Because of her reporting, a freelancer of the newspaper “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung” (“NOZ”) has apparently been massively threatened. Two brothers had to answer for a robbery and several burglaries. They have since been sentenced to prison. Under the headline “Clan trial with Rolex”, the journalist had raised the question of how the family with Lebanese roots could finance their lifestyle with social benefits. Shortly afterwards, a motorcyclist allegedly fired into the air in front of her house. She then saw an unknown person videoing her house. The headlights of her car were smashed. During the trial, the partner of one of the accused allegedly whispered to her: “Shut up”. The journalist apparently left the courtroom shocked, the prosecution was surprised when no reporters came even to the pleadings. The “NOZ” editor-in-chief and the employee did not want to comment on the case.
