The Victory That Saved Western Civilization – Commemorating the anniversary of the battle of Tours

The painting above is French Romantic Charles de Steuben’s “Bataille de Poitiers en octobre 732,” which depicts a mounted Charles Martel facing Abd-al Rahman Al Ghafiki at the Battle of Tours.

We have just passed the anniversary of an epic event that is not widely known in America except among history buffs, but which nonetheless dramatically shaped the future of the Western world, and which may still hold inspiration for us in the West today.

After the death of the Muslim prophet Muhammad in 632, Islam spread like a bloody tide throughout the Arabian peninsula, north to the Caspian Sea and east through Persia and beyond, westward through Egypt and across North Africa all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. From there it crossed the Straits of Gibraltar and consumed virtually all of the Iberian peninsula, or al-Andalus as the Saracens called it. In a mere one hundred years, the warlord Muhammad’s imperialist legacy was an empire larger than Rome’s had ever been.

By 732 that fallen Roman empire had devolved into a patchwork of warring barbarian tribes across what is now continental Europe. When Abd-al-Rahman al-Ghafiki, the governor of al-Andalus, crossed the Pyrenees with the world’s most successful fighting force and began pillaging through the south of what would become France toward Paris, there was no nation, no central power, no professional army capable of stopping them.

No army except one – led by the Frankish duke Charles, the eventual grandfather of Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne. His infantrymen, as historian Victor Davis Hanson puts it in a fascinating chapter of Carnage and Culture, were “hardened veterans of nearly twenty years of constant combat against a variety of Frankish, German, and Islamic enemies.” Hanson writes that the Roman legions had crumbled “because of the dearth of free citizens who were willing to fight for their own freedom and the values of their civilization.” But the seasoned warrior Charles had gathered spirited, free fighters under his command who were willing to defend their Christian society, and he led them to intercept the marauding infidels leaving a ravaged trail toward the ultimate prize, Paris.

On the 10th of October, 732 (some dispute the exact date), the two armies met on a wooded field between Poitiers and Tours (and so the ensuing confrontation is sometimes called the Battle of Poitiers), barely 175 miles from Paris as the crow flies. Abd-al-Rahman arrayed his cavalry against Charles’ solid block of Frankish footsoldiers, which at 30,000 was by some estimates not even half the size of the Arab and Berber army (Hanson speculates that the armies were more evenly matched, but the Franks were unquestionably outnumbered).

The opposing forces sized each other up for a full week before Abd-al-Rahman ordered the charge that October morning. But his cavalry, which normally counted on speed, mobility, and terror to lay waste to undisciplined tribes, could not penetrate the highly disciplined, heavily-armed Frankish phalanx. In his must-read book Sword and Scimitar: Fourteen Centuries of War Between Islam and the West, my friend, historian Raymond Ibrahim, quotes a contemporary chronicler who described that the Franks “stood as motionless as a wall, they were like a belt of ice frozen together, and not to be dissolved, as they slew the Arab with the sword.”

At the end of the day’s carnage, both sides regrouped for the next day’s assault. But at dawn, Charles and his men discovered that the Muslim army had vanished, beginning their retreat toward the Pyrenees, leaving the booty stolen from ransacked churches and abbeys behind, as well as at least 10,000 of their dead – including Abd-al-Rahman himself. Exact figures in historical sources are questionable, but Arab chroniclers, Ibrahim reports, “refer to the engagement as the ‘Pavement of Martyrs,’ suggesting that the earth was littered with Muslim corpses.”

It was not the last Muslim incursion into Europe – Charles racked up subsequent victories against the Saracens for a few years afterward – but it was the beginning of the end, and Islam never again penetrated militarily as far into European territory. The victory at Tours helped solidify Charles’ standing among the Franks as a great leader and defender of Christendom (he was afterward dubbed Martel, or “the Hammer”; the Pope reportedly labeled him “the Hammer of God”). He became ruler over all the Franks, essentially unifying all the fragmented territory of western Europe and paving the way for the rise of his grandson Charlemagne to become “the Father of Europe,” the first great ruler of Christendom.

Some historians today downplay the magnitude of the Muslim threat that Martel countered, claiming that Abd-al-Rahman’s force was only a raiding party with no grander designs on seizing the whole of the European continent. They minimize the significance of the Battle of Tours’ outcome, too; at least one historian even claims that Europe would have been better off if Islam had conquered it.

