bobs of late-night TV are merely extremists bunkered down in a state of denial, but one recent example will suffice. A group of female players and an assistant coach are suing San Jose University over the deprivation of their privacy and scholarship opportunities as well as the fact that female players were placed at risk of physical harm. National Review’s report is worth reading in its entirety, but this section in particular stood out to me:

Brooke Slusser, a plaintiff who transferred to San Jose State University in 2023 on a scholarship for the women’s volleyball team, similarly expressed discomfort that she had undressed in his presence. Slusser claims that she was not informed by university staff that (Blair) Fleming is male, and she was often assigned to room with him on trips. Slusser later learned that she was frequently assigned to board with Fleming during road trips because Kress and other staff had asked Fleming who he wanted to room with, and he chose her.

“Due to her personal convictions and religious beliefs, Slusser would not have roomed with Fleming or changed clothes in front of Fleming if Slusser had known Fleming was male,” the lawsuit reads. “Slusser’s right to protect her bodily privacy was violated by SJSU, (Coach Todd) Kress, and the MWC through actions, policies and practices that caused her to lose her right to bodily privacy without consent and against her will.”

To sum up: A girl was assigned to room with a male, whom she did not know was male, at that male’s specific request. Now, perhaps John Oliver doesn’t see the problem with that. In fact, I’ll bet he doesn’t. He and the other celebrity vassals of the Human Rights Campaign probably think this — Brooke, was it? — needs some re-education to check her transphobia. Because to men like Oliver, there is no such thing as a violation of a young girl’s dignity if a trans-identifying man is doing the violating, and there is no such thing as privacy if it means shielding your body from the eyes of a trans-identifying man.

Fortunately, the public has gotten woke to what they’re defending here, and they’re losing — most recently, in Missouri, where a circuit court just upheld that state’s ban on gender mutilation for minors. Again, it is too early to tell where we are in this ugly culture war. But one can feel, perhaps, the high tide — and the turn.

Italy PM Meloni connects sexual violence against women with immigrants

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni ruffled feathers on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women by connecting such violence with immigration.

“Now I will be called racist, but there is a higher incidence, unfortunately, in cases of sexual violence, by immigrants, especially those who enter illegally, because when you’ve got nothing things can degenerate and that can lead anywhere,” she said in an interview with Donna Moderna.

Meloni continued: “The focus here is primarily on security; the cultural dimension is less relevant. We need to ensure the presence of law enforcement, ensure that crimes are properly addressed and ensure that when someone commits a crime, they face the consequences, which is another issue we have in Italy.

“What more can be done for the training of judges and law enforcement officers who handle cases of violence against women? It’s very difficult to understand how someone reacts or might react; there’s an issue of fear, of shame, and it’s an extremely intimate sphere, so specific training is absolutely necessary,” the PM added.

She went on to note that her government had hired extra police and issued new criminal laws “to combat the rampant insecurity in our cities”.

Her coalition partner, Matteo Salvini, also referred to violence against women, posting a list of victims on his social media X page on November 25, many of whom had been killed by foreign nationals.

“Defending girls … also means recognising the inevitable and growing incidence of foreign aggressors, a worrying fact that in no way diminishes Italian cases but highlights the dangerous consequences of uncontrolled immigration, often coming from countries that do not share Western principles and values,” Salvini wrote.

“It is the moral duty of all of us to preserve and defend them at all costs, for the safety of women today and tomorrow.”

War on woke as Walmart stops selling chest binders and trans books in DEI crackdown

Walmart has announced it will stop selling books about transgenderism marketed towards children in a major overhaul of its diversity policies.

The company confirmed it would phase out terms such as “diversity, equity and inclusion” (DEI) in company materials.

In a major overhaul of its diversity policies, the company, which is valued at $665billion, would prohibit third-party sellers from offering LGBTQ-themed items on its website that were being marketed to transgender children.

This includes items such as chest binders and a number of educational books aimed at children.

It comes after a campaign by anti-DEI activist Robby Starbuck who celebrated the announcement on social media.

He wrote on X: “Massive news: Walmart is ending their woke policies. I can now exclusively tell you what’s changing and how it happened…Last week I told execs at Walmart that I was doing a story on wokeness there. Instead we had productive conversations to find solutions.”

Reacting to the news, X owner and controversial billionaire Elon Musk said: “The tide has turned.”

However, a Walmart spokesman said many of the changes were in the works for several years and not a result of the conversation with Starbuck.

It said it was “willing to change alongside our associates and customers who represent all of America.”

After the killing of George Floyd in 2020, Walmart’s Chief Executive Doug McMillon announced Walmart would fund the Centre for Racial Equality.

During the announcement of the funding, McMillon said: “Slavery, lynching, the concept of separate but equal and the other realities from our past have morphed into a set of systems today that are all too often, unjust.”

The Wall Street Journal reports the company will now wind-down the non-profit which supports minority-owned suppliers.

There has been backlash towards these DEI policies spearheaded by president-elect Donald Trump and his supporters, something which has only been amplified by his victory in the Presidential election.

