Anti-Semitic attack in the middle of Cologne city centre!
Around 7 pm on Friday, a shop detective confronted a suspected thief ( aged 27) in front of a shop on Schildergasse. He overpowered him, asked passers-by for assistance.
An Iraqi wearing a kippa ( aged 22) came to his aid – at which point one of two Syrian suspects allegedly insulted him with reference to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The other one allegedly hit him in the face with his fist.
The alleged thug was arrested and released on Saturday morning. He is being investigated for assault.
The police are still searching for the second person involved in the crime, who is living in Bremen. The State Security Service is investigating him for insult and incitement of the people.