But Hanson notes that “most of the renowned historians of the 18th and 19th centuries… saw Poitiers as a landmark battle that signaled the high-water mark of Islamic advance into Europe.” Edward Creasey included it among the fifteen most decisive battles of world history. Many believe that if Charles –– had not stopped Abd-al-Rahman at Tours, there would have been nothing to prevent the Islamic tide from sweeping across the continent and making Europe Islamic. Edward Gibbon called Charles “the savior of Christendom” and wrote in The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire in 1776 that if not for Charles’ victory, “perhaps the interpretation of the Koran would now be taught in the schools of Oxford.”

If only Gibbon could see Oxford now. Not only is the interpretation of the Koran taught there, but Islam thrives in Oxford, thanks partly to the patronage of the UK’s current dhimmi king. In his essay “Islam in Oxford,” faux moderate Muslim scholar Muqtedar Khan wrote that “Gibbon would have been surprised to learn the lesson that military defeats do not stop the advance of civilizations and the globalization of Islam is unimpeded by the material and military weaknesses of the Muslim world.”

Apart from his dubious suggestion that Islam has anything to do with the advance of civilization, Khan is right: today the Islamic incursion into Europe is of the demographic, not military, sort. The continent faces an immigration crisis due in no small part to at least one generation of young Muslims, many of whom not only are willfully unassimilated, but who are waging cultural and physical aggression against their hosts, establishing parallel communities – “no-go” zones ruled by sharia and in which infidels are unwelcome, to put it mildly. “Nothing can stop the spread of Islam,” insists Islamic apologist Reza Aslan. “There are those who would try, but it simply will not happen. Absolutely nothing can stop the spread of Islam.”

In 732, Charles Martel begged to differ. What it took was the will, the discipline and training, and a warrior spirit and righteous faith.

France: In three different colleges and with shouts of ‘Allah Akbar’, pupils disrupt the minute’s silence for Samuel Paty and Dominique Bernard, who were murdered by Islamists. In a fourth school, a father opposes the memorial service

On Monday October 14, 2024, the middle and high schools of the Indre-et-Loire department took part in the national commemoration for Samuel Paty and Dominique Bernard, the two teachers murdered by Islamist terrorists. The academic director Christian Mendivé took the stage to bring secularism back to the fore (…).

‘A minute’s silence was held today (Monday) and during the week activities will be organised with the teachers and their students. During the minute’s silence there was a lot of emotion, in the group, as the moment was very solemn. Four incidents were reported to us: In three collèges, it was pupils who disrupted the minute’s silence by shouting ‘Allah Akbar’. In another college, it was a father who asked that the minute’s silence not be held or that his daughter be dismissed.’ (…)

Democrat-Led Washington Silent on SpaceX’s Historic Breakthrough

screen grab X

Elon Musk’s private company SpaceX successfully ‘caught’ a rocket booster after returning it to its launch pad for the first time, a historic breakthrough in its journey toward taking humans to Mars before the end of the decade. But because of the billionaire’s endorsement of the Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, the Democrat-led administration in Washington clearly doesn’t think that congratulations are in order.

SpaceX’s ‘Starship,’ the craft designed to turn humanity into a multi-planetary species, was developed to be a fully reusable launch vehicle, with its launch tower capable of ‘catching’ both of its rocket stages, the ‘Super Heavy’ booster and the spacecraft.

On Sunday, October 13th, the biggest rocket ever built took flight for the fifth time, with the intention of testing a bold maneuver that’s never been tried before: catching its giant, 71-meter-tall booster with the launch tower’s ‘chopsticks.’

The test was an overwhelming success. “A day for the engineering history books,” said Kate Tice, SpaceX manager of Quality Systems Engineering, during live commentary from the company’s California headquarters. “This is absolutely insane! On the first-ever attempt, we have successfully caught the Super Heavy booster back at the launch tower.”

“Are you kidding me?” SpaceX spokesperson Dan Huot added from the launch site. “Even in this day and age, what we just saw—that looked like magic.”

While the breakthrough has been widely celebrated on the internet, it became increasingly obvious that no praise would come from one place in particular—the White House. Despite the achievement being compared to America’s greatest engineering feat, the 1969 moon landing, the Biden/Harris administration chose to keep silent because Musk happens to be on the opposing side, politically.

