A man choked a woman on the street in Nice ( the Alpes-Maritimes department) on Thursday night, shouting “Allah Akbar”. He was arrested and taken into custody.
The police were called by residents shortly after 3am: In Trachel street in the centre of Nice, a person was choking a woman while shouting “Allah Akbar”. The police were quickly on the scene and located the victim, a woman in her forties.
“She showed signs of strangulation and was in shock,” confirmed a source familiar with the investigation. The victim had stated that she knew the perpetrator of the attack. The latter could be her significant other. Police went in search of the suspect and quickly spotted him in a nearby street, where he was arrested. “The suspect spoke only Arabic language at the time and had no ID or weapon on him,” the source said.
