The Berlin Senate has funded projects with about 105,000 euros, which should, among other things, advance the inner-Islamic dialogue. According to a report in the newspaper “Welt am Sonntag”, funding was given, among others, to the Council of Imams, which has members who, according to the newspaper’s research, belong to mosque congregations that have been identified by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution as Islamist.
A spokesperson for the Senate Department for Culture told the Deutsche Presse-Agentur on Saturday that his department was also responsible for churches, religions and ideological communities. “In this context, there was funding for a project whose content was to network Muslim representatives of the faith in the city.
The payments involved about 50,000 euros and 55,000 euros. These payments were for project funding, not for individuals. “We were not aware of them,” said the spokesperson.
