Outrage over broadcast shows France’s abortion lobby will not tolerate the smallest challenge

“In 2022, 234,300 abortions were registered in France. According to the Worldometer Institute, abortion is also the leading cause of death in the world: 73 million in 2022, i.e. 52 percent of all deaths.”

These words, spoken by Catholic journalist Aymeric Pourbaix on February 25 on his televised program En quête d’esprit (“The quest for the spirit”) on the CNews TV channel, were punished on November 13 when ARCOM, the independent public regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communications, ordered the private channel to pay a 100,000 euro fine (roughly $105,000 US ) for having broadcast “manifestly inaccurate” information, as LifeSiteNews has reported.

Remarkably, ARCOM did not take into account the fact that the political debate over the enshrinement of abortion rights in the French constitution was in full swing when Pourbaix of CNews presented Worldometer’s statistics.

The heavy fine is symptomatic of the abortion “taboo” that prevents any kind of meaningful debate over abortion in France and that led to declaring access to “voluntary interruption of pregnancy” a constitutional right earlier this year.

The fine illustrates the injustice of French laws that refuse to recognize the unborn as human beings. Mere days before, humorist and comedian Pierre Palmade had been given a five-year prison sentence for having seriously injured three members of a family in February of last year while driving under the influence of cocaine. Despite the survivors’ efforts, he was not indicted for having caused the death of the unborn child of the then 6-months-pregnant victim, because “fetuses” do not have a juridical status as persons in French law.

Interestingly, public opinion was horrified that Palmade could not be sentenced for the death of a viable unborn baby.

CNews was fined for having committed the unthinkable by equating the induced death of an unborn child in his or her mother’s womb to the death of any other human being. ARCOM’s decision stated that the station had broadcast a “manifest inaccuracy” which “was not contradicted by any of the other people present on set” when it presented abortion as “the leading cause of death in the world” ahead of cancer and tobacco.

“Part of the sequence in question equates abortion with a cause of death and, as a consequence, it equates an embryo or fetus that could not be born alive because of an abortion with a deceased person, even though in law they are not considered persons. Abortion cannot therefore be presented as a cause of mortality. (…) This source [Worldometer] merely states that, according to the World Health Organization, 73 million abortions are induced worldwide every year,” reads ARCOM’s decision. It states also that the channel violated its “obligation of honesty and rigor in its presentation and treatment of information.”

In condemning it, ARCOM endorsed the uproar that hailed CNews’ breaking of the abortion taboo, about which more later. First the ruling’s inconsistencies and deception deserve to be brought to light.

If “an embryo or fetus (…) could not be born alive,” this can only be because he or she died before he or she was born, and he or she could not have died if her or she had not previously been alive.

In a country like China, which made extensive use of abortion, particularly forced abortion, as part of its one-child policy from 1971 to 2016 (and now employing a three-child policy), the Communist government itself officially estimates that 400 million births have been “avoided.” Officially, between 1971 and 2011, 336 million abortions were performed by Chinese doctors. How can you fail to correlate these two statistics? Hundreds of millions of human beings in gestation were not born because they had ceased to live – which means they had died.

As mentioned above, French case law does not recognize that unborn children have personal rights. At the same time, however, the French Civil Code provides that “all those born or conceived at the time of the opening of a succession are capable of inheriting” (unless the child is stillborn… and therefore indeed “dead” before birth).

Because abortion is legal in France – one might even say that it is aggressively so – legislators and judges will contort themselves in order to explain away the fact that an unborn child has full rights as an heir while growing in its mother’s womb while at the same time not having juridical status as a person with legal capacity.

Other countries, on the other hand, grant strong protection or a form of recognition to the unborn child because of its identity as a human being in its own right: this was previously the case in Ireland, where the conceived child’s “right to be born” was recognized. It is still the case in Australia when a woman loses her unborn child in a road accident, for example. Many American states now protect the life of the unborn child and prohibit abortion almost entirely in the name of the conceived child’s status as a human being. In these countries and states, abortion is considered as a cause of death. And, therefore, when talking about global mortality, from a global point of view, it should be at least possible to discuss the issue.

As for the figures presented by “Worldometer,” it is no coincidence that they are included in the section of the site that details health data. This presents 11 causes of death (infectious disease, influenza, maternal and infant mortality, AIDS, cancer, malaria, smoking, alcoholism, suicide, road accidents), to which are only added statistics on HIV infections, the number of cigarettes smoked per day and spending on drugs. There is nothing else, apart from the abortion count. What else can the section be than a mortality chart, since it exclusively presents causes of death and behavior that makes death more probable?