In recent months, Musk has been an outspoken supporter of former President Donald Trump, calling him the only candidate who can “preserve democracy in America.”

Along with endorsing the presidential campaign, Musk reinstated Trump’s suspended account on X, and even hosted a two-hour long live podcast interview with the Republican nominee that reached a hundred million views in less than 24 hours. Even Brussels took notice, with the bloc’s self-styled “digital enforcer,” former Commissioner Thierry Breton, threatening Musk with legal consequences if he failed to limit Trump’s exposure on the site.

Earlier this month, Musk even attended one of Trump’s campaign rallies as a speaker, arguing against the Democratic party over its attacks on free speech and other basic liberties guaranteed by the American Constitution.

Social media users were quick to notice the White House’s silence and call out its petty partisanship:

When we first landed on the moon, the nation stood united in awe of what we could achieve together. Now, it seems party politics has overshadowed our ability to celebrate American innovation.

Labour’s ASHAMED of Britain. Starmer Removes Portraits of Elizabeth I & Walter Raleigh from No 10

Sir Keir Starmer has taken down portraits of Elizabeth I and Sir Walter Raleigh that were on display in Downing Street, The Telegraph can reveal. The paintings of the last Tudor monarch and the famous explorer of the Americas were previously on the walls of a room used for prime ministerial meetings with world leaders. Both have now been replaced with scenes from Crivelli’s Garden, a mural by Dame Paula Rego, the late Portuguese-born artist, whose work focuses on “strong and courageous women”. It comes after Sir Keir faced critism when it emerged he had also removed portraits of William Ewart Gladstone and Margaret Thatcher. NCF Director Peter Whittle discussed on GB News.

Kamala Harris appears to have airlifted sections of her book, Smart on Crime

Kamala Harris has become famous, in part, for her unique rhetorical style. She switches freely between various accents and peppers her speeches with catchphrases: pondering falling “out of a coconut tree,” discussing “the significance of the passage of time,” and moving the nation toward “what can be, unburdened by what has been.”

To her supporters, the vice president’s rhetorical flourishes represent the values of compassion and optimism. To her detractors, her reliance on platitudes and tautologies demonstrates her unfitness for the presidency.

But, as we have discovered in this exclusive report, another element appears to exist within Kamala Harris’s rhetorical universe: plagiarism.

At the beginning of Harris’s political career, in the run-up to her campaign to serve as California’s attorney general, she and co-author Joan O’C Hamilton published a small volume, entitled Smart on Crime: A Career Prosecutor’s Plan to Make Us Safer. The book helped to establish her credibility on criminal-justice issues.

However, according to Stefan Weber, a famed Austrian “plagiarism hunter” who has taken down politicians in the German-speaking world, Harris’s book contains more than a dozen “vicious plagiarism fragments.” Some of the passages he highlighted appear to contain minor transgressions—reproducing small sections of text; insufficient paraphrasing—but others seem to reflect more serious infractions, similar in severity to those found in Harvard president Claudine Gay’s doctoral thesis. (Harris did not respond to a request for comment.)

Let’s consider a selection of these excerpts from Harris’s book, beginning with one in which Harris discusses high school graduation rates. Here, she lifted verbatim language from an uncited NBC News report, with the duplicated material marked in italics:

In Detroit’s public schools, only 25 percent of the students who enrolled in grade nine graduated from high school, while 30.5 percent graduated in Indianapolis public schools and 34 percent received diplomas in the Cleveland Municipal City School District. Overall, about 70 percent of the U.S. students graduate from public and private schools on time with a regular diplomaand about 1.2 million students drop out annually. Only about half of the students served by public school systems in the nation’s largest cities receive diplomas.

There’s more. In another section of the book, Harris, without proper attribution, reproduced extensive sections from a John Jay College of Criminal Justice press release. She and her co-author passed off the language as their own, copying multiple paragraphs virtually verbatim. Here is the excerpt, with the airlifted material in italics and abbreviations, such as percentages and state names, treated as verbatim substitutions:

High Point had its first face-to-face meeting with drug dealers, from the city’s West End neighborhood, on May 18, 2004. The drug market shut down immediately and permanently, with a sustained 35 percent reduction in violent crime. High Point repeated the strategy in three additional markets over the next three years. There is virtually no remaining public drug dealing in the city, and serious crime has fallen 20 percent citywide.

