Britain’s new leader, Prime Minister Keir Starmer, in the tried-and-true way of Communist dictators, has begun his first term by initiating a great purge of British dissidents.

British protesters, denounced as “far right thugs,” are being put behind bars faster than the prison services can absorb. More than 1,000 people who have been arrested and more than 500 charged, are waiting for their court appearances in police holding cells: prisons have run out of space. As in the most expert dictatorship, even children and grandfathers have been arrested by the police for “rioting”. The youngest child arrested and charged is just 11 years old.

Because the prisons, already overflowing, cannot handle the sudden influx of mass-sentenced wrongthinkers, Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood announced that to make room for the dissidents, it will be freeing early roughly 5,500 criminals from prison this month. The released prisoners “will include criminals convicted of violence who have been jailed for less than four years but exclude those serving longer sentences for more serious violence,” according to The Telegraph.

The mass arrests and trials are occurring at the same time as “Police are increasingly letting knife and sex offenders escape prosecution if they say sorry,” according to an August 26 report by The Telegraph, which continued:

“More than 147,000 people accused of offences including sex crimes, violence and weapons possession were given community resolutions in the year to March instead of being prosecuted. Such resolutions do not result in a criminal record. Police guidance says community resolutions should be restricted to low-level crimes, with offenders required to apologise to the victim, accept ‘responsibility’ for their crime and offer some form of recompense. But the resolutions, which are issued at the discretion of individual officers, have increased by 40 per cent since 2019 – when 102,574 were recorded – and are now nearly twice as likely as a criminal charge, according to an analysis of Ministry of Justice data.”

British wrongthinkers guilty of expressing their anger on the internet or hurling obscenities at police officers are held to a completely different standard, as the following selected list of Britons recently sentenced at record speed shows:

Julie Sweeney, a 53-year-old grandmother and caretaker of her husband from a village in Cheshire posted angry words on the internet after the murder of the three little girls in Southport by Axel Rudakubana, the teenage son of Rwandan migrants. “Don’t protect the mosques. Blow the mosques up with the adults in it,” she wrote in a local online community group. Calling Sweeney a “keyboard warrior”, Judge Steven Everett Branding told her that “even people like you need to go to prison”.

In 2022, the same judge, in a case of a 76-year old pedophile who had downloaded child porn, ruled that “It would be unconscionable to send him to prison.”

Sweeney’s husband described how numerous police had arrived in three police cars just to arrest his wife, who had never before had anything to do with the law and lived a “sheltered and quiet life.” Sweeney told the police that she had posted the comment in anger following the murder of the three little girls and had “no intention to put people in fear.” She also apologized, telling police her comment had been unacceptable and that she would be deleting her Facebook account. The British justice system had no mercy: She was sentenced to 15 months in prison.

Unlike Sweeney, Rudakubana, charged with the murder of the three girls and attempted murder of ten people, mainly children, will only go on trial in January 2025.

A spokesman for Cheshire police thoughtfully notified the public that the grandmother had been thrown in jail to serve as a stark warning to other wrongthinkers:

“As this case demonstrates, there is nowhere to hide. If you choose to engage in this behaviour, whether in person or online, we will find you and you will be held responsible.”

Jordan Parlour, 28, was also sentenced for writing on a Facebook post: “Every man and their dog should be smashing fuck out Britannia Hotel”, a hotel in Leeds housing migrants that was reportedly being pelted with stones at the time by protesters. Parlour’s post received just six likes with one Facebook user asking “why?” Parlour replied:

“They are over here given a life of Riley off the tax of us hard-working people earn when it could be put to better use… come here with no work visa, no trade to their name and sit and doss and then there’s more people being put out homeless each year, they get top band priority on housing and many more other reasons.”

Judge Guy Kearl said in his sentencing remarks:

“You were arrested in the early hours of 5th August and interviewed by the police. Your motivation became clear when you informed the police that you had promoted the idea of attacking the Britannia Hotel as a result of anger and frustration at immigration problems in the country. You went on to say that you did not want your money going to immigrants who ‘rape our kids and get priority’.

“Although you said that you had no intention of carrying out any act of violence, there can be no doubt that you were inciting others to do so, otherwise, why post the comment? You expressed remorse but by that time it was too late….

