Norway: Syrian man stabs passer-by – three seriously injured

The police stated in a press release that there is a family relationship between the attacker and one of the stabbing victims.

“We can confirm that there is a family relationship between the attacker and one of the stabbing victims,” said police inspector Odd Skei Kostveit. “It is a Syrian family and the perpetrator and one of the injured persons are married,” he said.

“We are now working to get an overview of the incident and therefore cannot provide any further information at this time,” Kostveit said.

Several high school students reportedly witnessed the incident. “Health staff and police are at the school and are monitoring the incident,” Numedal High School wrote on its own website.

The Ministry of Justice posted on Twitter shortly before 12.30pm that the Minister of Justice and Public Safety, Emilie Enger Mehl, had been informed of the incident.

“My thoughts are with the injured and their families. Such acts of violence are serious and distressing. I would like to thank the emergency personnel and the municipality who are coping with a difficult time,” Mehl said. Nrk