The High Point Strategy has since been implemented in Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Raleigh, North Carolina; in Providence, Rhode Island; and in Rockford, Illinois. The U.S. Department of Justice is launching a national program to replicate the strategy in ten additional cities.

In a section about a New York court program, Harris stole long passages directly from Wikipedia—long considered an unreliable source. She not only assumes the online encyclopedia’s accuracy, but copies its language nearly verbatim, without citing the source. Here is Harris’s language, with duplicated material in italics, based on the page as it appeared in December 2008, before she published the book:

The Mid-town [sic] Community Court was established as a collaboration between the New York State Unified Court System and the Center for Court Innovation. The court works in partnership with local residents, businesses, and social service agencies to organize community service projects and provide on-site social services, including drug treatment, mental health counseling, and job training. What was innovative about Midtown Court was that it required low-level offenders to pay back the neighborhood through community servicewhile at the same time it offered them help with problems that often underlie criminal behavior.

To make matters worse, in duplicating Wikipedia’s language, Harris seems to have missed critical information and misstated a relevant detail. She claims, in prose identical to the online encyclopedia’s, that “illegal vending was down 24 percent” as a result of the court’s policies. Early in the paragraph, Harris cites the Bureau of Justice Assistance report to substantiate the figure. But she made a mistake: On Wikipedia, the “24 percent” figure was apparently tied to a different report, which found that “arrests for unlicensed vending,” rather than unlicensed vending as such, “fell by 24 percent” (emphasis mine). Her reliance on Wikipedia, an unreliable source, led to an unreliable conclusion.

While the BJA report was not the proper source for the “24 percent” claim, it did appear in the Wikipedia entry’s list of citations, and apparently was a fruitful resource for Harris and her coauthor, as they reproduced substantial portions of its sentences. Here is the passage in Harris’s book, with duplicated material from the BJA report noted in italics:

Take West Palm Beach, Florida. This residential neighborhood on the outskirts of downtown struggles with a high crime rate. Although West Palm Beach is less than one mile from Palm Beach, one of the most affluent cities in the country, more than a third of the town’s residents live in poverty, and unemployment is high. The community is full of deteriorated houses and businesses, vacant lots with discarded mattresses and piles of trash, and litter strewn throughout the streets, sidewalks, yards, and parks. At the time the community considered adding a court, no new business had opened in the area, and few new houses had been built in recent years.

Finally, when attempting to write a description of a nonprofit group, Harris simply lifted promotional language from an Urban Institute report, and failed to cite her source. Here is the current vice president, with the lifted language in italics:

Participants meet six days a week for twelve hours a day and take part in an intensive schedule that involves classes, group learning, and group counseling designed to help them take a hard look at the violence in their lives. When the men are released after serving their sentences, they continue a six-month substance-abuse program or continue in the Post Release Education Program. The men are also required to participate in community restoration activities to begin to make amends for the impact of violence on the community; RSVP conducts workshops and discussions at high schools and other public events to increase awareness about violent crime.

Taken in total, there is certainly a breach of standards here. Harris and her co-author duplicated long passages nearly verbatim without proper citation and without quotation marks, which is the textbook definition of plagiarism. They not only lifted material from sources without proper attribution, but in at least one case, relied on a low-quality source, which potentially undermined the accuracy of their conclusion.

Of course, Harris, like many other public figures, may have relied entirely on a ghostwriter to draft her book. But that is not exculpatory: Harris, at the end of the day, put her name on the cover.

On that point, one might recall the title of her book: Smart on Crime. There is nothing smart about plagiarism, which is the equivalent of an academic crime. The publisher, as well as the sitting vice president, should retract the plagiarized passages and issue a correction. There should be a single standard—and Kamala Harris is falling short.

Italy: 10-year-old child undergoes abortion after rape by Bangladeshi migrant in asylum center

FILE – Italian police guard the hotel Al Cacciatore in Collio in 2015 after locals protested its use as an asylum center.

An asylum seeker from Bangladesh is in custody facing accusations of raping and impregnating a 10-year-old girl at a migrant reception center in Italy.

The 28-year-old suspect is charged with aggravated sexual assault following the attack in San Colombano di Collio, Brescia.

The assault was brought to the attention of the authorities on Oct. 1 after being reported by the child’s mother who had noticed drastic changes in her daughter’s behavior.

