Germany: “German-Lebanese” man races through the city in an illegal car race and has almost 800,000 euros in counterfeit money with him

On Thursday evening ( May 8), there was an illegal motor vehicle race in Oberhausen. The driver and the vehicle were located by the police officers.

According to the current state of the investigation, the following facts are assumed: At 8:14 pm, the control centre was informed by a witness who was on Bebelstraße at the time of the call. The reason for the call: there was a white Golf car behind him which appeared to be in a great hurry. This was reflected in the fact that the driver was extremely close to the witness. The driver then continued to overtake repeatedly via left-turn lanes and also in a risky manner through oncoming traffic, always exceeding the speed limit. During the ensuing manhunt, the Golf was spotted parked in Ebertstraße. As the suspect was about to drive off again, a patrol car crew managed to block the Golf’s path. During the subsequent check, another witness appeared on the scene who had already noticed the 19-year-old (nationality: German-Lebanese) on Mülheimer Straße. Here, the suspect also exceeded the speed limit enormously, overtook at high risk through oncoming traffic and attracted attention with further risky driving manoeuvres.

The police officers therefore seized both the suspect’s vehicle and driving licence. In addition, counterfeit money totalling 750.00 euros was found on the suspect, which was also seized. The 19-year-old is now facing two criminal proceedings.