Clearly, ARCOM has taken it onto itself the responsibility to protect an official “truth:” “Abortion does not kill a human being.” It is a diktat or compulsory thought that no argument, no statistic, and no analysis can or may contradict – at least not on a TV channel that is officially licensed to transmit its shows on the national digital television network TNT.

When CNews broke the taboo last February, multiple media outlets struck out at the TV channel. It was presented as being “in the bosom of ultra-conservative billionaire Vincent Bolloré,” a successful Catholic businessman who has taken control of a number of print and broadcast media in France.

In the French mainstream media, billionaires are only acceptable when they are pro-abortion, pro-contraception, and pro-“reproductive rights.” The legacy media will never disparage Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Mike Bloomberg, Ted Turner and other super-rich promoters of population control, whose effectiveness is in direct proportion to their fabulous wealth.

Sadly, several of CNews’ star anchors immediately presented their “apologies” for the infographic Aymeric Pourbaix presented. Laurence Ferrari, a mainstream media journalist, was the first to mention on X that it was “error that should not have occurred.”

“It is absolutely impossible to compare these figures [on abortion] and to mirror them with mortality numbers linked to cancer or smoking,” Ferrari declared the day after her colleague Aymeric Pourbaix’s show. She asserted that “calling into question” the “right” to abortion was unthinkable. She also expressed her support for those “around the world (…) who are fighting to obtain the right to control their own bodies, and for those who have lost their lives because they were unable to access abortion.”

Another star presenter, Sonia Mabrouk, who publicly upholds France’s “Christian spiritual roots” and who authored a book titled Reconquering the Sacred: the Survival of the West depends on the Sacred, was also quick to distance herself from her colleague’s “controversial” remarks. Supposedly right-wing and Christian anchor Christine Kelly also presented apologies.

Citing a “technical error” in an attempt to exonerate the channel, Gérald-Brice Viret, CEO of Canal+, the parent company of CNews, said that the sequence “had precisely been removed during final editing and should therefore never have been broadcast.”

Vincent Bolloré did not comment on the incident.

Four representatives of his media outlet, including Ferrari and Mabrouk, were heard in a scheduled audition by the French National Assembly’s investigative committee regarding the renewal of CNews digital television network approval, four days after the incident. The audition took place on February 29 and gave rise to questions about the abortion statistics on the part of the legislators. The CNews panel groveled, using words such as “vile,” “unpardonable,” “unacceptable,” “traumatic,” “unspeakable,” “dramatic and catastrophic,” “a disgrace for us all.”

None of this softened ARCOM’s approach.

CNews also failed to stand up for itself, especially when it came to the accusation that Worldometer’s statistics had been used improperly.

ARCOM’s November 13 ruling made clear that, it its view, “the publisher’s allegations that an error led to the broadcast of the wrong version of the sequence have no bearing on the characterization of the breach.”

Many public figures, including the president of the extreme left “La France insoumise” party, Mathilde Panot, had beseiged the regulatory body with complaints. “As a reminder, the offense of obstructing abortion is punishable by law in France,” Panot said, accusing CNews of moving “ever further towards the despicable.”

The deputy health minister at the time, Frédéric Valletoux, called Pourbaix’s comments “outrageous.” “More than ever, Emmanuel Macron’s commitment to enshrine abortion in the Constitution is an essential step forward,” Valletoux stated.

In view of all this, it is hard to believe that, despite the growing audience for En quête d’esprit, the numbers it cited and the mention of abortion as a cause of mortality could have had the slightest impact on the goals of the French abortion lobby. But the latter will not tolerate even the slightest challenge. Like a steam roller or an armored tank, it crushes all opposition, however puny. The media have been warned: if they go against the officialized culture of death, there will be hell to pay.

France: Teachers at a high school go on strike because the school authorities are not taking action against Islamist radicalised pupils

After they stopped doing their jobs on Tuesday November 26 following the imposition of sanctions by two disciplinary committees that they considered ‘insufficient in view of the extremely serious facts’, the teachers of the Branly high school in Dreux gathered for a school assembly on Wednesday November 27. (…)

‘Our hour-long walkout is in response to the decisions of the last two disciplinary committees to rule on two cases involving the glorification of terrorism. The first concerned a student who turned up on September 11 wearing a football shirt flocked with the message ‘Neb Nedal’, which potentially means Bin Laden read backwards, and which was above the number 11, echoing the attacks of 9/11. The second disciplinary panel concerned a high school student who, during a French lesson on freedom of expression in which Samuel Paty and Dominique Bernard were honoured, apparently justified their murder, describing it as an ‘act of charity’.

