Hysterical and out of control, French pundits magnify US narrative

French General Vincent Desportes has been expressing his fantasies about Russia’s military doctrine on television: “Russia may use a tactical nuclear strike to flatten a town” because it’s now part of its military doctrine, Desportes told news outlet RMC. Thanks to these “specialists” France has been facing its “Afghanistan” moment in Africa.

The general happens to be a professor of strategy at Sciences Po and HEC, and had tried to inflame French public sentiment with the fake news that a Russian strike had been aimed at the Ukrainian nuclear power plant in Zaporijia.

“It is on the one hand the use of tactical nuclear weapons, that is to say on Ukraine,” continued General Vincent Desportes. “It is normal in the Russian army, when one experiences a military difficulty on the ground, to move to the next level. And to succeed in advancing, they will fire a tactical nuclear weapon, on a city or on an enemy concentration. Which would completely change the nature of the war and would astound the world.”

Mali echoes US Afghan retreat

Russia does not have a tactical nukes doctrine, but this did not stop the general to espouse his fact-free commentary. Desportes graduated from the École spéciale militaire de Saint-Cyr, specialising in armour warfare. He also graduated from the US Army War College and was Military attaché in the French embassy in the US, aid to the General secretary for national defence, and director of the Centre de doctrine et d’emploi des forces.

Under his tutelage sadly, anti-French sentiment in the Sahel and rising violence created space for the Russian Wagner mercenary group to step in.

France’s imminent military withdrawal from Mali has grim echoes of the West’s chaotic exit from Afghanistan last year, according to François Brousseau writing in Le Devoir.

France is leaving Mali to avoid being kicked out. In the region, anti-French hostility is rising, in governments as well as in public opinion. One after another, fragile and powerless democracies are overthrown by coups (Mali 2020, Guinea 2021, Burkina Faso 2022). In West Africa, where the French could previously bank on tons of goodwill, the French are now blamed for these events instead.

This week, on France Info, the deputy of the political party La France insoumiseAlexis Corbière revealed that France had sent “bullet-proof vests and some anti-tank missiles” to Ukraine. This information had been classified as a “defense secret” until the leak.

Calls to assassinate Putin

Invited to the microphone of RTL, Saturday March 5, retired General Christophe Gomart, former head of intelligence, announced that killing Vladimir Putin would be “one of the possible actions” to put an end to the war in Ukraine. Gomart echoed the pleas of US Senator Lindsay Graham.

As did Graham, General Gomart must have noticed that there had been no strategic initiatives from the Ukrainian Army lately. Translated this means the Ukrainians are seeing their army routed.

On the Sean Hannity Show (Fox News) on 3 March 2022, Senator Lindsey Graham had called for the assassination of President Vladimir Putin, in the same way that Klaus von Stauffenberg had attempted to kill Adolf Hitler.

French General Henry Pinard Legry also told television viewers on LCI this week that Putin was a “high value target” just like those that the French had eliminated in Mali.

“To hear these words I am really indignant. To achieve this goal would mean the failure of the EU and the West. Moreover, this is also envisaged for Mali. I hope that the Malian people will take this seriously,” a viewer responded with utter disgust.

An entire programme on LCI was in fact dedicated to the assassination of Putin “as the only option” in a near hysterical fashion, explaining in detail Western intelligence services should go about it. It was quite painful to watch adults turn into over-excited kindergarten conspiracists.

The Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn last Wednesday also called for the “physical elimination” of Russian president Vladimir Putin, but then quickly back-pedalled saying it had been a slip of the tongue and a mistake. On Wednesday morning he was interviewed by Radio 100,7 about the war in Ukraine: “That would be all you could wish for him [Putin], that he would really be physically eliminated so that this stops”.

During a public session of the US House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, which sat on 8 March 2022, US Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines painted a grim portrait of the Russian President concocted by her team. On the following day, Democratic Senator Angus King appearing on MSNBC’s Morning Joe referred to Putin as “the most dangerous man in world history”.

Germany: Disgusting, how the “Central Council of Muslims” board comments on Ukrainian refugees

As if the Ukraine war did not have enough victims already…

According to the United Nations, around two million people are on the run because of the devastating war in Ukraine. Many of them have fled towards the West, arriving in Poland, Hungary, but also already in Germany. The willingness to help and solidarity towards these victims is remarkably high – and precisely that seems to be a thorn in the flesh of some people.

Now a board member of the Central Council of Muslims in Germany (ZMD) has posted a disgusting photo – defaming the suffering and plight of refugees in the Ukraine war!

