Rachid Choukri already served eleven years behind bars for the murder of the kiosk saleswoman. In the verdict, the particular seriousness of the crime was determined, so there is no possibility of early release for the Algerian.
And yet he is now free. He jumped out of a lawyer’s room on the 1st floor of the Regensburg court building, where he had a meeting with his legal representative. Due to the protection of attorney-client privilege, court guards have to wait outside the door for such appointments.
Choukri was soon to be tried again. He was to stand trial for resisting law enforcement officers for assaulting guards in prison.
