Rioters have ripped out organ pipes and knocked over the altar cross in the Frauenkirche church in Görlitz (built 1459-1473). In addition, the unknown perpetrators smashed display cases in the Frauenkirche on Monday night and stole microphones, amplifiers, hymnals and Bibles, according to police on Tuesday.
It was initially unclear how the perpetrators got into the building. The amount of damage could not yet be estimated.
The criminal investigation department secured traces and initiated an investigation into malicious damage to property.
