Deadly family feud in Magdeburg: On Sunday morning, an argument between several people escalated and ended in a bloodbath. Two of those involved are dead, three others were injured.
The Magdeburg police homicide squad is currently investigating the circumstances. According to information from newspaper BILD, the people involved are Azerbaijanis who got into an argument on Oldenburger Straße at around 4.40 am.
“All of the people are related to each other by family,” said police spokesman Stefan Brodtrück. According to BILD information, the fatalities are said to be a 42-year-old woman and a boy (9). Three other children are injured: a boy (17) and two girls (13, 15).
Police spokesman Brodtrück told BILD: “According to the current state of the investigation, an 18-year-old is said to have attacked other people with an as yet unknown object during the course of the altercation.”
It is unclear why the brutal fight broke out and what weapon was used. The suspected killer was arrested near the scene. The injured were taken to a clinic. According to the police spokesman, there was no danger to uninvolved third parties.
Investigations are currently taking place at the crime scene. The area has been cordoned off, the police and forensics are on duty. The other family members, witnesses and emergency services are being given counselling.
