Two men allegedly shouted banned slogans in the street Mauerstraße in the downtown area of Kassel on Wednesday evening and then attacked a blind woman.
According to police spokeswoman Ulrike Schaake, the woman was standing at the bus stop at around 10.30 pm when she heard two men shouting “Sieg Heil” several times nearby. She demanded that the unknown men refrain from these shouts, whereupon the two perpetrators approached her, insulted her as a “Nazi” and “racist” and then attacked her, according to the woman from Kassel.
After the men had knocked her to the ground and kicked her, they fled in an unknown direction. The victim suffered no visible injuries, but was taken to hospital by ambulance for medical examination.
The police search for the two perpetrators, who are said to have spoken German with an Eastern European accent, was unsuccessful.
The police are now investigating the use of symbols of unconstitutional organisations, dangerous bodily harm and insult. Witnesses who witnessed the crime or who can give information about the perpetrators can contact the police by calling 0561/9100.