“[T]his offence is so serious that an immediate custodial sentence is unavoidable. The sentence that I pass has been reduced by 1/3 to reflect your guilty plea. The sentence is 20 months imprisonment.”

In 2021, Judge Guy Kearl ruled that a pedophile, who was found guilty of downloading “hundreds of vile child sex abuse images” on his computer, did not have to serve any time in jail.

Pensioner David Spring, 61, recently retired, was sentenced to 18 months in prison, “as a deterrent to others” for making threatening and hostile gestures towards police. He had called officers “c*nts” and joined in chants of “you’re not English any more” and “who the f*** is Allah.”

Judge Benedict Kelleher was asked to consider Spring’s caring duties for his sick wife. Instead, he told Spring that “severe” sentences were needed to deter others. So the pensioner was sent straight to prison. The judge said:

“At that point you did that [the shouting and swearing at police] you must have been well aware it was a particularly volatile situation and police were doing their best to keep order. Your actions showed a complete contempt for the police at that time… What you were doing could and, it appears, did encourage others to threaten the police and add to the disorder.”

Gary Harkness, 51, was handed a 12-month prison sentence even though the judge did not appear to quite think that he had committed any crime. What his “crime” was is still not clear. Apparently, he admitted to being “part of” a disorder, but seems to have done nothing criminal, apart from being extremely drunk, which is not a crime. Handing out his sentence, Judge Linford said:

“Of the people I have thus far sentenced you are the person who provides me with the most difficulty because it cannot be levelled at you that you hit anyone, neither have you thrown anything, neither is it said that you spat at anybody.

“But it is accepted by you that you were a party to this disorder and I have to sentence you on the basis, and you also know that anyone party to it has to receive a custodial sentence.”

Harkness, had apparently drunk quite a bit on the day of the “disorder” and “was seen making lewd gestures and swearing during the evening and at another point pushes or is pushed by a police officer.” He was sentenced anyway.

William Nelson Morgan, 69, a grandfather, was sentenced to 32 months in prison after he was arrested for refusing to move as police pushed back a crowd of rioters where he was present. The court was shown body-worn-camera footage of Morgan being arrested with him saying: “I’m English, I’m 70, all right – leave me alone!” He can also be seen to shout: “Get off me, I’m fucking 70, you pricks.” He was carrying a small wooden truncheon, which the judge called a “serious aggravating factor.”

Peter Lynch, 61, a grandfather in Rotherham, a place where children have for decades been experiencing rape, other sexual abuse, and torture at the hands of mainly Muslim grooming gangs while police and the city council looked the other way, shouted at police, “you are protecting people who are killing our kids and raping them” and “scum”. Lynch was charged with violent disorder, an offence under section 2 of the Public Order Act 1986 which requires that 3 or more persons are present together, that unlawful violence is used or threatened, and that the conduct of the persons would “cause a person of reasonable firmness present at the scene to fear for his personal safety”.

Judge Jeremy Richardson told Lynch:

“You did not yourself attack any police officer, as far as can be detected, but what you did was encourage by your conduct others to behave violently and you were part of this mob… What a disgraceful example you are as a grandfather.”

Lynch suffers from diabetes, thyroid issues, angina and has recently had a heart attack, but none of this evidently was of concern to the judge who sentenced him to prison for two years and eight months for the “crime” of disagreeing with the Starmer regime.

Lynch was simply telling the truth: In cities such as Rotherham, Telford, Rochdale, Oxford, Peterborough, Keighley, Newcastle and Birmingham local police and councils knowingly allowed mostly Muslim grooming gangs to rape, abuse, torture and even murder thousands of little children and teenagers for decades because they said that if they stopped the crimes, they might appear “racist”. These crimes not only continue to this day, but Starmer’s new government is knowingly facilitating more of them. Even before the protests began, Starmer set out to make room in the overcrowded prisons by freeing, among other criminals, members of the grooming gangs. GB News reported in early July

“A vile ringleader of a Rotherham child sex abuse gang will be freed after serving just seven years of a thirteen-year sentence. Pedophile Matloob Hussain was jailed in February 2017 but now he’s been referred for release by the Parole Board, meaning he is likely to be back out on the streets in a matter of days.”