The two disciplinary councillors expelled both pupils from school, but suspended them on probation. They remain at school, ‘but have changed classes’, as the teachers explained. They are of the opinion that ‘the punishment does not correspond to the seriousness of the offences. The suspension is not understood by the school community, as nothing has really changed regarding the two pupils. Although they have changed classes, they remain in contact with the teachers and pupils.’ High school students who were interviewed yesterday stated ‘that they distance themselves from such behaviour. We are Muslims, but we do not justify these heinous acts in any way’.

‘Since the opening of the Lycée de Hanches, the educational circumstances have changed and Branly has become a neighbourhood high school. There is no longer an ethnic mix,’ adds a teacher.

(…) The demonstrators hope that they will be ‘heard and supported’ and that ‘the problems will not be swept under the carpet’. One teacher says: ‘Teaching certain subjects such as philosophy or even maths is becoming more and more complicated. You always have to justify yourself and be very careful what you say’. Vienna police ban mass protest supporting excluded Freedom Party’s ‘People’s Chancellor’ Herbert Kickl

A massive protest planned for Saturday in Vienna to support Freedom Party (FPÖ) leader Herbert Kickl, who was excluded from ongoing government negotiations despite winning the most votes in the recent election, has been banned by the police.

Heute reported that the rally was expected to draw 1.4 million participants and was organized by the group Fair Thinking, which gained notoriety among the Austrian establishment for its demonstrations during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The protest, promoted as a show of support for “People’s Chancellor Kickl,” sought to challenge the so-called “sugar coalition” of parties negotiating to form the government. The FPÖ and Kickl, despite their electoral success, were left out of talks, fueling outrage among his supporters.

Kickl, who previously appeared at Fair Thinking’s protests, has become a popular figure among many Austrians, representing opposition to Covid policies, insisting on neutrality in the Ukraine conflict, and expressing dissatisfaction with Austria’s political elite over its commitment to mass immigration.

The initial protest date of Nov. 9, which coincided with the anniversary of the 1938 Nazi pogroms, drew condemnation from political leaders, including Chancellor Karl Nehammer, who called the timing a “slap in the face to victims’ relatives.”

President Alexander Van der Bellen also expressed strong disapproval, leading to organizers postponing the event to Nov. 30.

On Thursday, however, Vienna police announced the prohibition of the protests under Section 6 Paragraph 1 of Austria’s Assembly Act. The justification cited potential disruptions to businesses in Vienna’s shopping districts and the flow of traffic.

A statement from the police warned: “Holding an unannounced or prohibited meeting constitutes an administrative violation. Such meetings can be dissolved, and participants must disperse immediately.”

Organizers have not backed down, hinting at plans to proceed informally or under different guises. A statement on their Telegram channel invited supporters to “take a walk” in Vienna during Advent and visit Christmas markets, particularly the one at Marien-Theresien-Platz.

Critics have argued that prioritizing undisturbed shopping and traffic flow over freedom of assembly sets a dangerous precedent amid fear this rationale could be used to justify arbitrary bans on protests, limiting democratic expression.

The ban has further inflamed tensions in Austria’s political landscape, highlighting deep divisions over Kickl’s exclusion from government negotiations.

Kickl’s FPÖ has gained support since topping the September federal elections but being sidelined by other parties in coalition talks, winning Sunday’s state election in Styria with 35.6 percent of the vote.

The legacy Social Democrats (SPÖ) and Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) saw their vote shares drop in what is considered to be punishment for its anti-democratic cordon sanitaire imposed around the FPO.

Gigantic smuggling organisation dismantled in France. Hundreds of millions of euros laundered via letterbox companies, gold trading and the ‘Hawala’, a payment system promoted by the Qur’an

How Hawala works (see text): 1 – A hands over money (red) to X and tells him the code (blue); 2a/2b: code is communicated independently to B and M; 3a: B tells M the code word, 3b: whereupon M knows that B is the rightful recipient and hands him the money.

A French-led investigation, supported by Europol, has resulted in the dismantling of a large criminal network comprising several small criminal groups involved in migrant smuggling and money laundering. The extensive migrant smuggling and financial investigation of the French National Police (Police aux frontiers/OLTIM Roissy Charles de Gaulle) was supported nationally by the French Inter-ministerial Investigation Unit (GIR Bobigny), and Luxembourg, Portugal, the United Kingdom, among several other EU and non-EU countries.