The Ukraine war: Disgusting comments on refugees by a board member of the Central Council of Muslims
In his Instagram account, Mehmet Celebi (39), one of three deputies of ZMD chairman Aiman Mazyek, shared a photo of two children in a swimming pool with their mother. The mother (labelled “World’s Attention”) is holding up one of the two children labelled “Ukraine” while the other labelled “Palestine” is apparently about to drown.

With this disgusting image, Mehmet Celebi, board member of the Central Council of Muslims, compared aid to Ukraine with aid to Muslim countries.Photo: Private, screenshot WAZ

The message is clear: while the (Western) world is doing everything it can to help Ukraine and shelter refugees from the country, Palestine is in the process of symbolically dying – without even being noticed by the rest of the world. The photo is also divided into a second half showing a skeleton under water – and the names of Islamic countries that are already “dead” (Syria, Libya, Iraq, Yemen, among others) without the West having rushed to help.

Former Green MP Volker Beck (61) confronted Celebi on Twitter and wrote directly to ZMD chair Aiman Mazyek: “Your deputy Mehmet Celebi defames aid and solidarity for Ukraine. Is this the opinion of the Central Council of Muslims?” Does the Central Council of Muslims in Germany share the opinion of one of its chairmen that there is less willingness to help Muslims in Western Europe than there is at present towards Ukrainians?

According to research by this editorial team, Mehmet Celebi has already caused a stir in the past with Turkish nationalist slogans on social media, had glorified the Turkish war of aggression against Kurdish militias and compared the Holocaust with Israeli self-defence against Hamas rockets on Twitter. His activities on the board of the ATIB (“Avrupa Türk-islam Birligi”, in German: “Union der Türkisch-Islamischen Kulturvereine in Europa”) have already attracted negative attention. The ATIB is ideologically close to the extreme right-wing “Grey Wolves” and is being monitored by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

How can a man with such world views be on the board of an organisation that, in its own words, promotes intercultural and religious understanding and tolerance in Germany? The ZMD did not comment specifically on Mehmet Celebi when asked. The spokesperson succinctly said: “Mr Celebi’s post in no way reflects the ZMD’s stance.”

France: Citizens enraged by public muezzin call in Creil

It is a noise that does not go unnoticed in Creil in the Oise department. For, as every Friday, the call to prayer and the sermon are broadcast by loudspeakers in front of the community’s An Nour mosque. A ritual that is far from meeting with undivided approval and even upsets many residents of the neighbourhood who are tired of enduring this inconvenience every week, as several politicians were able to explain on Twitter. Gilbert Collard, Eric Zemmour’s well-known running mate, deplored the development and posted a video on his Twitter account featuring the infamous weekly religious call. ” Long live the cockcrow “, said the member of the party Reconquête!

For his part, the co-founder of Avenir Français, Alexandre Sabatou, took the floor to denounce the call, which he felt was too loud. “The noise pollution can be heard within a radius of more than ten kilometres around this place of worship,” he declared. He also announced that he had sent a letter to the mayor to enforce compliance with the law, “because secularism is not an outdated principle, but more relevant than ever”. Alexandre Sabatou recalled that the 1905 law and administrative jurisprudence can lead to restrictions on religious demonstrations on public streets if they affect public order. If the city administration does not give a satisfactory answer, the co-founder of Avenir Français announced that he would take legal action before the administrative court in Amiens.

Arab-speaking man who spat in French priest’s face on video is ‘punished’ with citizenship course

On Sunday, Feb. 27, a man spat in the face of a French priest who was blessing local vendors with holy water outside Saint-Michel basilica in Bordeaux.

In the video, the man is seen spitting in the priest’s face and saying in Arabic, “F*k your father and f*k your mother’s p*ssy.”

The priest had not filed a criminal complaint, but the prosecution had opened an investigation nonetheless, reported Le Figaro. The suspect was arrested with a switchblade and charged with harassing the priest based on his religion.

National Rally politician Edwige Diaz posted about the incident on her Facebook page and shared the video, writing, “In Bordeaux, in the Saint-Michel district plagued by massive immigration, a priest can no longer lead a mass without being spat on by scum! Those who defend ‘living together’ never inflict ‘living together’ on themselves.”

As a result of the case, the offender was ordered to attend a citizenship course and banned from appearing within the perimeter of the square at the Saint-Michel basilica for six months.

Furthermore, the man was summoned to the prosecutor’s office to discuss a plea on March 18. The proceeding allows the public prosecutor to propose a sanction to the perpetrator to avoid a trial, which will be available only if he admits guilt.

However, if he refuses the deal, the prosecutor can proceed with a trial.

The offender’s discernment was impaired, says expert

The incident was also caught on a video posted on Twitter by Infos Bordeaux and was widely commented on, especially in conservative circles due to the man’s Arabic background.

