Emergency on the federal motorway 14!
Allegedly, an Islamist motivated person wanted to blow up motorway bridges in the area of the Schkeuditzer Kreuz (located near the Leipzig-Halle cargo airport, Saxony). A threat was reported to the police in the morning.
The Halle police department confirmed to the newspaper BILD that there had been a threat of an attack in the area of the motorway. Police spokeswoman Antje Hoppen said on Monday morning: “We have been given an unspecific tip-off about a dangerous situation in the area of the motorway A14. We are taking this information very seriously. The criminal investigation department is conducting intensive investigations.”
In the morning, an anonymous witness had sent an email to the police in Leipzig and Halle, as well as to the riot police in Saxony, reporting the planned attack. The police went out and investigated all possible bridges.
On Monday afternoon, the all-clear was given: “After intensive investigations by the criminal investigation department, it was very quickly possible to assume that there was no seriousness. The buildings in the area concerned were nevertheless checked very thoroughly. No danger to public safety resulted from this.”
The police in Halle have now set up a BAO ( Special Task Force) to clarify the background of the threat and to find the perpetrator.
