What was the reason for the threats that were allegedly made? A leak in the gutter of the rectory. A 58-year-old man accused of threats and aggression against a priest appeared before the criminal court in Foix (Ariège) on Thursday January 5, 2023.
Father Jean Ngendakuriyo, a priest in Tarascon-sur-Ariège, was allegedly subjected to massive threats. The accused is reported to have said: “If my son were here, he would have cut your throat and thrown you in the rubbish”. These remarks were reported by the regional daily La Dépêche du Midi, which was present at the trial. On the witness stand, the man denied having made such threats. He accused the priest Jean Ngendakuriyo of calling him a “dirty Muslim”.
At the request of Actu.fr, the Foix prosecutor’s office asked for an eight-month suspended prison sentence and a five-year ban on carrying a weapon.
The court’s decision will be announced on February 2. (…) Actu.fr