It features the priest, on the forecourt of the basilica, trying to make his way through a crowd of itinerant traders while blessing them. The offender then approaches him and spits in his face.

“In police custody, the person concerned recognized the offense but denied knowing the status of the priest, while explaining his gesture of exasperation from receiving the holy water on his head. He was subjected to psychiatric expertise, and the expert concluded that his discernment was impaired,” the Bordeaux prosecutor’s office reported.

“The criminal composition sanctions the acts committed against the priest, whose position he could not ignore given the clothes and attributes he wore allowing his identification, as well as the prohibited carrying of category D weapons,” specified the prosecutor’s office.

The charged individual is also facing criminal proceedings for other past incidents.

Prince Harry elevates whining to art form

By Robyn Dolgin

Prince Harry keeps alerting the public to his money-making ambitions, and now offers teaser build-ups to his pending “blockbuster memoir”: It “promises to shake the monarchy to its core,” according to the royal’s close friend.

The royal’s rich-person’s drama appears to take on the specter of a prince in an imperial bubble when comparing his headlines to the world’s tragedies: He’s about to “lay bare his feelings toward Camilla,” but the rest of the world seems far more concerned about Ukrainian families being blown to smithereens by the Russian military. There is also the matter of his 95-year-old grandmother — the Queen — who was recently quarantined with COVID.

None of these issues have come between Prince Harry and his throwing stink bombs over the palace walls. He’s now mired in a web of his own making by pocket-ng a whopping $20 million in a multi-part book deal with Penguin Random House. High-level gossip must be an integral part of the memoir to justify the price tag.

Decorum, decency, and respect for the crown — everyone knows isn’t going to prompt readers to turn the book into a blockbuster bestseller. One can only guess at the queen’s feelings. She’s maintained an official silence. Keeping a stiff upper lip isn’t merely a matter of public display, but a matter of retaining one’s dignity.

“Gossip,” she had warned her offspring, “was the lowest form of speech. Royal family members aren’t naive about the tidal wave of headlines about to drown them all in controversy, having experienced a dress rehearsal of Prince Harry’s indiscretions in the infamous Oprah Winfrey interview.

The family “is very much not racist,” was Prince William’s rare response to a reporter whose question was referencing the interview. His brother had managed to tar the entire family with the same brush by mentioning a royal member who had speculated on what color Prince Harry’s future progeny would be — given his racially mixed marriage.

The prince wasn’t alone in wreaking havoc on reputations: His wife, Meghan Markle, was by his side.

Oprah’s titillating preamble promised viewers: “There is no subject off limits.” But millions of viewers in England were perplexed by the interview dissolving into a two-hour “whine-a-thon” and equally confused as to why the couple were complaining.

Perhaps the memoir will expound on those “shocking disclosures:” Meghan rattled on about how Kate, her sister-in-law, made her cry over the flower girl dresses (not the other way around as reported); she expected more guidance from the palace (although she was assigned the Queen’s favorite assistant and household staff); and the duchess complained the family “even took her passport,” despite her freedom to galivant around the world including numerous trips for vacations, visits to African nations, and even took a quick jaunt to celebrate her baby shower in New York (to the tune of 300,000 pounds).

Meghan didn’t want to appear unfair, and disclosed in the interview that Kate had “owned” her behavior and sent her flowers in the form of an apology. Such trifles seemed to hold a paramount importance in the duchess’ life — even as her father-in-law, Prince Philip, lay dying in the hospital and the world was engulfed in a viral pandemic claiming millions of lives.

There are now rumors that Prince Harry hopes to make his way back into the Royal Family once the crown is passed to a “modernizer”: his father. It would be wrong to credit Harry with making public such a ghoulish thought of sidestepping his grandmother’s original ruling on the subject, especially while she is still alive.

And it’s unlikely Prince Harry will be an honored guest at the coronation once he “lays bare his feelings” toward his father’s wife. His chances, and his wife’s prospects, of being welcomed back into the royal household grow dimmer with each mounting controversy: Meghan is now the target of a lawsuit filed by her half-sister, Samantha Markle, who alleges the royal made false statements that reflect badly on the family; and Harry appears downright tone deaf, advising firms to “give everyone (employees) time to focus on themselves” in the midst of an economic pandemic crisis.

Those benefiting most from every misstep made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are the English tabloid media. Ironically Prince Harry makes his disdain well known for the English tabloids, but continues to feed the prurient interest of the public.

If a lesson is to be learned, Prince Charles — who engaged in an ugly divorce spectacle from Princess Diana — could teach his son that nothing is to be gained from taking a family squabble into a public arena.

Humiliating a member of the family in public, in the words of the queen: “It just isn’t done.”

