Two young men aged 18 and 17 were arrested at Villeparisis RER station (Seine-et-Marne) on Thursday morning after a long-running police search. One of them was armed with a rifle and had been reported shortly beforehand by passengers on a train in Paris.
Two suspects, aged 18 and 17, were arrested shortly after 10am on Thursday morning at the Villeparisis – Mitry-le-Neuf RER station (Seine-et-Marne) while carrying an unloaded rifle. Both were travelling illegally on French soil, according to a source familiar with the case, who confirmed a Europe 1 report.
It all started in the early morning in Paris when two RER passengers contacted the police and told them that a man in a djellaba was sitting on a train with a rifle concealed under his clothes. The train was at Denfert-Rochereau station in Paris (XIV arrondissement) at the time.
The search for the suspect continued and eventually the suspect and a 17-year-old youth were arrested in the Seine-et-Marne department. The weapon, which is believed to be a 22 Long Rifle calibre rifle, was found on the adult teenager.
