Germany: North Africans spray pepper spray and beat passers-by with telescopic batons

A total of four unknown men approached a group of people standing in front of a hotel on Karolinenplatz square in Darmstadt on Sunday night ( May 1st) at around 4.15 a.m. One of the men then abruptly sprayed pepper spray into the group. Two other attackers hit a 23-year-old man with telescopic batons, injuring him. The 23-year-old man had to be treated for his injuries. In total, eight women and men aged between 20 and 24 suffered minor injuries. The attackers then fled on foot in the direction of the Herrngarten. An immediate manhunt has so far been unsuccessful. The police are now investigating for dangerous bodily harm.

The suspects are all between 15 and 20 years old and, according to the witnesses, have a North African appearance. One of the attackers was wearing a black jacket with a fur collar, another is said to be corpulent and wearing light-coloured clothes.