The investigation focused on several interlinked criminal groups that were smuggling migrants from the Indian sub-continent (India, Sri Lanka and Nepal) to Europe, the United Kingdom and North America. The smugglers facilitated migrants’ travel to the EU via Dubai or different African countries using unlawfully obtained tourist, work or medical visas. Migrants would be charged between EUR 15 000 and EUR 26 000 per person for the full smuggling service.

The network is believed to have smuggled several thousand people to France since 2022, providing them with flight tickets, fake documents and other resources to facilitate their illegal travel. It is estimated that the groups generated several hundred million euros in illegal profits altogether. In 2024, French authorities arrested 26 suspects in total.

Overall results:

  • 26 arrests
  • Seizures including:
    • real estate (9 houses and 4 shops) with a total value of EUR 3 432 000
    • 35 bank accounts holding over EUR 440 000
    • EUR 121 000 in cryptocurrencies
    • 23 luxurious vehicles worth about EUR 752 000
    • gold and jewellery valued at over EUR 5 million
    • 1 700 in restaurant vouchers
    • machines for the production of jewellery estimated at EUR 500 000
    • EUR 350 000 in cash
    • EUR 400 000 of building material

Following the money

Law enforcement and judicial authorities focused heavily on the financial aspects of this case. They uncovered that the smuggling network laundered their criminal assets in multiple ways: through shell companies, hawala, and the trafficking of gold. The network also used restaurant tickets, a system of lunch bonuses for employees widely adopted in France, for money laundering. The first action day on 12 March 2024 led to the arrest of 13 suspected smugglers and 6 financial brokers. The latter were part of a hawala network suspected to have transferred annually over EUR 50 million in criminal assets for the migrant smuggling network.

During the second action day on 25 June 2024, the French law enforcement authorities targeted two illegal gold brokers turning over EUR 5 million per year. Following these actions, a Tamil priest, who was part of the network, took over the activities of the arrested hawala brokers and used the temple for the recovery of money from migrant smuggling. He was arrested on 12 November 2024, charged, and subsequently remanded in custody.

Later that month, 4 other individuals were detained for laundering over EUR 200 million through the use of public works companies. Using a legitimate company as a front, the network used its ‘cleaned’ assets to expand its activities, while also employing irregular migrants and paying them significantly less than the regular salaries for the sector.

The ‘hawala’ is a payment system promoted by the Qur’an, which is switched from banks to individual ‘operators’ who are often located in small shops that are beyond the control of the financial authorities. In this way, the smugglers allow the money to circulate in secret.

Drugs mafia forces Belgian investigative judge into hiding

In the Saint Gilles Prison in Brussels, drug criminals can just phone around to threaten judges. Wikimedia Commons , Moyogo, CC-BY-SA-3.0

An investigative judge from Antwerp has been living in a safe house for several weeks after receiving threats from drugs mafia members.

A 27-year-old convicted drugs criminal, who is currently in a Belgian jail, allegedly relayed threats against the judge via mobile phone from his cell after having previously sworn revenge against him after he was sentenced by the magistrate to more time in jail.

Belgian media reported on November 28 that the police have already made half a dozen house searches and combed the 27-year-old’s cell.

Only a limited amount of information about the case was disclosed by the Antwerp Public Prosecutor’s Office due, it said, to potential security risks.

“As long as the special security measures concerning the investigating judge remain in place, we will not comment on the substance of the case,” Kristof Aerts, spokesman for the prosecutor’s office, told local newspaper Gazet van Antwerpen.

The drugs criminal accused of threatening the judge was sentenced to a further six years in prison by him in October 2023 for orchestrating an attack on a house near Antwerp while already in jail.

The house belonged to the parents of another known drug criminal. During the attack, two Molotov cocktails were thrown at the building. The incident was reportedly an act of retaliation for a previous attack on the 27-year-old’s own parents’ home in the same city.

He was subsequently transferred to a different cell. He had originally been in Saint-Gilles prison after his conviction but he had repeatedly managed to get hold of mobile phones to continue his criminal activities.

Despite being moved, he was able to have another mobile phone smuggled into his new cell in Hasselt as well. As a result, one prison guard was arrested and interrogated for alleged involvement in the criminal getting the phone.

Now, the 27-year-old is in a prison in Bruges under a special security regime so that he cannot have any contact with the outside world.

Of the judge in hiding, the president of the court wrote to staff recently saying: “We all sympathise with the colleague in question, who is fortunately doing well and being well looked after.

“We can assure you that at the moment there is no reason to fear that our court or staff will be targeted. There is no heightened security risk.”

The Association of Examining Magistrates struck a different tone. “We feel unsafe at our job”, president of the association Philippe Van Linthout told news outlet VRT NWS on November 28.

