Iceland suspends Moderna for all age groups

The Chief Epidemiologist of Iceland has decided that the Moderna vaccine against Covid-19 will not be used in Iceland. More information is needed on the safety of the vaccine for booster vaccinations and therefore not only people younger than 30 will be excluded, but everyone.

An announcement by the state concluded that in recent days there has been data from other Nordic countries on the increased incidence of myocarditis and pericarditis after vaccination with the Moderna vaccine in addition to the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.

According to the epidemiologist, the Moderna vaccine had for the past two months been used almost exclusively in Iceland for booster vaccinations after the Janssen vaccine and after two-dose vaccinations for the elderly and immunocompromised. Very few individuals are said to have received the second dose of Moderna.

In Sweden, the use of Moderna has been restricted to individuals born before 1991. In Norway and Denmark, it has been emphasized that the Pfizer vaccine is recommended rather than Moderna for 12 to 17 year olds.

In Iceland, only the Pfizer vaccine has been recommended for primary vaccination at 12 to 17 years of age since the vaccination of this particular age group began.

According to the Chief Epidemiologist, the decision was made to suspend the use of Moderna as there is a sufficient supply of the Pfizer vaccine for defined priority groups and basic vaccinations of those who have not yet been vaccinated.

Because of 14 euros loot: A dozen Syrians and Afghans rob children in Austria

At Vienna’s Praterstern a group of asylum seekers threatened two boys aged 12 and 13 and physically attacked them. They looted 14 euros.

The crime took place on Thursday evening at 6:40 p.m. near the Vienna Praterstern underground station. According to the Vienna Police Department, a group of 10-15 men and youths surrounded two boys (12 and 13 years old), physically attacked them and threatened them verbally. The victims were robbed of 14 euros.

During an immediate manhunt, the Vienna police were able to arrest three youths in Brigittenau. The two older ones, a Syrian and an Afghan, were arrested. A third (13) was handed over to a guardian because he was under age.

Time and again at the Praterstern: Three young Afghans repeatedly raped a 21-year-old Turkish student in the toilet at the Praterstern in Vienna. The trio was caught and convicted. Now, only four (!) years later, all three perpetrators are at large again: they were released early from prison.

German federal government agency and research institute responsible for disease control and prevention asserts Corona is no worse than flu

Anyone who compares the Corona virus with influenza has so far been regarded by the government as a dangerous trivialiser of the pandemic!

But on Wednesday, the Corona flu comparison was made by Lothar Wieler (60), President of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI)!

Corona and the flu “have a lot in common”, Wieler said at the Federal Press Conference. BOTH respiratory infections would spread “wherever people come together”. And BOTH are “a risk for older people and also for chronically ill people”.

Wieler intended to sound the alarm again with the comparison. The scary warning: “If there are many Covid19 and many flu sufferers at the same time, then the hospitals will be massively burdened.” This is how Wieler justified the necessity of continuing the measures.

But is the combination of Corona and flu really causing Germany’s hospitals to collapse?

Health Minister Jens Spahn (41, Christian Democratic Union, CDU) expressed himself in a much more differentiated way than Wieler on several points. Scaremongering? No such thing with Spahn!

Even “before Corona”, the health system had reached its limits, he said. There had been “mild waves of influenza and very severe waves of influenza with a very heavy burden on intensive care units”.

Spahn also showed a lot of understanding – unlike Wieler – for the criticism of the mandatory mask requirement for schoolchildren. “In the evening in a restaurant, all adults sit together for hours without a mask, and in school the children are constantly wearing them.” This should be discussed.

It is the toughest – and most significant – rebuttal of German Corona politics to date!

France: Muslim who insulted and stole from firefighters while on duty, who fraternised with an Amazon delivery man who stole and resold packages has now coerced a disabled toddler into shouting “Allahu Akbar” as well

According to our information, the judiciary is interested in another case concerning Rayanne B. on which he has not yet been questioned. It is a complaint against the young man for a video in which he filmed a disabled child and made him say “Allah Akbar”, in a school in Val-de-Marne where he was a supervisor, according to the same source. Le Parisien

The pre-trial detention of 20-year-old Rayanne B., that started yesterday because of death threats against Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer and police officers, was extended today. According to reports, the police also found a video in which he makes fun of a disabled person. Valeurs Actuelles

Rayan B., who can be viewed in the short film “Ça passe” by Lady Li, is registered with an agency for actors.

