A Brighton mosque was poorly managed following the conviction of a former trustee for encouraging terrorism, a new investigation has revealed.
The Charity Commission launched an inquiry into Brighton Mosque & Muslim Community Centre on August 3, 2022, over concerns about serious governance failures.
The investigation’s findings, released on January 21, concluded there was misconduct and mismanagement in the charity’s administration.
The Charity Commission, which oversees charities in England and Wales, stepped in after discovering failures to resolve a serious dispute that had damaged the organisation’s governance.
The role included managing the charity’s finances and overseeing cash donations exceeding £17,000.
The regulator said: “The Commission’s intervention and the appointment of the interim manager were necessary to restore proper governance and administration to the charity.”
Having completed their responsibilities, the interim manager was removed from their position in December 2023.
Five new trustees were appointed by the regulator in August 2023 to run the charity, following a thorough recruitment exercise by the interim manager.
The inquiry also led to the disqualification of former trustee Dr Karim Aboutayab in July 2024 for a period of four years and six months.
The Commission found Dr Aboutayab had “greater culpability” for the mismanagement discovered in the charity’s affairs.
His misconduct included using an “inflammatory” tone towards others which contributed to escalating disputes, and failing to file the charity’s annual accounts on time.
Joshua Farbridge, head of inspections at the regulator, said: “Abusing a charity to encourage terrorism is a grave breach of public trust and we expect all trustees to take steps to ensure their charities cannot become safe havens for terrorist or extremist views.”
He added: “While the earlier criminal conviction was outside the scope of our inquiry, what occurred at Brighton Mosque and Muslim Community Centre demonstrates how serious disputes within a charity can not only severely impact its running and reputation, but leave a charity unprotected from the risk of exploitation by those with malign intentions.”
Belgian news channel RTBF refused to broadcast the inauguration speech of US President Donald Trump live, having claimed he spread a “racist, far-right, xenophobic” message.
RTBF broadcasts in the Francophone part of Belgium, where there is a strict “cordon sanitaire mediatique” in place – a policy to combat anything that resembles, in its eyes, far-right talking points.
Aurélie Didier, deputy editorial director of news at RTBF, told TV magazine Ciné-Télé-Revue on January 21: “We have seen on several occasions that Donald Trump has made racist, far-right, xenophobic remarks, incitement to hatred as well. We decided to broadcast his speech slightly later to take the time for analysis.
“It makes it possible to avoid trivialising such remarks, to normalise them. It’s not about censorship, RTBF doesn’t censor.”
According to Didier, his news desk cross-referenced the analyses of several experts, who decided that Trump made racist remarks, including saying that migrants “ate dogs and cats”.

The news desk journalists were also said to have taken offence at the fact that Trump did not recognise the results of the 2020 presidential election, “which is in effect a challenge to the American democratic system”, Didier said.
They also said he “regularly makes misogynistic remarks about women”.
Didier insisted: “The RTBF is not pro or anti-Trump. We do an impartial job. We highlight Donald Trump’s strengths, but at the same time, we frame his words because we believe it is necessary.”
Not everyone in the south of Belgium agreed with that. Georges-Louis Bouchez, President of the centre-right Liberal MR Party responded on X, saying: “There is a real problem at RTBF.”
“Who are these experts who determine right and wrong? One may not agree with the project of a new president of the United States but nothing can justify a democratically elected president receiving this treatment from small thought leaders,” he posted.
“The RTBF‘s news department is not the Ministry of Censorship and Propaganda.”
A day earlier, Bouchez was already putting pressure on the RTBF, demanding the broadcaster should get less in state subsidies. The time of “all these gifts are over”, he said.
Investigative journalist Alessandra d’Angelo said on X: “Our public service is definitely sick. Woke cancer in the terminal phase!!!”
Former politician and pundit Drieu Godefridi described RTBF as: “The only one of its kind in the world, along with North Korea!
“Can you imagine the enormity of the process, its arrogance, its grotesqueness? Are the Walloons – alone in the world! – poor little mentally handicapped people incapable of judging for themselves?” he wondered.
Godefridi claimed the public broadcaster was a state within a state and deserved to be “slapped with sanctions”.