The early release of rapists, pedophiles and violent criminals is especially concerning because the Starmer government doubtless knows that this policy will lead to a spike in those crimes. The Telegraph reported in July:

“At least one murder, sex assault or crime of violence is committed every two days by convicted criminals under supervision of the probation service after being released from jail, research has revealed. An analysis of Ministry of Justice data shows that 3,540 serious further offences (SFOs) – which include murder, kidnap, rape, arson and other sexual or violent crimes – were carried out by criminals released from between 2010 and 2022 and placed under the supervision of the probation service. They included 762 murders, 220 attempted murders and more than 1,000 serious sexual crimes including rape, sexual assault, and rape of children under 13 since 2010. It equated to one offence every 30 hours over the 12-year period.”

Does the Starmer government really have so much contempt for the British? They are not even allowed to protest the rape of their children.

An additional injustice is that the law on “racial incitement” is not applied equally to everyone in Britain. For more than ten months, weekly incitement across the UK in support of the terrorist group Hamas has had no legal consequences whatsoever for those involved. These groups, orchestrated by Hamas-affiliated organizations, wave jihadist and Al Qaeda flagscall for “Jihad!” and for Israel to be cleansed of its Jews “from the river to the sea,” celebrate terrorists who murder, rape, mutilate and burn innocent people alive. They are allowed to continue their incitement, even though, in the UK, both Hamas and Al Qaeda are proscribed terrorist organizations and supporting them can carry a prison sentence up to 14 years.

This encumbrance does not appear to be the last liability that Starmer has in store for the British, whom, it seems, he aims to silence completely. Government advisor John Woodcock, to crack down on the protests, actually called for “Covid-style lockdowns”:

“New ministers in office will understand that the British public will back them in whatever measures they feel are necessary to get this situation under control. We should cast our minds back to the days of Covid where the public accepted an emergency situation that we prepared to back and lawmakers were prepared to support….

“In Covid the [British public was] able to back measures that were needed in that situation. They would take a similar approach to keep rioters off the streets to see the scale of damage being done to communities.”

The government is preparing even more censorship. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, according to the Guardian, has been vowing “to crack down on promotion of ‘hateful beliefs'” to address “gaps in the current system” that “leave the country exposed to hateful or harmful activity that promotes violence or undermines democracy.”

The government is reportedly also considering a proposal by the Centre for Countering Digital Hate to grant government regulator Ofcom “emergency powers that would momentarily allow it to demand action taken by online platforms” against unwanted speech or information.

In addition, Speaker of the House of Commons Sir Lindsay Hoyle recently made it clear that he thinks everything with which the government disagrees should be banned on social media. There seems to be no awareness of the essential problem: who chooses what is misinformation? Hoyle said:

“Misinformation is dangerous. Social media is good, but it is also bad when people are using it in a way that could cause a riot, threats, intimidation, actually suggesting that we should attack somebody – you know, it’s not acceptable. What we’ve got to is make sure it’s factual, correct, what’s up there. If not, I think the government have really got to think long and hard about what they’re going to do with social media and what are they going to put through parliament as a bill to act….

It doesn’t matter what country you’re in, the fact is that misinformation is dangerous. And no misinformation or threat or intimidation should be allowed to be carried out on social media platform. This should be for good, not for bad.”

“Ideas are more powerful even than guns. We would not let our enemies have guns, why should we let them have ideas,” said Soviet dictator and mass murderer Josef Stalin. Those words appear to have become Starmer’s motto, as he ruthlessly purges the British population of those who disagree with him, having the courts hand them all massive prison sentences in overcrowded jails to “deter” anyone who might even think of dissenting in the future. Starmer’s methods were once exclusively reserved for dictatorships such as China, Russia and North Korea. Western democracies did not used to sentence people to long prison sentences for speech crimes.

Judging by the silence of Western political and media elites in the face of this Orwellian crackdown in the country that gave the world the magna carta, we would be wise to remember that this chilling reality could soon be ours.

‘Too Sensitive’ UK Govt Refuses to Release Cost of Furnishing Asylum Seeker Flats

The UK government has refused to reveal the cost of kitting out flats for alleged asylum seekers over concerns of a backlash against migrants.

