In a press release, Aix-Marseille University is appealing to American researchers who fear threats, obstruction or censorship of their research by the Trump administration, particularly climate researchers.
“In a context where some scientists in the United States may feel threatened or hindered in their research, our university announces that it is setting up a program dedicated to welcoming scientists wishing to continue their work in an environment conducive to innovation, excellence and academic freedom ,” announced the university.
In recent years, 25 researchers from Ukraine, Yemen, Afghanistan or more recently the Palestinian territories have been welcomed in the south of France with their families, as part of the “Pause” program , which supports researchers and artists forced into exile.
American scientists will be able to study side-by-side with top-notch scientist talent from Yemen and Hamas. Just imagine the breakthroughs in transgender global warming suicide bombing they’ll be able to unleash.
Don’t get too excited, woke PhDs in post-scientific science viewed through a lens of critical race theory just yet.
The university’s “Safe Place for Science” program will provide 10 to 15 million euros ($11 to 16 million) that can accommodate around 15 researchers over three years.
$16 million won’t buy any more than a publicity stunt, which is what this is. But I think if the ‘researchers’ in question promised to stay in France and not come back, we could probably manage to subsidize this.