A man claiming allegiance to the Islamic State was arrested following a PHAROS alert on Tuesday the 21st of January 2025, a police source told Valeurs Actuelles. The alert, which was received by the Seine-Saint-Denis Information and Communication Centre (CIC) at 12:24 p.m., referred to a person who declared allegiance to the Islamic State and threatened to commit crimes against the forces of law and order. The man had declared via the social network X: ‘I have barricaded myself in my bathtub with a Kalashnikov and am waiting for the forces of law and order. I am a fighter of the Islamic State in Syria, fuck your mothers, fuck the police, fuck the Jews’. In his message, he also gave his address: a flat on the 11th floor of a building in Sevran in the Seine-Saint-Denis department.
Deployment of the BRI and the GSO Based on these findings, the law enforcement agencies deployed a level three intervention force and deployed the Brigade de recherche et d’intervention (BRI) and a column of the Groupe de soutien opérationnel (GSO). Following initial investigations, the suspect was located at his workplace at the company ‘SACATEC équipement’ in Gonesse in the Val-d’Oise department. The operational support group (GSO) then went to the workplace and arrested the person at 3.15 pm without anyone being injured. The perpetrator was taken into police custody.
The BRI arrived at the person’s home at 2.45 p.m. after a cordon had been set up. The task force took over the security check of the flat, as it had not been possible to make contact with the tenant during the search. The officer from the criminal investigation department was able to start searching the house immediately, during which no suspicious objects were found.

Secret contracts between the European Commission and “green” NGOs were part of an alleged “shadow lobbying scheme”, Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf has reported.
“Organisations were assigned goals to achieve specific lobbying results with both MEPs and member states, aiming to promote a more ambitious green policy agenda,” the newspaper claimed on January 22.
On the afternoon of that day, the plenary debate in the European Parliament was due to focus on European Union financing through the LIFE programme for entities lobbying the bloc’s institutions and the pressing need for transparency.
The LIFE programme is the EU’s funding instrument for environmental and climate action.
According to De Telegraaf, Brussels used money from a billion-euro climate and environmental subsidy fund for its shadow lobbying activities. The environmental groups were required to justify their actions.
“For instance, the European Environmental Bureau [EEB] – a European umbrella organisation for green organisations – was explicitly tasked with providing at least 16 examples where the European Parliament made green legislation more ambitious thanks to their lobbying efforts.
“The controversial Nature Restoration Law, initiated by former EU Commissioner [Frans] Timmermans, also had to be ‘promoted’ by this umbrella organisation of 185 environmental groups,” the paper said.
Furthermore, according to the contract, which De Telegraaf reviewed, €700,000 in subsidies was to be used to “influence” the farming debate in a more environmentally friendly direction.
Piotr Serafin, Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration, said in a reaction to the newspaper report that it was “inappropriate to enter into agreements that require NGOs to lobby MEPs”.
“Unfortunately, such practices have occurred in the past and must be eradicated. Measures have already been taken to address this problem and I can assure everyone that they will not happen again.”
Serafin did add that NGOs were still welcome, calling their input “essential”.
Dutch MEP Dirk Gotink, of the centrist New Social Contract Party, claimed there were numerous politicians who needed to be approached regarding the matter.
As a member of the Committee on Budgetary Control, he and his colleagues promised to investigate subsidy contracts for the last five years.
“This is not a smear campaign against the environmental movement. Of course they are allowed to lobby. I am aiming my arrows at the European Commission,” he said.
“This appears to be a highly orchestrated collusion between a green coalition led by Timmermans and a left-wing majority in the European Parliament.”
Gotink wondered if the EC also paid people to manipulate debates on other issues.
“Is this one rotten apple or is it a widespread institutional practice?”
He added that the rules needed an update to prevent the EC from using taxpayer’s money to push its own ideological agenda.
Dutch MEP for the Farmer Citizen Movement (BBB) Sander Smit said: “Unacceptable how taxpayers’ money was misused by the previous Commission to subsidise green political lobbying.”
