The shock surrounding the dead newborn baby still remains profound. After the dead baby was found in a rubbish container in Kundratstraße (photo) , not far from Vienna’s Favoriten Clinic, the child’s mother confessed to the crime when questioned.
The 30-year-old Turkish woman claimed ‘family problems’ as her motive, as the police told the Austrian Press Agency (APA) on Sunday. The autopsy revealed that the newborn died as a result of blunt force trauma and had suffered massive craniocerebral trauma and several broken bones.
According to the latest information, the newborn did not die due to her mother’s mental depression, as initially assumed, but because of the ‘ wounded honour’ of the men within the Turkish family clan. The mother and father of the little girl are said not to have been married and the child appeared to be considered undesirable in the community, as reported by the newspaper ‘Kronen-Zeitung’.