According to QuiBrescia, the accused befriended the mother and his victim, both of whom were fellow asylum seekers staying at the facility, which accommodates around 20 migrants.

After the attack, the girl became distant, raising alarm bells with her mother who, with the assistance of staff at the reception center, later discovered that she was pregnant.

The man was arrested and remains in police custody. During an initial court hearing, he reportedly broke down in tears but remained silent through the proceedings.

The child and her mother have since been transferred to a protected location in the Lower Brescia area where she is receiving psychological support from a team of specialists.

Local media confirmed she had an abortion following the attack.

Local authorities are now investigating the facility which had previously been a focal point of protests in 2015 when locals opposed the housing of migrants in the former Hotel Il Cacciatore. The outrage of local residents however fell upon deaf ears, with local officials approving the location to house migrants.

Despite the attack, some local leaders insist the relationship between the migrants and residents has been nothing but positive, calling the climate in the village “one of peaceful coexistence.”

“This episode has nothing to do with migrants; we get along very well with them,” claimed Don Battista Dass, a local parish priest. “If I hadn’t read the newspaper, I wouldn’t have known about this horrible event; in the four years that I’ve been here, I’ve never seen or heard anything problematic in the village because of migrants,” he added.

The manager of the migrant facility, Giovanni Cantoni, also defended his residents. “I get along very well with them, better than with many Italians. And I have never, I repeat never, had any problems.”

Local mayor Mirella Zanini, however, struck a different tone.

“There has never been integration with the migrants hosted in the center, unlike with other foreigners present in the country for work reasons,” she said. “People never accepted that these young men were walking around the streets of the town doing nothing.”

Despite her criticism, she urged the public to refrain from protesting their stay, insisting, “Problems are not solved by creating chaos.”

Vivian Kubrick, Daughter of Filmmaker Stanley Kubrick, Weighs in on President Trump’s Use of Footage from Full Metal Jacket in His Latest Video… YOU WON’T WANT TO MISS THIS!

Vivian Kubrick, the daughter of the late Stanley Kubrick, one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, published a remarkable rebuke on Sunday night to the left who attacked President Trump in his latest ‘Woke Military” video.

Stanley Kubrick is considered one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. Kubrick’s films include Dr. Strangelove2001: A Space OdysseyA Clockwork OrangeThe ShiningFull Metal Jacket, and Eyes Wide Shut.

Kubrick not only directed his films but also wrote and produced many of his most famous films.

Vivian, quite talented herself, wrote the film score for FULL METAL JACKET and also made The Making of THE SHINING documentary.

On Sunday, President Donald Trump posted the following message on his Twitter account: “WE WILL NOT HAVE A WOKE MILITARY!”

The president included a video with scenes from boot camp in Full Metal Jacket juxtaposed with drag queens dancing in the current military.

Hours later, Vivian Kubrick weighed in on the video.

Vivian was responding to the critics who insisted her late father would not have approved of Trump’s use of the film footage in his tweet.

You will love this!

TO THOSE WHO THINK MY FATHER WOULDN’T HAVE WANTED #TRUMP TO USE FMJ FOOTAGE

Here are my thoughts: I agree in principle that an anti-war movie is incongruous with promoting the idea of a tough non-woke US military and thus war itself – however – these are very dangerous and strange times and thus using this footage is doubtless pure expedience.

Because I’m sure the irony of using FMJ footage is not lost on Trump or his team – Trump is always seeking to end wars and use peaceful methods.

However, that’s primarily what FMJ is about, the shocking and complicated paradoxes of human nature.

And thus, on this tooth and claw planet, you need a very strong military – so I’m going to stick with the idea that FMJ footage was used primarily because of its powerful, realistic portrayal of boot camp, juxtaposed with the entirely demoralizing and inappropriate injection of WOKE ideology into the USA military.

Which I agree with myself and which I’m certain my father would have agreed with.

Truthfully, I believe my father (who supported Reagan), would very much approve of saving America, indeed the world, from the highly destructive Globalist forces threatening to take over this planet.

And if that footage from FMJ helps Trump make the point that the US military needs properly trained, super tough, focused, dedicated warriors, and not introduce the demoralizing effects of woke-ism, and attracting people to join up simply to have their sexual reassignments paid for, then Trump has my blessing.