“The increasing crudeness of organised crime is the talking point in the corridors,” he said.

“Colleagues feel unsafe in their own offices. They see their names popping up in drug files because in the mobiles of criminals, we find the number plates of investigating judges and other private data.”

Van Linthout claimed that the buildings they worked in were “a disaster”.

“They are old and not well secured. Moreover, the prisons are overcrowded so we cannot lock up people who belong there. They are also riddled with security flaws, evident from the widespread circulation of mobile phones. From their cells, inmates can remain criminally active and thus threaten us, too.

“When suspects appear before us, they say things like, ‘That tie, you wear that one often, don’t you?’ Or they refer to hobbies. All of it is meant to show how much they know,” Van Linthout said.

It is suspected that the increasing sense of insecurity has come about as a consequence of successful investigations into organised crime.

Belgian investigators were able to arrest numerous top figures in the international drug trade as a result of cracking the encrypted messaging system often used by the underworld, called Sky ECC, in March 2021, after which the network shut down.

‘Islamophobia’: The Death Knell for Free Speech?

The defining question of our time is surely whether Islam will adapt to Western values—or whether our cowardly leaders will force Western values to adapt to the 7th century barbarism they seem determined to import. Mohammedanism may have been spread by the sword, but as Liberals never tire of reminding us—the pen is supposedly mightier. That may be so, but as the great Mark Steyn once put it, “the pen is only mightier than the sword, if you’re allowed to use the pen!” Alas, we live in a world where increasingly few are prepared to unsheathe the ultimate weapon.

Instead of fostering dialogue, investigation, and critique, Western civilisation stands illiterate; poised on a knife-edge (or perhaps that should be scimitar?) thanks to the juxtaposition of two evils: the desire of Western leaders to downplay the more violent aspects of Islam, and the insistence of Islamic extremists to ensure their work is kept in the public domain.

The tragic case of Samuel Paty perfectly illustrates this tension. Paty was beheaded by a jihadist, Abdoullakh Anzorov, in France back in 2020 for the ‘blasphemy’ of showing images of the Prophet Muhammad in a lesson on freedom of speech. What makes the case of Paty more egregious still, is the fact that the teacher was rumoured to have excluded a Muslim student from the class (a lie stemming from the student’s suspension and fear of her parents’ reaction). The full story was covered by Hélène de Lauzun with her customary precision on Wednesday. This is set against the backdrop of France, which prides itself on the robust right to blaspheme, as President Macron had argued only months previously: “The law is clear: We have the right to blasphemy, to criticise, to caricature religions.”

The disconnect between the idealised version of Islam and its real-life manifestations is not lost on Western leaders, who maintain that the problem is not Islam itself, but simply its adherents who do not understand it. Particularly chilling in this regard are the words of the matriarch of European destruction, Angela ‘Mutti’ Merkel, who stated back in 2017: “It is not Islam that is the source of terrorism, but a falsely understood Islam.” Despite efforts to promote a sanitised version of Islam, many followers evidently prefer the traditional brand.

The solution it seems is straightforward—simply ban discussion of Islam full stop, through the term ‘Islamophobia’; a concept popularised in Britain back in 1997 by Runnymede Trust chairman, Trevor Phillips. Two decades later, and the All-Party Parliamentary Group on British Muslims (APPG) proposed a broad definition:

Islamophobia is rooted in racism and is a type of racism that targets expressions of Muslimness or perceived Muslimness.

A definition this vague can only be intentional. Thankfully, the authors of the report do give us some examples of what Islamophobia might look like:

  • The myth of Muslim identity having a unique propensity for terrorism, and claims of a demographic ‘threat’ posed by Muslims or of a ‘Muslim takeover’.
  • Accusing Muslims as a group, or Muslim majority states, of inventing or exaggerating Islamophobia, ethnic cleansing or genocide perpetrated against Muslims.
  • Accusing Muslim citizens of being more loyal to the ‘Ummah’ (transnational Muslim community) or to their countries of origin, or to the alleged priorities of Muslims worldwide, than to the interests of their own nations.
  • Using the symbols and images associated with classic Islamophobia (e.g. Muhammed being a paedophile, claims of Muslims spreading Islam by the sword or subjugating “Islamophobia is rooted in racism and is a type of racism that targets expressions of Muslimness or perceived Muslimness.” minority groups under their rule) to characterize Muslims as being ‘sex groomers’, inherently violent or incapable of living harmoniously in plural societies.

