When Abdi M. (24) arrived in Germany illegally on February 22, 2014 and applied for asylum here, no one expected the problems the young Somali would cause. These problems started just a few days after he arrived at the reception centre for asylum seekers, or “Afa” for short, in Trier. Less than a week later, he showed his true colours. On March 3, 2014, it was Shrove Monday, he raped a 16-year-old girl and attacked a 21-year-old woman in Trier. One day after the crime he was remanded in custody and on October 1, 2014, he was sentenced by the Trier Regional Court to a juvenile sentence of six years, among other things for rape. Further offences followed, even in prison, where incidents with female staff occurred.
Abdi M. was sentenced for committing exhibitionist offences in prison (he had exposed himself in front of a staff member and a trainee).
Abdi M. was sentenced for committing exhibitionist offences in prison (he had exposed himself in front of a staff member and a trainee). But the end of his detention was imminent and the district of Cochem-Zell was in a state of consternation. The reason: The asylum seeker was assigned to the district of Cochem-Zell in 2015 by distribution order of the ADD Trier. Therefore, according to the State Reception Act, the district was “obliged to welcome and accommodate him”.
But the district wanted to prevent the serious criminal from arriving in a town in the district of Cochem-Zell by all means. Therefore, the asylum seeker was deported in a covert action on April 13. And he was deported in a private jet. The district administration was already aware at the time that the costs could be between 50,000 and 100,000 euros. Now – a good seven months later – the total costs are available. The Federal Police Headquarters has invoiced the district for the repatriation within the framework of a charter flight measure in the amount of 82,045.31 euros. In addition, the Federal Police Headquarters charged another 20,000 euros for the security escort, which adds up to 106,045.31 euros.
Initially, the district had still hoped that the amount, or at least a share, would be reimbursed by the federal government or the state. However, this is apparently not the case. Now the district committee is to decide on the “unbudgeted expenditure” next Monday.
