With the changes to the German Infection Protection Act, the Bundestag decided on the so-called surcharge for clinics. This means that hospitals that treat Covid patients will again receive money from the federal budget.
The system of the surcharge is based on the previous compensation payments: Depending on the effort and number of Covid 19 patients, this surcharge is 360, 560 or 760 euros per hospital day. The hospital can now multiply this sum by 0.9 and 13.9 (currently the average length of stay of Covid-19 patients) and bill it.
The care surcharge is only paid to clinics that treat Covid patients for more than two days. In addition, the payments must be offset against Corona-related revenue declines for full compensation of the 2021 pandemic year.
Criticism in this regard comes from large clinics. The Alliance of Large Municipal Hospitals (AKG), for example, called for the minimum length of stay to be increased to five days and for the care surcharge not to be offset against the year-round compensation. The reporting and control of the number of cases, as well as the rapid flow of money, should be handled by the federal states as with the previous compensation payments.
The German Hospital Association and the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds must submit a verification procedure by the end of November. The regulations apply retrospectively from November 1 to March 19, 2022.
There is also good news for rehab clinics: The possibility for the federal states to designate rehab facilities as auxiliary facilities in which Covid patients can be admitted who require acute inpatient treatment that cannot be postponed will be reactivated and extended until March 19, 2022.
In addition to the Corona surcharge in SGB V, the SodEG will also be extended until March 19. With the Social Service Provider Employment Act (SodEG), the prerequisites were created to cushion the economically disadvantageous consequences of the Coronavirus pandemic through subsidy payments for social service providers.
This is the background against which intensive care physicians are claiming that the situation is spiralling out of control, federal states have hardly any free intensive care beds left, intensive care beds are becoming scarce and the situation in hospitals is dramatic. The lies are intended to scare the population into getting the useless jab.
Health Minister Jens Spahn just a few days ago warned that patients may have to be moved abroad or die. Instead, it now turns out that the Netherlands are moving Covid-19 patients to German clinics.
Die Welt reported that because of increasing patient numbers, Dutch hospitals are again relocating Covid-19 patients to clinics in North Rhine-Westphalia. The first ambulance left Rotterdam on Tuesday morning, said a spokeswoman for the national organization for the distribution of patients. The patient should be admitted to the BG University Hospital Bochum. Another patient transport should follow during the day.
In hospitals in North Rhine-Westphalia there is space for a total of 20 patients from the Netherlands. The patients are transported in specially equipped ambulances (Mobile Intensive Care Units) and accompanied by a doctor and a nurse.
