The onslaught of illegals on Hungary’s southern border continues unabated – the number of migrants there has more than doubled compared to last year. According to the Hungarian border police, more than 100 000 illegals have already been arrested this year.
The Hungarian Prime Minister’s chief advisor for internal security, György Bakondi, now told the news channel M1: “Most of the arriving refugees are still young men who try to cross the Hungarian border in large groups.” So far, Hungarian police and soldiers have been attacked 230 times and the border fence and its technical equipment have often been damaged. Some illegals have even been seen with firearms, he said.
In this context, Bakondi underlined that Hungary’s migration policy had not changed since 2015. Now, he said, a food crisis was looming in many poorer regions of the world, which the Hungarian government was watching closely. It is conceivable that famine could lead to a new wave of migration.