Former MEP Derk Jan Eppink said: “Green Plan economics works in a simple way: subsidise, infiltrate and manipulate. With NGOs as shock troops.”
The European Environmental Bureau Secretary-General Patrick ten Brink reacted in an open letter: “A flourishing democracy requires resources that enable citizens’ voices to reach decision-makers.
“Unlike actors with substantial resources, such as foreign governments and multinational corporations, European citizens and their civil society organisations often lack sufficient means. EU support is necessary to ensure a more level playing field.
“We believe that our involvement has helped strengthen the EU’s reputation as a global leader in the necessary global transition to a pollution-free, carbon-free future,” ten Brink said.
In December 2024, the EC informed environmental NGOs that money from the EU’s €5.4 billion LIFE programme could no longer be used for advocacy and lobbying work, implying to many that before then, they could have been.
A former UK Member of Parliament says the top security agencies of Britain, including the police and MI5, are refusing to act on detailed information they’ve been given about child trafficking into the country.
Andrew Bridgen, who served as a popular Conservative MP for North West Leicestershire from 2010 until 2024, told Infowars founder Alex Jones in a Friday interview how he had raised concerns while in Parliament about “a number of individuals” who were evidently pedophiles.
“It was always passed to the police, to the National Crime Agency, and it involves senior politicians, very senior police officers, and nothing was ever done about it,” Bridgen told Jones.
He had explained that early in his career he had seen London police quash an investigation into child prostitution — and so this appeared to be a repeating pattern of cover-up of child sex crimes.
A former policeman named Jon Wedger had discovered that “children were being taken from children’s homes in the UK and prostituted on the weekend,” and were returning “under the influence of drugs and often with terrible venereal diseases, and the people at the homes were doing nothing about it.”
Upon further investigation, Wedger “wrote a report he sent to his superiors pointing out that child prostitution in London had not been investigated for decades.” However, instead of attempting to protect the children and stop the abuse, the police “threatened” Wedger, told him to retract the report, and fired him from the police force “on false pretenses,” according to Bridgen.
Later, Bridgen met a man who conducted a two-year investigation into sex abuse by pedophile and deceased Prime Minister Edward Heath. The police concluded that, were Heath alive, “he would have been arrested and charged with pedophilia.”
“If a former MP could have been a pedophile and it was covered up, then anything is possible,” Bridgen remarked.
He then told how last year a source approached him with “information about child trafficking into the UK,” including “detailed names of people involved on the ground; where the children were being brought in; where they were being taken; where their photographs were being taken; and the name of the company that was instrumental in laundering the money” used to buy these children.
The source had brought this information to the police, to the counter-intelligence agency MI5, and to the National Crime Agency, and “nothing was done” by any of these groups. Not only did they fail to act on the information, but “mysteriously, within two days of dropping the file with the National Crime Agency,” the source’s LinkedIn profile was “visited and investigated by someone who worked at the company who was named in the file.”
“Meaning they were tipped off,” Jones noted.
Bridgen told how the source had recorded all of his phone calls with MI5, the police force, and the National Crime Agency, and when they failed to act, Bridgen “sent a file with all the information to senior politicians.”
“Eventually, all I got back was, ‘Take it to the police.’ I pointed out this had already been to the police, and it had been to MI5. There actually was an MI5 officer who had been very sympathetic and realized how important this evidence was. And he tried to push it. He was removed from the service. That’s how deep the corruption runs.”
In a June 2024 interview on the Resistance Podcast, Bridgen elaborated, “And then when you see the names, you see why. They are known names.”
He shared further horrifying details about the final end of the children who are trafficked and abused.
“They use them in the sex trade for about three years and then when they’re worn out they organ harvest them,” Bridgen shared.
“No one’s interested. No one wants to talk about it. No one wants to talk about a lot of things.”
Bridgen believes this demand for child trafficking is an explanation for the drive to continue wars around the world, including the war in Ukraine, because the conflicts present “a huge opportunity for child trafficking.”
Jones pointed out it was publicly admitted that decades ago, sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein entered war zones in Kosovo and Serbia and bought “nine- and 10-year-old girls” in order to sell them into sex slavery in the U.S. The father of Epstein’s girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, was one of the main directors of the “blackmail pedophile operations” of “MI6 and Mossad,” according to Jones.
