Has the Corona uprising started in Florida?

Maskless and happy: Florida Governor Ron De Santis. Twitter

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is currently the loudest opponent of US President Joe Biden’s nonsensical Corona policy which aims to make injections that do not stop illness or transmission mandatory.

In America’s “Sunshine State”, there are not any outlandish Corona restrictions. As early as June, the governor speaking at the jam-packed music festival Gulf Coast Jam, mocked the president’s health advisor Anthony Fauci: “In Florida, we choose freedom instead of faucism.” As a result of his policies, DeSantis was described as the “Angel of Death” in the Atlantic.

Stanford medical professor Jay Bhattacharya is an important advisor to DeSantis and his devastating verdict has been that the lockdowns were “the biggest mistake in the history of public health policy”. The doctor initiated the Great Barrington Declaration together with his colleagues Sunetra Gupta and Martin Kulldorff. It calls for an end to the lockdowns.

DeSantis was also one of the first politicians to openly oppose a vaccination requirement. Even so, the state has a fairly high vaccination rate.

The figures from the US state give a mixed picture: Vaccination rates are very high, which Biden-loyal media like to emphasize. But that is a shell game, because only the absolute numbers are high – which is to be expected in a populous federal state. In terms of the number of residents, Florida is closer to the national average.

Critics bring the warm climate into play as an argument against DeSantis and claim that in view of the lack of winter, the number should be lower than elsewhere.

Defenders of the governor, however, point out that the tropical climate in the southern state attracts a large number of old people. This happens to be the age group that is particularly badly affected by the virus.

DeSantis has meanwhile banned all discrimination against unvaccinated people. Demanding proof of vaccination, which is now standard in New York and most of Europe, is illegal in Florida. DeSantis also wanted to prohibit social networks like Twitter and Facebook from censoring journalists. A court stopped a corresponding law which DeSantis appealed.

The governor also on Wednesday proposed a law that would allow parents to hold schools accountable if their children are taught Critical Race Theory (CRT) in public schools. Known as the “Stop WOKE Law” [WOKE is the abbreviation of the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees Act], it would support the Florida State Board of Education vote to ban CRT.

He also signed into law a ban on transgenders from competing in girls’ and women’s sports on the first day of LGBTQ Pride Month to protect “the fairness and integrity of women’s athletics”.

DeSantis has become popular among Republicans, especially former Trump supporters, with many polls showing him as the frontrunner for the GOP nomination in 2024 if former President Donald Trump decides not to run. Trump has been tarnished by his insistence on pushing vaccines.

According to pundits, the 43-year-old DeSantis is being touted as a candidate for the presidency but there is still a long way to go and any prediction would be impossible. Only one thing seems clear: Even if DeSantis never moves into the White House, a massive turnaround in Corona policy has been set in motion by the governor.

And that would also have an effect on Europe as critical voices against Biden’s Corona policy grow louder in the US. A change in mood cannot be ruled out. If the current, restrictive Corona policy is really turned on its head, the reason may be because many level-headed Americans like Senator Rand Paul and many fearless American physicians together with DeSantis, contributed to that.

Those following Dr Fauci’s “science” the most slavishly, are the Europeans. They have so far done everything that has been demanded from them by the “experts”, with unquestioning compliance even though it is clearly not working.