Finally, knowing my father very well, I can assure you he had a profound grasp of how paradoxical human nature is! Which accounts for how at the same time he made anti-war films, he had a great passion for guns (self-defense not hunting) and he had quite a few!

My father had a great respect for life – his movies being unimpeachable evidence of his love for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness!

So on that basis, I feel very confident he would be a Trump supporter and would forgive using FMJ incongruously, if it helps the cause of freedom!

Capisce?

Here is Vivian’s tweet:

Wonderful.

And, yes… Vivian has an image of President Trump surviving an assassination attempt as her Twitter profile photo.

The Gateway Pundit reached out to Vivian Kubrick. She told us she will offer us a response soon.

‘Non-believers will burn in hell,’ say illegal Rohingya Muslims living in India who run their own madarsas

Illegal Rohingya Immigrants living in Haryana go to a makeshift madarsa where they get religious education. The children studying their believe “non believers will burn in hell”. (Image: SS from video by organiser)

On 7th October, Organiser Weekly shared a disturbing video of a madarsa catering illegal Rohingya immigrants living in Nuh, Haryana. In the video, children studying in a makeshift madarsa claimed, “non-believers will burn in hell.” As reported by Subhi Vishwakarma, around 400 illegal immigrants live in the area. The children study Urdu, Pashto, Farsi, English, and Hindi in the madarsa. The children have no intention of becoming doctors or engineers and want to become “Hafiz” when they grow up.

Though the Muslim teacher, also a Rohingya, was cautious enough not to make any controversial statements, the children did not hold back and professed extreme beliefs. Not to forget, Nuh witnessed violence against Hindus in July 2023 when Islamists attacked Shobhayatra and killed innocent Hindus and security personnel. In the same Nuh, Mewat area, Mamman Khan, Congress candidate and one of the accused in Nuh Violence has won the Haryana Assembly Elections with the highest margin.

Rohingyas came to India illegally without visas or passports

In the video, the illegal immigrants from Myanmar informed the Organiser team that they reside in Nangal village near Nuh, Haryana. Speaking to the team, one of the teachers, Muhammad Yunus, said that there are around 400 refugees living in the area. He stated that all the children of the refugees living in Mewat and Nuh attend this particular madarsa.

Another teacher, Ziaur Rahman, who also teaches at the madarsa, said he crossed into India illegally via Bangladesh in 2016, escaping the violence in Myanmar. He openly admitted that he entered India illegally with the help of people at the border. He said that he did not have a passport or visa to enter India. Furthermore, when asked if they had any local identity cards, he claimed that they only had UNHCR refugee cards.

Though Yunus claimed that they teach Hindi and English at the madarsa, when Subhi and her team checked, the available books were all in Urdu and Farsi. When asked about the other books, Yunus claimed they were kept in another classroom, which was conveniently locked at the time.

Illegal immigrants’ journey from Myanmar and life in India

In the video, they discussed their harrowing journey from Myanmar to India. They explained that they fled to preserve their faith in the face of severe persecution. Rahman, who came to India in 2016, has been living without any identification documents other than the refugee card.

When asked if they received any government support to establish the “refugee camp,” Yunus said that the government did not provide any support, but no one stopped them either. The illegal immigrants have essentially been living on encroached land for around a decade without interference from the authorities.

Yunus also claimed that they keep away from illegal activities and that officials from CID often visit them, warning them not to come out if there is any potential for violence in the area. He said, “They [CID] come and tell us not to go out, and we oblige.” Despite the madarsa being an illegal structure on encroached land, it has become the primary educational institution for the Rohingya children in the area, where they receive religious education.

‘No doctors, no engineers, only Hafiz’

As the so-called Hindi and English books were unavailable for the Organiser team to check, it is safe to conclude that the madarsa’s educational curriculum is strictly religious. Children are taught Arabic, Urdu, Quran recitations, and the fundamentals of Islam. When the team spoke to a few children at the madarsa, they made it clear that their ambition is to become Hafiz and dedicate their lives to serving Allah. When questioned about choosing alternative careers such as becoming a doctor or engineer, one child refused and said, “I want to become Hafiz.”

Strong sentiments against non-believers

One of the most alarming aspects of the video was the views they hold about non-Muslims. When the reporter asked what the definition of the best Muslim was, one of the students said, “The best Muslim is the one who remains connected with Allah at all times, for whom religion always comes first. Those who do not believe in Allah will know when the Dajjal (Antichrist) comes, and he will take them to the fire of hell. The Dajjal will make false claims, but we will not believe in him; we will only have faith in Allah. Those who do not believe in Allah will definitely burn in hell.”