Germany: Entire AfD party ruled ‘suspected threat to democracy,’ opening door to mass surveillance of opposition party

In an unprecedented step, a German court on Tuesday evening ruled that German domestic law enforcement can now label the Alternative for Germany (AfD) a “suspected threat” to democracy, which would allow the government to utilize wiretaps on all members and politicians in the party and use informants.

After the ruling from the administrative court in Cologne, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) can now move forward with surveillance measures that are expected to severely restrict the activities and membership interest in the AfD, one of the largest parties in the country.

The court announced that there were sufficient factual indications of anti-constitutional efforts within the AfD, reported German newspaper Die Welt.

While smaller extremist parties have been designated a “suspected case,” in the past, the AfD received millions of votes in the last election and has a position in both the German and EU parliaments. The move may demonstrate a lack of tolerance for differing political opinions in Germany’s increasing questionable liberal democratic model.

The AfD has been especially targeted for its opposition to mass immigration, which is a position increasingly at odds with Germany’s dominant liberal establishment.

The Cologne court argued that there were signs that the AfD sought to reduce non-German ethnicities in Germany and displayed “undemocratic” goals, while the AfD party argued in vain that it was not propagating any ethnic concept. Also, the party stressed that its polemical criticism of other parties or the federal government is not a criticism of the parliamentary system itself but a part of the country’s political debate.

In its reasoning behind the ruling, the court countered that in the youth organization Junge Alternative (JA) and the formally dissolved right “wing” of the AfD party harbored an ethnic concept of Germany’s people. According to the verdict, this is contrary to the concept of the people in the German Basic Law, which serves as the country’s constitution.

A ‘surprise’ verdict

AfD’s co-chairman Tino Chrupalla said he was surprised and disappointed by the verdict.

“We were surprised by the verdict on being classified as a suspected case. We do not share the view of the Cologne administrative court. We had hoped for a different result. After all, we were able to succeed with two appeals,” commented Chrupalla.

He will now wait for the written reasoning of the judgment. A decision will then be made as to whether “further appeals will be filed.”

The head of the AfD parliamentary group in the Bundestag, Alice Weidel, told Junge Freiheit that the AfD would “of course continue to legally defend itself.”

The AfD achieved partial success with its lawsuit against the classification of the AfD’s “wing” as “extremist.” Based on the sources presented by the German intelligence service, it is unclear whether the “wing” still exists as an internal AfD association. Therefore, the Office for the Protection of the Constitution can no longer publicly announce that the organization has been classified as a “secure extremist effort.”

In another lawsuit, the administrative court also prohibited the Office for the Protection of the Constitution from publicly claiming that the “wing” had 7,000 members.

However, the AfD’s lawsuit against the classification of the Junge Alternative as a suspected case was rejected. The party can still appeal against the verdict.

Raid on mosque in Dortmund, Germany: “Hotbed of Islamism”

Large police operation in the Dortmund city area. The North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of the Interior has banned an Islamic cultural association. Now police officers are enforcing the ban with a raid. Heavily armed, they searched a mosque and several flats in the Nordstadt on Thursday morning ( March 10).

The association “Islamischer Kulturverein Nuralislam” is now considered anti-constitutional. This was announced by the state ministry of the interior of North Rhine-Westphalia. The association is against the constitutional order and the idea of international understanding, according to the announcement by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Minister of the Interior Herbert Reul ( Christian Democratic Union, CDU) plans to comment on the ban and the raid on Thursday.

A police spokeswoman told a German press agency (DPA) that there had been a police raid in Dortmund on Thursday at a mosque and at the homes of officials of the association. This is where a large part of the banned association’s activities take place. The aim was to seize the association’s assets and to secure data carriers.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, the association would be dissolved with immediate effect. Moreover, no substitute organisations may be formed and no other activities may be carried out. Several websites will also be banned, according to the ministry’s announcement.
According to DPA, several police officers took part in the raid – dogs were also used. The building is a house with several floors.

Now the North Rhine-Westphalia Minister of the Interior, Herbert Reul ( Christian Democratic Union, CDU), has also commented on the raid in Dortmund’s Nordstadt district. “What we closed today was a hotbed of Islamism,” said Reul. About 150 police officers had been on duty in the early morning, he said. Mobile phones, laptops, data storage devices, a car and account balances amounting to 54,000 euros had been confiscated.

Officials of the mosque association were representatives of the radical Salafist ideology and were ideologically close to the terrorist organisation Islamic State (IS), explained the North Rhine-Westphalia Interior Minister. The association had also been a recruitment centre for the IS-affiliated Abu Walaa network, which had organised the departure of at least seven young men to the IS combat zones.
