An Afghan slashes his wife’s throat in Berlin. “In Germany, the man has no value,” he says.
Berlin – Day 6 in the Pankow murder trial for the killing of a woman. On April 29, 2022, Zohra (31) dies after being stabbed 13 times and having her throat slit in the street.
Gul A. (42) now faces the maximum sentence. The independent lifestyle of the mother of six had offended him, according to the murder charge.
Gul A. breaks his silence – and presents himself as a victim:
“I am illiterate. We fled from the Taliban. They killed my mother and two brothers. Shot me in the neck. That confused me in my mind. I left with my wife and children, what else were we left to do.”
He sold a house, borrowed money for smugglers. “Instead of a big ship across the sea, it was just a rubber dinghy, we tied the baby twins to our life jackets.”
“For one and a half years my life in Germany was good and happy. We got 2600 euros a month on the account, my wife had the cash card. We went to German classes, the children to school and day care.”
“I ask what happens with all the money. She said it’s none of my business. Damn it, we came to Germany so the children could go to school, but not in torn shoes! But the man has nothing to say in Germany. Why does the woman have value here and the man doesn’t? I came to Germany and here the woman doesn’t even give me money to buy something for the children? She sent the money to her parents, who never helped us. I said: The government here gives us the money for the children. If you work yourself, you can send as much money as you want, but not the money from the office for the children!”
“She is spending the night with another man. I stayed alone with the children. In the morning she changed her clothes, took her bag and left. I never learned to cook, always just worked. She didn’t even make breakfast anymore. She said: I don’t want to live with you anymore. I saw her with the other man. She claimed to the police that I hit her. But I didn’t. Her sister said to me: You have nothing to say here, in Germany the woman has the floor! I felt so sad. Who made these laws?”
“She didn’t want me or the children. I spent so much money to get us to Germany. She was with the other man. My heart was bleeding. I had pressure in my head. She abandoned her six children. Then suddenly she wanted the children. After she’d had a good time and let off steam.”
“Her sister offered me 25,000 euros if I disappeared from Germany. But I had gone to so much trouble to get to Germany. I didn’t leave Afghanistan because I was bored and joking. She only wanted the children back because of the money. She was having fun with her lover, they stopped going to school…”
On December 20, he wants to tell about the bloody deed. Verdict on February 2, 2023.
I hope someone gives him the same fate he gave his wife.
