The defendants, arrested after an unprecedented police investigation, were brought before the Paris Special Court for allegedly planning an attack near the Élysée Palace.
This is the culmination of an operation that began in 2019 and required an extraordinary effort by various police and intelligence agencies. Five people were brought before the Paris Special Jury Court on charges of “criminal terrorist organisation”. They were radical Islamists and planned an attack for which they targeted the area around the Élysée Palace.
The 39-year-old Alexandre B., an employee of the Paris municipality who converted to Islam, publishes heinous videos of Daech and collects information to obtain weapons. The Parquet National Antiterroriste launches an investigation and the DGSI is able to carry out a cyber-infiltration: It is carried out by an agent who calls himself “Abu Mohamed” and introduces himself as an admirer of the Islamic State.
A new protagonist, Karim B., also appears. He calls himself “Allah’s Samurai” and is described as a dangerous schizophrenic who writes notes justifying the murder of women and children. He lives in a foster home in Chelles in the department of Seine-et-Marne and has convinced his educators that he is deradicalised. (…) Le Figaro
