The climate cult “Last Generation” is getting serious. It has now attempted to disrupt pipeline supplies as part of ongoing protest actions. The sabotage actions took place in at least two German states.
Photos circulated by the sect on social media showed an activist standing next to a valve on a pumping station near Ramersbach in Rhineland-Palatinate. The Koblenz police said two people had been stopped. Criminal proceedings are being initiated, they added.
Another activist stated in a video that she had pressed the “emergency wheel” at the “Friendship” oil pipeline near Schwedt in Brandenburg and interrupted the flow of crude oil. The police responsible for Schwedt in Frankfurt (Oder) confirmed the incident. According to the police, a man and a woman were involved, who had chained or glued themselves to the equipment. Whether the oil flow was actually interrupted remained uncertain.
In a press release, the group said that “crude oil pipelines had been turned off all over Germany, thus interrupting the flow of oil”. In teams of two, activists had entered the emergency shut-off stations of the pipelines and “activated the shut-off valves with their own hands”, which in emergencies allowed the flow of oil and gas to be turned off safely.
The group had already announced its action last week. The security authorities have been registering a radicalisation of the climate protests for some time.
