‘Cemetery of the infidels, the stinkers’: A Muslim employee of the Belgian municipality of Auderghem films himself insulting the deceased in Arabic at a cemetery

A video recently shared on social media has stirred up heated responses. It shows a municipal employee filming himself in the Auderghem cemetery while making insulting comments on Snapchat. In the video, the official describes the place as a ‘kuffar cemetery’ (Arabic for ‘infidel’) and ‘khanez cemetery’ (Arabic for ‘stinker’). He also claims: ‘Wallah, we have no life. We work for the community, but the truth is it sucks’. At the grave of a recently deceased woman, he asks, ‘Who is this again?’, and while filming another grave, he says, ‘Who is this old grandpa?’. The video ends with the words: ‘The whole thing disgusts me’. Sud Info

(…) When asked, the mayor of Auderghem, Sophie de Vos (Défi), explained that she was taking the matter very seriously. ‘We immediately took care of the video from the cemetery, both administratively and legally. The board will deal with the case on Tuesday. This is completely unacceptable.’ An internal investigation is currently underway to shed light on the matter.Sud Info