“Ultimately, I think it’s the glue that holds the self-proclaimed elites around the world together, because once they’re involved in pedophilia or profiting from child trafficking, it’s the ultimate blackmail,” Bridgen said. “There’s no way out of the club for them. They all have to go down together.”
A trial has begun in the Bouches-du-Rhône departmental criminal court for two Algerian nationals accused of gang rape and violent theft following a brutal attack on two business school students in 2021.
On the night of Sept. 3, 2021, Arnaud and Sophie, two students enjoying an evening at the Sports Beach Club in Marseille, were violently assaulted as they left the venue to smoke a cigarette on the beachfront.
According to their testimony, they were accosted by two men on the bench who overpowered Arnaud, forcing his head into the sand and seawater. As La Provence reports, the assailants are accused of stealing the watches, mobile phones, and wallets of their victims before turning to Sophie.
Dragged to an isolated pier at Escale Borely, she was pinned down and raped by both attackers while Arnaud was held at knifepoint, unable to intervene. The court heard how the assailants argued in Arabic following the attack, which the prosecution suggested was about what to do with their victims, before fleeing the scene.
The suspects were identified by substantial DNA evidence found on Sophie’s underwear as Icham Merouane and Mohamed Benalou. Both men were living in France illegally and were subsequently arrested.
Three years later, the accused are now standing trial.
Merouane, after initially providing investigators with conflicting accounts — including a claim that his sperm had been acquired by police after a night with a prostitute to fabricate evidence — eventually admitted to rape and theft.
Benalou, however, has denied any involvement, even claiming not to know either the victims or Merouane despite the incriminating DNA evidence and accusations from his co-defendant.
Sophie, deeply traumatized by the attack, has chosen not to be present at the trial, stating that confronting her attackers is unbearable despite her strong desire for justice.
“She wants the truth to be established and for the guilty to be severely punished for having unjustly crushed and destroyed part of our lives,” a source close to the victim expressed in a statement.
Arnaud, who did attend court to provide his testimony, expressed his regret at being unable to help his friend. As a former rugby player, he has since taken up boxing following the attack.
The latest on the Aschaffenburg park attack is that the two people who were killed were a two-year-old boy of “multiple stab wounds” and a 41-year-old man. The arrested suspect is a 28-year-old Afghan male, so says local police in a statement.
The number of “seriously injured” people has been revised up from two to four, including another child and three adults, Germany’s Die Weltrelates.
Distressingly, the newspaper states the attack may have been on a group of day-care children who had been taken out to the park for a walk by their teachers. It reports the attacker followed the group, and when they tried to leave the area he attacked, allegedly “specifically targeting the children”. The deceased adult male is reported to have put himself between the knifeman and the children.
It is further asserted that “The police are said to have ruled out a terrorist background.”
Police locked down the Schöntal park close to the city centre of the town of Aschaffenburg in Bavaria, Germany around Wednesday midday after “several” people were stabbed. Police later stated two people had died, an adult and a child, and that two people in “serious” condition were receiving hospital treatment.
Initially two suspects were arrested, but one of them was quickly released and treated as a witness. A nearby railway was also shut down as it is reported the suspect attempted to flee over the tracks.
Court records have revealed that the state of Washington paid for a transgender child rapist to undergo “gender affirming” procedures while housed in a women’s prison in Gig Harbor. Brooke Lyn Sonia, formerly known as Brett David Sonia, is serving time for the horrific sexual abuse of a young girl.
Sonia was convicted on dozens of charges related to the rape and exploitation of a child. He had first initiated contact with the minor in Strafford County, New Hampshire, where he began sexually abusing the girl and photographing the lewd acts. But he would later transport the victim across state lines to Los Angeles County, California where he would continue to sexually exploit her.
Early news coverage from the case suggests that the girl, who was 13 at the time, had been groomed by Sonia into creating child sexual exploitation material. Jury selection in Strafford County was said to be “difficult,” with over one dozen potential jurors admitting they would not be able to sit on the case due to its highly disturbing nature.
