Was the headmistress too tolerant? The death threats against her, posted on the Facebook account of the public school she runs in Paris, began in May, at the end of the school year. The originator, a high school student who was “pushed to expel”, as he put it, wanted to “cut the headmistress’ throat like they once did with Mr Samuel Paty”. She finally filed a complaint on the morning of Monday October 25.
The young man claimed to be acting on behalf of Kadyrov (Ramzan Kadyrov, the pro-Russian leader of the Chechen Republic since 2007, editor’s note) and “Sultan” Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkey. Then his intentions became more precise: the young man addressed himself directly to the headmaster’s official email address and wanted to ” destroy ” the one he accused of being the cause of his school setbacks. After the conversation between the two protagonists, the former student apologised.
But on Monday he made new threats, which indicated that this time he was ready to act. He told a friend that he had burned his French papers in order to cut the director’s throat. According to the police, he said he hated “France, the West and Europe” and wanted to burn the French flag in the schoolyard.
When tracking down his emails, investigators also found threatening insults against the victim’s daughter, whom he wanted to “rape and cut her throat”. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody on Monday afternoon. At the end of his remand, he will be brought before a judge who will decide on his legal proceedings.
Recently, a construction worker in Marseille had threatened some teachers by referring to the murder of Samuel Paty. After his arrest, he appeared in court, but the hearing was postponed until November.