Rayanne B.’s problems are piling up. On Wednesday afternoon, he was again taken into custody at the Juvisy-sur-Orge police station for “death threats against a public figure”, as confirmed by the Evry-Courcouronnes public prosecutor’s office. And not just any person. He was targeting Jean-Michel Blanquer, the Minister of National Education. His pre-trial detention was extended on Thursday evening.

France: The books of the Muslim Nawa publishing house, dissolved for reasons of justifying terrorism, are still on sale

Despite a dissolution decree ratified by Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin on Wednesday September 29, 2021, some books published by Nawa, which has close links with the “Islamist community of Artigat” and the NGO BarakaCity, are being sold in a bookshop in the centre of Toulouse, La Dépêche has discovered. Among the 26 books distributed by Nawa, one in particular caught the attention of the Interior Ministry: “Lire et comprendre Qotb”, written by the essayist Aïssam Aït-Yahya.

“He was an Egyptian philosopher who was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, of which Tariq Ramadan’s grandfather is the founder. These people are only concerned with gaining power, not religion,” Nawa said in a statement rejecting these “ridiculous” accusations. For Qotb, however, jihad is a necessity. As of Tuesday, the book was still available on Amazon and Muslim shop websites, the daily said. Other books sold in downtown Toulouse are inspired by Mohamed Hassan, an Egyptian who advocates suicide bombings. “But Nawa is not the only one. Take a closer look at Al Bayyinah publishing house,” is the stubborn defence of the publisher, which has appealed against Gérald Darmanin’s decision. Nawa was contacted several times by La Dépêche, but did not respond to their requests.

Germany: Muezzins in Cologne may call for Friday prayers in future

The city of Cologne has launched a model project by which mosque congregations will in future be able to call their worshippers to Friday prayers. “When we hear the call of the muezzin in addition to the church bells in our city, it shows that diversity is appreciated and lived in Cologne,” Mayor Henriette Reker (non-party) announced on Thursday evening.

“I am pleased to set a sign of mutual acceptance of religion and to make a commitment to the freedom of religion protected by the Basic Law,” she added. Muslims are an “integral part of Cologne’s urban society”, the politician stressed. “Anyone who doubts this questions Cologne’s identity and our peaceful coexistence.

Accordingly, the model project is initially limited to two years. Interested mosque communities must submit an application. The conditions are to be individually adapted and laid down in a contract. However, the muezzin call may only be made between 12 and 3 pm and for a maximum of five minutes. The volume would also be regulated differently depending on the location of the mosque. After two years, the project will be evaluated and a decision will be made as to whether a permanent regulation can be developed from the model project.

The question of whether or not a muezzin should be allowed to call for prayer in public is always the subject of heated debate. Green and left-wing politicians in particular repeatedly call for such measures. In Hesse, the state government decided in winter that muezzin calls were possible without permission.

Critics, on the other hand, regularly point out that the Islamic call to prayer is not comparable to the ringing of church bells, because the muezzin call is a sung confession of faith.

Germany: Iraqi shouting “Allahu Akbar” stabs car driver

Police in Welver, North Rhine-Westphalia, arrested an Iraqi who attacked a motorist with a knife. The 30-year-old asylum seeker was overpowered and disarmed by a plainclothes police officer, the police said.

At the time of the attack on Wednesday, the man had been intoxicated and had shouted “Allahu Akbar”. However, a search of his flat did not reveal any evidence of an Islamist motive, which is why the State Security Service did not take over the investigation. When asked by the newspaper JUNGEN FREIHEIT, a police spokesperson said that the public prosecutor’s office in Arnsberg had filed an application to have the Iraqi man, who was known to the police, placed in a psychiatric institution.

The case has similarities to the knife attack in Würzburg in June. There, an asylum seeker from Somalia, who was also known to the police, had killed three women with a knife and injured other persons, some of them fatally. He had also shouted “Allahu Akbar” and said after his arrest that he wanted to carry out his “jihad”.

Nobel Prize in Physics awarded for making ‘guess’ about climate

By Anthony Watts

This past week, Syukuro Manabe, Klaus Hasselmann, and Giorgio Parisi were awarded the 2021 Nobel Prize in Physics for research that led to early computer models of the Earth’s climate. On the face of it, some people might think this is a grand achievement. In reality, unlike many Nobel-worthy accomplishments that are based on hard data or newly known processes, this one was simply a guess. Incredibly, we still don’t have an answer, more than 60 years later.

As the BBC reports,

“It is incredibly difficult to predict the long-term behaviour of complex physical systems such as the climate. Computer models that anticipate how it will respond to rising greenhouse gas emissions have therefore been crucial for understanding global warming as a planetary emergency.”

