Anyone working in the health sector in Bavaria who has not been vaccinated or recovered by March 15 will lose their job. Clinics now want to fill the resulting vacancies with applicants from Africa and the Middle East.
“I reckon that we could lose 50 to 80 employees because of compulsory vaccination. That is quite a blow,” moaned the head of the district hospital in Ebersberg (Bavaria). The reason: According to the latest version of the Bavarian Infection Protection Act, health care workers must prove by March the 15th that they have been fully vaccinated against the Corona virus or have recovered – otherwise they are not allowed to resume work. Out of 1100 hospital employees, about 150 are neither vaccinated nor recovered, 80 employees, including doctors, are from the nursing sector. Those who cannot provide proof after March the 15th will automatically be banned from entering the hospital and from working there.
And word is apparently spreading around the world, because as the clinic reports according to the newspaper “Münchner Merkur”, it has recently been receiving a great many applications from Africa and the Middle East. “People in these regions are observing the debate in Germany very closely. We look at the applicants. If their education is recognised and they speak sufficient German, we may be able to gain new workers here,” says the clinic director.
