Austrian left-wing politician posts on “Leonie murder case”: “Normal sex afternoon that got out of hand”

A former Social Democratic Party (SPÖ) municipal councillor in Pressbaum, district of St. Pölten, in Lower Austria, is currently causing an angry reaction with a “Twitter” posting.

Afghans’ lives destroyed just like Leonie’s

Sybille Zeisel, who according to information from the municipal office was an SPÖ councillor in Pressbaum from April 2010 to March 2013, sees the lives of the three Afghans who were convicted of the murder and rape of 13-year-old Leonie on December 2 – not yet legally binding, so the presumption of innocence still applies – as being just as destroyed as Leonie’s. She also sees it as a “completely normal sex afternoon”. Moreover, for them it was apparently not murder and rape, but a “normal sex afternoon that got out of hand”. See Sybille Zeisel’s “Twitter” entry of December 6:

Translation: The aim of the action was a drug-dominated afternoon with sex. Like thousands of people a day, I’m sure. But it got out of hand and ended very, very tragically. Do we learn from it? No. Because questioning is uncomfortable. Simple lynch law is more comfortable.
“Have you lost all decency?”

The comment authors under this “tweet” can hardly believe Zeisl’s scribblings. “Have you lost all decency?” asks one user. Another says: “You obviously don’t realise it, but all you do on this topic is spout characterlessness. Like 1000 times a day for sure”. Helmut K. writes in his reply to Zeisel’s post: “Would you also say that to the girl’s relatives? I’m really interested”. And Helmut B. remarks: ” That’s so out of line. Imagine it was about your child. It sucks”. And this is only a small excerpt of what the ex-SPÖ councillor, who chose “Sybille Zeisel, red Xindl” as her Twitter account name, heard and read in response to her statements.

Editor of Austrian Broadcasting Corporation ORF worried about traumatisation

Zeisel’s compassion for the three Afghans is also reminiscent of the question posed by a journalist at the press conference held at the Ministry of the Interior on June 29, 2021, after the gruesome crime became known. This journalist, an ORF employee, was indeed worried about the traumatisation of the crime suspects, who would, after all, come from the country at war. He asked in all seriousness whether Austria had done enough for these young people.