As a result of the crimes being committed in two different jurisdictions, Sonia was tried in both California and New Hampshire.
In 2005, Sonia was convicted of 20 combined counts of committing a lewd act upon a child and possessing child pornography in Los Angeles County, California. The next year, he was convicted in Strafford County, New Hampshire, on charges of repeatedly raping the young girl and photographing the assaults. Many of the crime’s details were considered so graphic they were deemed “not fit for print” at the time.
As previously exclusively revealed by Reduxx, Sonia was ultimately handed sentences in both states, with the latter taking the lead in his prison term. After a minimum of 22.5 years are served towards his New Hampshire sentence, which maxes out in 2047, a Los Angeles County court will decide whether he is to serve additional time in California.
But after being incarcerated, Sonia wasn’t kept in New Hampshire.
As part of the Interstate Corrections Compact (ICC), Sonia was sent to Washington to serve a portion of his sentence in 2016, one year after beginning to identify as transgender. The ICC allows states to share correctional resources, and move inmates to cross-border facilities which may be better suited to their needs. Sonia was moved between multiple male facilities in Washington, and left a trail of complaints and lawsuits with regards to not being given adequate access to “gender affirming care,” such as women’s underwear and laser hair removal.
In 2020, Sonia was offered a settlement in one of those cases promising him “gender affirming care” in a “reasonable timeframe.” After finally being moved into the women’s estate in 2022, Sonia was evaluated for multiple procedures, including breast implants, a vaginoplasty, and laser hair removal.
In 2023, Sonia launched another lawsuit, claiming he wasn’t being provided “gender affirming care” in a timely fashion in accordance with his 2020 settlement. Sonia claimed this was “cruel and unusual punishment” and violated his human rights.

A transgender inmate currently housed in a women's prison in Washington is suing after not being given breast implants in a timely fashion.
Brett David Sonia, also known as Brooke Lyn, was convicted of raping a young girl.
But the Department of Corrections contested Sonia’s claims, and a rebuttal was filed showing that Sonia had received a substantial amount of “gender affirming care” on the taxpayer dime.
According to the records, Sonia underwent a “zero depth” vaginoplasty in May of 2023. This procedure involves rearranging the tissues of the penis and scrotum to create the superficial appearance of a vulva without creating an internal canal.
The Washington Department of Corrections also stated that they purchased Sonia a personal Intense Pulse Light hair removal device, which he was allowed to use in the WCCW medical facility. Following his vaginoplasty, Sonia was also referred for facial hair removal via electrolysis at a local clinic, and has been transported to regular appointments by prison staff.
In August of 2024, a court dismissed Sonia’s claims that a violation of his Eighth Amendment rights had occurred, citing the extensive efforts the Department of Corrections had made to accommodate Sonia’s needs for “gender affirming care.” The judgement was finalized and entered in December.
In 2023, a source with a family member incarcerated at the Washington Correctional Center for Women (WCCW) came forward to speak with Reduxx and pass on information from female inmates who claimed that Sonia frequently “changes” his gender identity, and has reportedly told some of the female inmates that he still identifies as a man.
Like Sonia, Lotusflower was also provided taxpayer-funded “gender affirming treatment” after being housed at the Washington Correctional Center for Women (WCCW) in the form of breast implants.
In May of 2023, Reduxx learned from an internal source that Lotusflower had reportedly been “gifted” a Victoria’s Secret bra by the facility despite the brand not being an approved retailer allowed into WCCW.

The contrast between the new and the old could hardly have been starker.
At his Washington D.C. inauguration, new U.S. President Donald Trump galvanised his supporters by banging the drum for all of the populist policies that won him the election in November: protecting America’s borders and stopping mass illegal immigration; trashing Net Zero madness and the ‘green deal’; resisting trans activism and woke ideology; ending the political weaponisation of the law; defending free speech vs. cancel culture.
Meanwhile, across the Atlantic in the exclusive Swiss ski resort of Davos, far away from any garbage voters or deplorable citizens, leading supporters of everything that Trump spoke against huddled together for warmth at their annual elite carnival, the World Economic Forum (WEF).