To which the reporter sarcastically replied, “Oh, we too will burn? We don’t believe in Allah, so are we going to burn? Well, yes, we are infidels, we are Hindus. But we don’t know much about this.”

The reporter then asked, “What are we to you, as Hindus?” The reply was, “Just brothers and sisters.” The reporter responded with humour, “Wow! Please don’t call us infidels (kafir), at least let us live in peace!”

From the conversation, it was evident that the students believe non-believers will burn in hell, but they had been taught not to say anything about Hindus or call them “Kafirs.”

Exposure to Zakir Naik’s controversial teachings

Another problematic aspect of the video was the confirmation that reporters received about the children being exposed to the videos of controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, who is known for his anti-Hindu views. When asked if the children watched his videos, they praised him and said, “We like how he brings people to the path of faith with full force and conviction. That’s what we appreciate about him.”

Conclusion

The video has raised several questions about the situation in Nuh. There are multiple camps of Rohingyas in the region. One of the madarsa teachers confirmed that several of the illegal immigrants are living in Jammu and Kashmir, Hyderabad, Rajasthan, Delhi, and West Bengal. Apart from what he admitted, there have been reports of illegal Rohingyas being caught in Assam, Mumbai, and other places. Their presence in India and their children receiving religious education may have serious implications for the country’s social fabric.

While they express gratitude for the safety and security they enjoy in India on camera, their commitment to radical beliefs about non-believers points to a deep-seated ideology that could have far-reaching consequences.

Nuh Shobhayatra attack of July 2023

On 31st July, a mob of hundreds of Islmist rioters attacked Hindu devotees participating in the Brijmandal Jalabhishek Yatra in Nuh, Mewat of Haryana. At least six people were killed as a result of the riots.

During the investigation into the riots, OPIndia accessed over 25 FIRs and complaints that provided a clearer picture of what happened during the violence. Based on information available via FIRs, complaints and witnesses, it appeared that the attack was pre-planned. OPIndia came across several videos posted two days before the Jalabhishek Yatra instigating Muslims against Hindus.

Islamists have claimed the riots happened because of Bajrang Dal activist and Gau Rakshak Monu Manesar. Old videos of Monu were circulated to instigate Muslims saying he was going to Nuh on that day. The video that was mostly circulated was from October 2022. Detailed reports can be checked here.

Furthermore, a cyber crime police station was attacked in Nuh, Police officials were injured, Home Guards were killed. The rioters first shot one of the Bajrang Dal activists Abhishek, then his throat was slit and his head was crushed leading to his death.

OpIndia’s complete coverage of the Mewat Shobha Yatra Attack can be checked here.

UK Nanny State Law Would Force Pubs to Employ ‘Banter Police’, Warn Free Speech Advocates

Apparently not content with merely policing speech on the internet or on the streets, the leftist Labour Party government in Britain is reportedly looking to pass legislation which would crack down on supposedly offensive comments made in pubs.

The government of Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, in its impending Employment Rights Bill, would change equality laws in Britain to mean that employers would be held responsible for their employees being offended by “third parties” like their customers or the general public.

The law would require businesses and public institutions to take “all reasonable steps” to prevent harassment based on so-called “protected characteristics” from happening within their premises, The Telegraph reports.

Free speech advocates have argued that the law would force business owners, such as publicans, to employ Stasi-style speech police to comply with the government diktats.

General secretary of the Free Speech Union Toby Young warned: “Expect every pub in England and Wales to employ ‘banter cops’ who’ll be tasked with eavesdropping on customers’ conversations and barring anyone who tells an ‘inappropriate’ joke.”

Others warned that the law would have disastrous consequences for already struggling companies in Britain. Shadow Business Secretary, Conservative MP Kevin Hollinrake said that the “agenda is being driven by wokeness and the unions”.

“Ronald Reagan once said if fascism ever returns it will be in the name of liberalism. The people who are supposedly the greatest defenders of basic liberties and quite happy to jettison basic rights – be it over property, the rule of law and free speech – if it doesn’t accord with their own views.”