What this means, at least in theory, is that it would potentially be illegal to criticise ISIS or Hamas, notice the overrepresentation of Muslims in certain fields, suggest that 9-years-old is a little young for a bride, or indeed even question the notion of Islamophobia itself. Besides which, a phobia is an ‘irrational fear’—and there is nothing remotely irrational about the fear of being gang-raped, acid-attacked, thrown off a building, blown up, or merely decapitated in the name of multiculturalism.

To illustrate the ridiculousness of the term, a 2016 freedom of information request found that over 25% of ‘Islamophobic hate crimes’ recorded by the Met Police are committed against non-Muslims or people of unknown faith. In other words, thanks to the ill-defined terms, it is quite feasible that not only could one be Islamophobic towards non-Muslims, but that Muslims themselves could be ‘guilty’ of the offence!

While never openly stated as a means to stifle debate, the effect of the term Islamophobia has been just that. Most tellingly and ironically, is the case of Phillips himself—who, having popularised the term, was then suspended by the Labour Party for the very same offence, after he came to realise that perhaps the religion was a little less peaceful than he’d first thought.

It is the Labour Party however, who we must now watch very closely. Having adopted the APPG’s definition of Islamophobia in its own code of conduct back in 2019, Keir Starmer repeatedly promised to formalise the definition if elected prime minister. Despite obvious concerns that this would be a blasphemy law in all but name, Starmer has shown no sign of a rethink.

Asked earlier this week at PMQS by Labour MP Tahir Ali whether he would commit to “prohibiting the desecration of all religious texts and the prophets of the Abrahamic religions,” Starmer replied:

Desecration is awful and I think it should be condemned. We are committed to tackling all forms of hatred and division including, of course, Islamophobia in all of its forms.

While I have every confidence that Starmer is ideologically-wedded to the criminalisation of Islamophobia, there are much more concrete reasons to believe he will push this through. After just four months in office, Starmer has shown himself to prioritise Muslims at every opportunity: including his petulant, two-tier response to the Southport riots, his promise to the Muslim community that “I am with you,” and the obvious need for Labour to shore up its haemorrhaging Muslim vote.

If such a definition or law ever gets through Parliament, the implications for free speech would be disastrous. It’s also safe to say that teachers would be left navigating classrooms with the caution of a bomb disposal expert.

The proposed definition of Islamophobia does not combat hatred; it invites it. Instead of facilitating debate and reform, it provides extremists with a legal framework to silence critics. It’s not about tackling Islamophobia; it’s about preventing Islam from being critiqued at all.

The great irony of Samuel Paty’s tragic demise is that the claim of his ‘Islamophobia’ was unfounded—but what difference does that make? If the interpretation of Islamophobia is open-ended (which it is), and if there is no paucity of those looking to enforce it (which there is), then all such legislation will mean is the legalisation of full Sharia, blasphemy laws, and in effect a death sentence on the likes of Paty, Rushdie, Charlie Hebdo, and any others ‘foolish’ enough to test them.

It might be time to stop worrying about those holding the pen, and start worrying about the guy holding the sword.

BBC journalists resign from union over Palestinian colors directive

Wikimedia Commons , Zizzu02, CC-BY-SA-3.0, Image detail

The National Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Britain confirmed on Wednesday that BBC journalists have quit the union after receiving directives from the Trades Union Congress (TUC) encouraging workers to dress in Palestinian Arab colors or wear a keffiyeh for a “Day of Action for Palestine”, the UK-based Jewish News reported.

The TUC’s call aims to advocate for a permanent ceasefire, an end to the violence in Gaza, and secure the release of all hostages. However, the recommendation to wear Palestinian Arab dress at the event, scheduled for Thursday, has prompted some NUJ members at the BBC to feel that the union has overstepped its boundaries.

A BBC staffer expressed significant concern, telling The Times, “BBC journalists, who pride themselves on impartiality and who fought to keep their NUJ free of politics, are being encouraged to break the BBC’s editorial guidelines by supporting a political cause”. The staff member further described the action as “hypocritical and antisemitic” and is reconsidering their NUJ membership.

Jewish employees at the BBC have reportedly alerted Nigel Lewis, the broadcaster’s HR director, who has raised the issue with HR leads across the BBC, according to the Jewish News. BBC Security has also been made aware of potential conflict situations that could arise from wearing Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) flag colors or headscarves.

The NUJ has since issued a message to its members acknowledging that those working in public service broadcasting have critical impartiality responsibilities and should not breach social media guidelines.

The union appears taken aback by the strong response, with Jewish chat groups speculating that potentially a dozen more members might resign.