Members of the old European political establishment gathered with the megarich and powerful at the WEF, seeking to reassure each other that their cosy, closed world order really isn’t coming to an end, included European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and outgoing German chancellor Olaf Scholz of the Social Democrats, alongside his likely replacement, Christian Democrat leader Friedrich Merz. All chinking glasses with the likes of UK Labour chancellor Rachel Reeves.
President Trump might have had to take cover inside the Washington Capitol Rotunda for his inauguration ceremony to escape sub-zero temperatures on the streets of DC. But in a changing world, it was the globalist elitists in snowy Davos who really seemed out in the political cold.
As I wrote on europeanconservative.com in November, Trump’s defeat of Democrat Washington insider Kamala Harris “marks a new high point in the democratic revolt against Western elites.” His remarkable return to the White House was made possible by the same populist upsurge that has swept across Europe, bringing national conservatives to power from Italy and the Netherlands to Hungary and Austria, and shaking the centre of the European Union.
The Brussels oligarchy and its media supporters have reacted by calling Trump a fascist, branding anybody who questions them ‘far-right,’ and now blaming Trumpist convert Elon Musk for allegedly corrupting European democracy by spreading ‘disinformation’ and ‘hate speech’ on X/Twitter.
Hours after President Trump’s inauguration, attended by Musk and other Big Tech titans such as Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, many left, green, and centrist Members of the European Parliament were queuing up at their plenary session in Strasbourg to denounce Musk and Meta for interfering in European elections, and to demand more online censorship.
Meanwhile, Spain’s embattled Socialist prime minister Pedro Sanchez, saying out loud what other European leaders were thinking, called on the EU to defend democracy against Musk and Trump. (Although, as with the Harry Potter villain, evil Lord Voldemort, he did not mention the new president’s name.)
Speaking for the powerful European Commission, Henna Virkkunen reassured those MEPs that Brussels will enforce even more stringent rules online, to protect Europeans from nasty words by policing speech and removing “disinformation” around the clock.
Let us be clear what is happening here. In the EU and beyond, the globalist establishment does not want or need to defend democracy against the ‘far right’ or what Sanchez called the “technocaste.” It wants to defend its own power and systems against the demos—the people—who have dared to re-elect rebel presidents and prime ministers and to express uncontrolled opinions on social media.
They do not just fear Trump and Musk. They fear people like you and me.
Trump did not create populism, and Musk has not invented freedom of speech. There is a global mass movement of normal people who have had enough of being treated with contempt, and are demanding that their voices should be heard and their interests represented.
The volatile president and his fickly eccentric online champion have certainly played an important role. Trump has proved a catalyst for that populist revolt in the U.S., and Musk has helped to provide an opening that ensures the concerns of many people in the U.S., Europe, and beyond can no longer be ignored.
But, as ever with left-liberal attacks on ‘disinformation,’ it is an insult to the electorate to suggest that they are being manipulated by Big Tech or by big-headed demagogues.
When millions of Germans turn out to vote for the anti-migration party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) next month, for instance, it will not be because Musk told them to. It will be because of the crisis in German society created by the open-door policies of the political establishment.
Musk is certainly no Nazi, however he might wave his arms around at a rally. Nor is he an unambiguous hero of democracy, with his demands that King Charles should suspend the elected UK parliament in order to get rid of Keir Starmer’s failing Labour government.
A leader such as Trump, and a figure such as Musk, are both the products and the facilitators of the populist revolt. We shall see how firmly they stick to their avowed principles in practice; President Trump did not make the best start in helping to impose the disastrous ceasefire deal on Israel, potentially letting Hamas off the hook, although he has pledged to back an Israeli offensive if the Islamists break the deal.
But whatever becomes of a Trump or a Musk or any other individual in the end, we can be sure that the mass populist revolt against the old Davos elites is not going away. The millions who have stood up and said that enough is enough are not going to be somehow turned back into obedient children.
For now, let us celebrate the populist win with those who have been partying in Washington, and ignore the miserabilism of those whose champagne has gone flat in their Davos chateaus. The future is up for grabs. But it surely does not belong to them, however hard they try to stop us saying so.
