A 39-year-old man intended to attack police officers and civilians in Laon (Aisne). This was said by a relative of the suspect who had alerted the police, as reported by the Europe 1 channel.
The police were called at around 10 am. According to this relative, the 30-year-old was in possession of a knife and a Qur’ an and intended to “kill policemen and civilians”.He was so far not known for any alleged radicalisation, but was already known to the police for committing a number of offences.
The police had been searching for him since early morning and were finally able to arrest him in the early afternoon in the forecourt of Laon station as he was harassing women. A knife with a 30 cm blade and a Qur’ an were found in his pocket. He is said to be suffering from psychological problems.