When questioned, the TUC could not confirm whether it had previously requested workers to wear national colors during other conflicts. The organization explicitly stated it had never asked members to wear Ukrainian-colored clothing during the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The Board of Deputies issued a statement criticizing the guidelines and accusing trade unions of “playing student politics on a conflict on whose facts they appear to be plainly ignorant”, rather than focusing on workers’ protection.

“Whatever the stated intent, attempts to bring this issue into the workplace in such a fashion will undoubtedly add to the belligerent atmosphere which many Jewish staff have been facing,” it added.

The BBC has repeatedly been criticized for the blatant anti-Israel bias in its reporting and this criticism has increased since Hamas’ October 7, 2023 attack on Israel and the war in Gaza which followed.

In November of 2023, the corporation published an apology after falsely claiming that IDF troops were targeting medical teams in battles in and around the Shifa Hospital in Gaza.

Before that, the BBC falsely accused Israel of being responsible for an explosion at a hospital in Gaza, which the IDF proved was caused by an Islamic Jihad rocket.

The network later acknowledged that “it was false to speculate” on the explosion.

In wake of the criticism, BBC Chair Samir Shah said last December that he intends to review the corporation’s reporting guidelines on the Israel–Hamas war.

In August, more than 200 people from Britain’s TV and film industry called for an urgent investigation into allegations of antisemitism at the BBC.

A month later, a report found that the BBC violated its own editorial guidelines more than 1,500 times during the first four months of the war between Israel and Hamas, and noted “deeply worrying pattern of bias” against the Jewish state during that period.

Western Europe’s Muslim Problem

Radical Muslim gangs who harbor hatred for Western culture and believe that Islam is the answer for all bear a visceral and violent antisemitic hatred for Israel and Jews.  The pogrom perpetrated by Arab and Turkish Muslims earlier this month on Israeli and Jewish fans of Maccabi Tel Aviv, a leading Israeli soccer team, in the streets of Amsterdam illustrates the point.  The local (Amsterdam) authorities feigned efforts to contain the Muslim horde, which did not prevent the beating of scores of Israelis and Jews and the hospitalization of six.  For many, it conjured up images of the evil perpetrated by the SS of Nazi Germany and the Kristallnacht pogrom of 1938.  Attacks on Jews and Israel are now widely evident in other major western European cities, including Berlin, Brussels, London, Madrid, and Paris.

Referring to the recent pogrom, there were kind words from the king of the Netherlands, Willem-Alexander, who told Israel’s President Isaac Herzog, “We failed the Jewish community of the Netherlands during World War II, and last night we failed again.”  Geert Wilders, leader of the largest party in the Dutch parliament, blamed Moroccan Muslims for the attack on the Israeli Maccabi Tel Aviv fans.  He noted that the Muslims do not hide the fact that they want to destroy Jews and recommended the deportation of those people convicted of involvement in the pogrom if they have dual nationality.

Muslim migrants arrived at the industrialized Western European states after WWII, many from the countries that were their former colonial possessions.  Thus, Algerian, Moroccan, and Tunisian Muslims landed in France and in Belgium (since French was also widely spoken there).  Turkish Muslim temporary laborers were brought to Germany and never left.  The Netherlands became home to Indonesian Muslims.  South Asian Pakistani and Bangladeshi Muslims settled in Britain.  Many of those early Muslim settlers sought a quiet life, economic betterment, and freedom.

The revival of Islamic sense of power, with Saudi Arabia accumulating unimaginable oil riches and power in the 1970s, created an initial stirring, followed by the 1979 Islamic (Shiite) revolution in Iran and the defiance against the Western world and its culture.  The mayhem in Iraq and the endless terror in the aftermath of the Bush Jr. administration’s 2003 war that deposed Saddam Hussein eliminated the secular Sunni-Muslim rule in Iraq and led to Shia Muslim supremacy and Iran’s stranglehold on Iraq.

Then came the civil war in Syria a decade later, which created millions of refugees.  The guilt-ridden European and former colonial powers opened their doors to hordes of Muslims from Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan.  Angela Merkel’s misplaced guilt about the Holocaust invited over a million Syrian and Iraqi Arabs and Afghan Muslims to Germany.  Most of these had been brought up to hate Jews and Israel.

For the new arrivals in particular, the Western practice of separation of church and state is unfamiliar and unacceptable.  Islam is the state religion in most Arab states and, especially, in Iran.  The majority of recent Muslim immigrants express less attachment to their western European host countries and greater loyalty and attachment to their country of origin.  This situation is exacerbated by the fact that the host countries do not promote assimilation into the culture.  The Muslims have separate communities, separate schools, and separate rules of law.