The potential introduction of speech police in pubs is just the latest attack on the industry by the leftist Labour government, which is pushing forward to ban smoking in outdoor areas such as in pub gardens. There have also reportedly been some within the government pushing for a new limit on pub hours to supposedly prevent alcohol-related illnesses.

Commenting on the attack on pubs, Reform UK MP Lee Anderson told The Express: “Once again this government are clamping down on free speech and hammering our publicans in the process.”

“With 50 pubs closing every month in the first half of this year, they need more support than ever not this nanny state nonsense.”

There have also been warnings that the proposed legislation would have a “chilling effect” on campuses as universities could potentially face lawsuits if students are offended by speakers who they disagree with. This comes after the Labour government already scrapped legislation specifically laying out protections for freedom of speech at universities.

Legal director at the law firm Doyle Clayton James Murray explained that the new law would likely mean controversial speakers would face even more difficulty speaking to students.

“If we think about a speaker that has been invited – say it’s a controversial gender critical speaker, like Julie Bindel or Kathleen Stock – someone might somewhat disingenuously say ‘I am an employee of this university and I find what she says deeply harassing’.

“The concern is that this will shift the balance away from free speech and universities will be more risk averse as they won’t want to be held liable for third-party harassment.”

German government threw €50 million at failed hydrogen train fleet

A prestigious train project in Germany, aimed at introducing a fleet of hydrogen-powered locomotives to the railway system, has fallen flat despite over €50 million in government investments.

As part of the German ‘Energiewende‘, the country’s transition to so-called green energy, the Taurus project was set to be a shining example of clean energy use for public transport.

More than €50 million of taxpayer money was put into the project, including €24 million for a hydrogen filling station.

The money was part of a larger €500 million from various investors, the Frankfurter Neue Presse reports.

But rather than being a shining beacon for the rest of Europe, the project has reportedly failed. Most trains stand in depots, waiting to be repaired because the technology is unreliable.

Rather than travelling in vehicles emitting only water and vapour, many German travellers now find themselves struggling with bus timetables and emergency rail solutions running on diesel.

“The heads of administration of the Hochtaunus municipalities express their displeasure at the fact that the Taunus network can only rely on unreliability”, the Frankfurter Neue Presse wrote.

Alstom SA, the French transportation industry and rail transport multinational behind the vehicles, is unable to get the trains rolling, citing material bottlenecks and “limited functionality of individual fuel cells”.

The company is said to be “overwhelmed” by “extraordinary” conditions. They say there is a “limited functionality of individual fuel cells”.

Observers such as the head of the fuel cell technology laboratory at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, Enno Wagner, argue that the technical issues cited as an excuse are due to hydrogen technology not yet being mature enough for daily train operations, making it unreliable.

Fuel cell technology is highly complex and new in everyday and broad use. “This requires extensive field tests, which should also be supported by the state. ”

As such, Germany’s decision to replace a complete fleet with the new locomotives immediately “may have been a bit premature”, Wagner said last year.

Alstom promised to increase the availability of the hydrogen-powered trains at short notice, expand the workshop staff and technical support, as well as renew hardware components and install software updates.

The fleet will also go through a modernisation program for the fuel cells, starting somewhere in 2025.

The responsible public transport network in Germany, the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV), one of the largest in the country, is now reportedly looking for a way out.

It is reportedly “desperate” and investigating if it is possible to terminate certain contracts

Ulrich Krebs, District Administrator and member of the Christian Democratic Union, said that “constant planning in the operational process is no longer acceptable” and called for the return of diesel trains.

Krebs, who is also the chairman of the RMV supervisory board, is open to terminating the €500 million project despite the 25-year contract.

To what extent a termination of the contracts would even be legally possible, the RMV has so far remained tight-lipped, the Frankfurter Neue Presse said.

Reportedly, the Taunus project has been struggling for almost two years.

In response to enquiries about an exit strategy, the RMV press office reportedly is tersely and evasive, stating that they insist on adherence to the agreements reached. Alstom is required under these contracts to supply enough vehicles for efficient operations.

According to the RMV, Alstom has already been slapped with sanctions and will cover the “follow-up costs of the poor quality of the trains.” This includes the increased repair costs, among other things.

Additionally, the manufacturer is required to supply replacement train carriages and, if required, cover the expenses of bus transportation in place of rail.

On top of all this, maintenance payments to the corporation would be slashed. It is alleged that a significant portion of these payments were not made in 2023.