The Associated Press reported on Manabe’s work, saying, “…other climate scientists called his 1967 paper with the late Richard Wetherald “the most influential climate paper ever.” Manabe’s Princeton colleague, Tom Delworth, called Manabe “the Michael Jordan of climate.”

CNN reported,

“Manabe… harnessed the calculating power of early computers and applied it to climate. In the late 1960s, his climate circulation model was on a computer that occupied a whole room and only had half a megabyte of memory. After hundreds of hours of testing, the model showed that carbon dioxide had a clear impact — when the level of carbon dioxide doubled, global temperature increased by over 2°C.”

Glowing reviews, crude early calculations, and wild claims of a “planetary emergency” aside, the bottom line is climate models then and now still don’t provide a certain answer as to how much warming will occur, because scientists still haven’t been able to nail down the single most important variable known as “climate sensitivity.”

As referenced in Climate at a Glance: Climate Sensitivity, for decades, scientists have debated the effect of climate sensitivity, due to the uncertain nature of climate feedback in various models.

Declaring future predictions of global warming “settled science” requires a fairly precise calculation of future temperatures. However, since climate sensitivity was first identified more than 40 years ago, scientists and climate models have produced a very broad range of potential future temperature patterns. Estimates in peer reviewed studies range from 0.8°C warming to almost 6.0°C warming by 2100.

Such a large range of uncertainty means climate model temperature projections remain dubious, at best. This means that no matter if your climate model is a crude rendition running on an ancient computer, or a new supercomputer that can perform billions of calculations per second, if you don’t have the actual value of climate sensitivity to use in the equations, your end result will always be a guess.

If climate scientists don’t understand the Earth’s atmosphere well enough to nail down a true climate sensitivity estimate for increased carbon dioxide emissions, how can we trust climate model projections of future warming that rely on such an uncertain value?

And that’s what we have — an unanswered guess that was given a Nobel Prize. Physicist Lubos Motls didn’t mince words when he wrote of the award on his website:

“But even if the two men deserved such an award, which they don’t, it is absolutely unforgivable how the prize was justified. It was justified by buzzwords (I especially mean the nonsensical superstitious phrase “global warming”) that are almost identical like those in the justification of the Nobel Prize in Peace for pure scammers such as Al Gore. In this way, the Nobel Prize has committed suicide and I don’t want to hear about it again. The political motivation of this prize is 100% obvious.”

“Award-winning” science deserves something better than guesses that stem from political motivations. We deserve better because politicians are using these guesses to justify upending our way of life, returning us to the dark ages of energ poverty.

Polish Constitutional Court declares EU law incompatible

The dispute between Warsaw and Brussels over Poland’s judicial reform is escalating. The Polish Constitutional Court ruled that elements of EU law violate the country’s constitution. This could allow Poland to disregard the judgments of the ECJ.

“The attempt by the European Court of Justice to interfere in the Polish judicial system violates (…) the rule of primacy of the constitution and the rule that sovereignty is preserved in the process of European integration,” the judges ruled on Thursday.

Specifically, the procedure was aimed at discerning whether provisions from the EU treaties, with which the EU Commission justifies its right to have a say in questions of the rule of law, are compatible with the Polish constitution.

Among other things, the Brussels authority has doubts about the independence of the Polish Constitutional Court, which has now determined that national law takes precedence over EU law. The chair is Julia Przylebska, a close confidante of PiS boss Jaroslaw Kaczynski.

“The EU institutions act outside the limits of the competence that Poland gives them,” said Przylebska when pronouncing the verdict.

The EU Commission expressed its “concern” about the ruling. Brussels will use “all means” to ensure that EU law is respected in Poland, said EU Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders on Thursday. The principle that EU law takes precedence over national law and the binding character of decisions by the EU judiciary are central to the confederation of states, he said.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki had asked the Polish Constitutional Court to review a judgment of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) of March 2, 2021. In this ruling, the top EU judges found that EU law can force member states to disregard individual provisions in national law, even if it is constitutional law.

Because of the reforms, the EU Commission has already opened several infringement proceedings against the government in Warsaw and has filed lawsuits with the European Court of Justice (ECJ).

Poland’s government had actually relied on a German constitutional court ruling. In May 2020, the Karlsruhe judges objected to the European Central Bank’s bond purchases worth billions – and thus opposed an ECJ ruling for the first time.

The Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe, Germany, reserved the right to carry out the final inspection.