A spokesperson from Walmart said: “We’ve been on a journey and know we aren’t perfect, but every decision comes from a place of wanting to foster a sense of belonging, to open doors to opportunities for all our associates, customers and suppliers and to be a Walmart for everyone.”

Starbuck said the company had agreed to “remove inappropriate sexual and/or transgender products marketed to children”, review all funding of Pride marches, and end racial equity training.

He had previously successfully pressured other US companies to back away from its diversity efforts, including the Tractor Supply Company, and manufacturers Ford and Deere.

Woman acquitted after trial over tweet calling German foreign minister a ‘hollow brat’

A Bavarian woman who was fined €6,000 in 2023 for calling German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock a “hollow brat” on X has been acquitted after a district court trial, reigniting discussions on the use of judicial resources in handling online insults against politicians.

The woman, whose tweets included comments such as “this hollow brat is a danger to our country,” faced criminal charges filed by Baerbock herself. The tweets, one of which had only 216 views, were in response to the foreign minister’s appearance at the G20 summit.

The accused, who works with disabled children, had faced severe consequences by having a criminal conviction, prompting her to appeal despite warnings from the court that it might result in significant costs.

During the hearing on Monday, a police officer who handled the initial complaint testified. The judge proposed halting the proceedings in exchange for a €1,000 donation to a children’s charity, but the prosecutor declined, citing the Bavarian judiciary’s commitment to combating online hate speech.

The case continued, highlighting the extensive work required in such investigations, including tracking IP addresses and conducting house searches, often involving multiple officers and considerable time.

After a two-hour hearing, the judge acquitted the woman, declaring the state treasury responsible for the costs.

The case has drawn public scrutiny, with critics questioning whether the prosecution of minor online offenses justifies the heavy demand on judicial and law enforcement resources.

Defense lawyer Udo Vetter criticized the system, revealing that Germany faces over 140,000 open arrest warrants for insults against politicians. He described the strain on police and prosecutors, with routine cases requiring extensive resources better spent addressing serious crimes.

“Officers tell me that these petty cases are getting incredibly on their nerves. They say: ‘You can’t be serious! Crime is rising, and we’re wasting countless hours on this,’” he told Nius.

“Crime is getting out of hand and everything is going down the drain, and we have to spend so many, countless hours of work with such things — wasting our time,” he added.

The acquittal has been seen as a welcome dose of common sense within a nation that critics argue is becoming increasingly draconian — a trajectory fuelled primarily by politicians who attempt to censor citizens who disagree with them.

Earlier this month, Remix News reported how a 64-year-old pensioner who retweeted a meme of Green Economy Minister Robert Habeck, in which Habeck was described as an “idiot,” was arrested by Bavarian police and had his home raided.

The crime has even been recorded as a “politically motivated right-wing crime.”

The man has been accused of distributing a photo of Habeck via retweet, where Habeck is described as an “idiot.”

The Bamberg prosecutor’s office claims that this constitutes a federal criminal offense of “hatred.”

This isn’t a new phenomenon, but it is becoming increasingly more frequent. In March 2022, Remix News reported how over 100 people had seen their homes raided across Germany for “insulting” politicians, with police instructed to conduct a nationwide crackdown on what they say is “hate mail” targeting those in public office.

Dutch Prosecutor Seeks Community Service for Attacker of Right-Wing Politician

18 days in detention and 80 hours of community service—that’s what a Dutch prosecutor finds to be a reasonable punishment for the young man who a year ago attacked Forum for Democracy (FvD) leader Thierry Baudet with a glass bottle.

The prosecution is asking for 138 days of juvenile detention, of which 120 days conditional, and 80 hours of community service for what text messages, along with the boy’s own statements, led to a charge of premeditated aggravated assault. The case against a second suspect has been dropped due to lack of evidence, Dutch media outlet NOS reports.

A mere two days before the Dutch national elections last fall, Baudet, the leader of the eurosceptic, anti-mass migration party, was speaking at a bar in the northern city of Groningen when the then-15-year-old, pretending to want a selfie with the politician, picked up a bottle and hit Baudet over the head. The Antifa group AFA Noord, present in the bar to protest Baudet’s appearance, initially claimed responsibility but later retracted their statement.

Baudet said at the time that it was a “political attack” on his party’s beliefs:

People I represent also feel threatened to express their opinion.

A month prior, Baudet suffered a concussion after being attacked in Ghent by a Ukrainian man who struck him with an umbrella. The situation raised questions about the lack of security for the firebrand politician. That assailant was let go with a warning.

Political violence against right-wing politicians in the Netherlands should be more of a serious concern than the recent slap-on-the-wrist sentences seem to show, given the country’s history. In 2002, Pim Fortuyn, a populist anti-immigration politician, was assassinated while on the campaign trail. His assassin was sentenced to 18 years in prison but was released on parole in 2014. Last fall’s election winner and Party for Freedom leader Geert Wilders has lived under police protection for the last 20 years after a price was put on his head by Islamists.

The Groeningen court will rule on the case in two weeks. If it goes along with the prosecution, the accused will be released as he has already served the 18 days in pre-detention.