Europe used to have a “Jewish problem” and still does, but not for the same reasons as their “Muslim problem.”  The Jews integrated well and enriched European culture in multiple ways.  Many European Nobel laureates were Jews.  Today’s Muslim immigrants commit a large percentage of the violent crimes, whereas crime coming out of the Jewish communities was virtually nonexistent.  In most cases, Jews spoke the native tongue better than the Christian natives.  The problem, until the late 18th Century, was religious animus and discrimination, which later transformed into antisemitic racism.  In Europe, Jews became the scapegoats for the ills of their societies.

The late Oriana Fallaci, famed Italian journalist and author, who later in life became a staunch defender of Israel and Jews, famously stated, “I stand with Israel, I stand with the Jews.”  “I defend their right to exist, to defend themselves, and not to allow themselves to be exterminated a second time.”

While earlier in her career Fallaci defended the Palestinians and Muslims, she was subsequently quoted as saying, “The Muslims refuse our culture and try to impose their culture on us.  I reject them, and this is not only my duty toward my culture — it is toward my values, my principles, my civilization.”

Fallaci made no secret of her hatred of the way Islam enforced passivity and submission of women through sharia law.  She famously ended an interview with Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeini by ripping off the chador she had been obliged to wear — yelling about “these medieval rags!”  She wrote of “the monstrous darkness of a religion which produces nothing but religion .. secretly envious of us, confessedly jealous of our way of life. … [I]n Europe the mosques literally swarm with terrorists or candidate terrorists.”

In Europe today, Islamists and the radical left have allied themselves in the Green-Red alliance with a common antisemitic agenda under the guise of anti-Israelism.  Their vocal demonstrations in the streets of Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, London, and Paris have intimidated the governments, who have done little to stem the gushing hate displayed and the violence accompanying such events, as demonstrated earlier this month in Amsterdam.  Whereas peaceful demonstrations are a given in western democracies, incitement to violence is proscribed.

With the Muslim population in Europe swelling into double-digit percentages, and stagnant native European birthrates, it is only a matter of a generation or two before radical Islam truly becomes dominant in Europe.  In her 2005 book titled Eurabia: The EuroArab Axis, Bat Yeor, the pen name for Gisèle Littman, pointed out that Europe has surrendered to Islam and is in a state of submission (described as dhimmitude) in which Europe is forced to deny its own culture, stand silently by in the face of Muslim atrocities, accept Muslim immigration, and pay tribute through various types of economic assistance.

Incoming U.S. president Donald Trump, by acting on his unintimidated commitment to deport illegals and criminal aliens from the U.S., may just show the Europeans how to save their culture.  It is time for the European elites to consider acting aggressively on behalf of their survival.

Germany: Victim of Islamic terrorism in Mannheim and critic of Islam Michael Stürzenberger convicted of incitement to hatred

The critic of Islam Michael Stürzenberger, who was seriously injured with a knife by an Afghan in Mannheim at the end of May, has been convicted of incitement to hatred.

At the end of May, the well-known critic of Islam Michael Stürzenberger was stabbed with a knife and seriously injured by an Afghan in Mannheim’s market square. The attacker injured other people, including a police officer, who eventually succumbed to his injuries. The suspected Afghan, who is also considered an IS sympathiser, was charged with murder, among other things. Stürzenberger has been warning of the dangers of Islamism for years. But now he has been convicted of incitement to hatred.

The judgement is said to have been handed down on Monday at the Hamburg district court and refers to a rally at which he is said to have denigrated Muslims and migrants, as documented by a left-wing blog on X. Stürzenberger had previously been sentenced to prison in the first instance, but the regional court suspended the sentence on probation. Due to a formal error by the court, an appeal was allowed and the case had to be retried. The public prosecutor’s office had pleaded for 120 daily rates of 40 euros each, the court sentenced Stürzenberger to 120 daily rates of 30 euros each, i.e. a fine of 3,600 euros. Both parties accepted the judgement in the courtroom. It is therefore legally binding.

In the responses, some users were outraged by the judgement: ‘Didn’t an Islamist want to kill him – and thus confirm Stürzenberger’s theories?’ asked one user. ‘The man is almost massacred by a Muslim in this country and convicted of incitement to hatred. You can’t make this stuff up,’ writes another. Yet another user explains that Stürzenberger has proven ‘that he is right’. One user even describes Stürzenberger as a ‘hero in the fight against Islamisation’. His educational work in relation to political Islam is ‘unparalleled’. The fact that he is being covered in ‘ludicrous accusations and judgements’ is ‘ an irony of history’.
