France: Pupil threatens his teacher with the doom of Samuel Paty, a teacher murdered by Islamists

On Tuesday November 16, in Nîmes, a local secondary school student was admonished by a teacher and the student responded by asking her if she knew about Samuel Paty. The teacher filed a complaint and the boy was taken into police custody at the police station. The 14-year-old pupil was charged with threatening behaviour and was to be brought before the public prosecutor in Nîmes on Thursday November 18.

The art teacher of the Collège du Mas-de-Mingue filed a complaint on Wednesday because of the remarks of one of her students. On Tuesday, during a lesson, the teacher had criticised this student for his disruptive behaviour. When the teacher approached the 14-year-old student, he asked her if she could remember Samuel Paty. The student then refused to apologise. He reportedly stated that he had no intention of threatening the teacher.

The secondary school student was taken into police custody and questioned by the police officers at the police station. The minor was to be brought before the Nîmes public prosecutor’s office on Thursday November 18. He is accused of committing “acts of intimidation against a person performing a public duty”.