The independent Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has ruled in favour of the Home Office in refusing to abide by Freedom of Information requests about the cost of furnishing an apartment bloc in Hampshire to house some 346 supposed asylum seekers. According to The Telegraph, the flats were said to have been equipped with flat-screen televisions and satellite tv.

John Edwards, the head of the watchdog, said that refusing the FOI request was justified given the potential threat posed to migrants if the public was made aware of how much they were spending on migrant flats.

“While the commissioner appreciates the public interest in the cost of providing accommodation used to accommodate asylum seekers, in his view this is outweighed by the Home Office neither confirming nor denying whether it holds any information falling within the scope of this request,” his ruling stated.

In its arguments to the ICO, the Home Office said that the information was “highly emotive and sensitive” and that previous reports on migrant housing had resulted in public disorder.

“It is common knowledge that vulnerable asylum seekers are targets of reprisals or reactions, and asylum-seeking individuals or groups of asylum-seeking individuals have been threatened and harassed in the past,” the government department said.

It comes as the government is seeking to end housing migrants in hotels and other large scale accomodations such as the Bibby Stockholm barge and the RAF Scampton base.

Instead, the new left-wing government is reportedly considering plans to redistribute migrants throughout the country by in empty houses and unused school buildings.

Critics, such as Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, have warned that the scheme will further exacerbate the housing crisis and only serve to increase anger among the young and working class, who would bear the brunt of the effects of the reported plans.

Commenting on the refusal to release information on the cost of furnishing flats for asylum seekers, Reform UK MP Lee Anderson said: “The real risk is to the taxpayer, who is spending millions of pounds per day on people that should not be in the country.

“The fact that the Home Office and Information Commissioner are hiding or suppressing this information is a kick in the teeth for every single hard-working taxpayer in this country. They should have this information. I think they are probably embarrassed about the cost of it.”

British invasions, then and now

By Eric Utter

Remember the “British Invasion?” It occurred in the 1960s (and 1970s) when bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Animals, The Kinks, The Hollies, The Moody Blues, Herman’s Hermits, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Queen, Led Zeppelin, ELO, Elton John, Spandau Ballet, The Specials, The Police — and many others — became wildly successful in the United States.

Can you name me a wildly popular British band today? (Okay, other than The Rolling Stones, led by Mick Jagger, aged 81.)

Crickets.

There is a reason for this, albeit a sad one. Britain is spent. Its society is in decay. It has lost its toughness, its confidence, and its creative excellence. A kind of benign snobbery has been replaced by an ennui and world-weariness more suitable to the French.

The notions of free speech and individual rights are in tatters. Britain is the victim of another kind of invasion and is being effectively annexed by mass migration from Muslim lands. The vast majority of these immigrants are unable and unwilling to assimilate to British culture, odd for people fleeing violence and depredation. They are, in fact, demanding that England — and the English — assimilate to them.

Remarkably, many Brits appear willing to do just that.

In which case, music may eventually be banned in (formerly) Jolly Olde England. An England that is undeniably old, but increasingly less jolly.

Tragically, the U.S. (which somehow survived two other British invasions in the distant past), as well as several other Western nations, are following hard on the heels of Britain.

And that should not be music to anyone’s ears.

“The Blob” in Brazil: TGP Exposes the Million-Dollar US Censorship Industry Attacking Free Speech in Brazil as Half a Million Brazilians Protest for Freedom in São Paulo

Organizers estimated the crowd in São Paulo at 500,000 Saturday

Half a million Brazilians came out Saturday in São Paulo and more all across the country to protest the massive censorship campaign against X and the persecution of opposition citizens, journalists and politicians. Gateway Pundit reveals the network of US Deep State funded “Non”-Governmental Oganizations fighting free speech in Brazil, which are a product with the same censorship complex active in the United States and Europe.

Twitter Files journalist Michael Shellenberger risked possible prosecution in Brazil to attend the free speech rally Staurday with President Jair Bolsonaro, son Eduardo Bolsonaro and many others.

“Brazilian President Lula and Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes say they must block X to protect Brazil’s independence. X is a platform for dangerous, false, and hateful words, they say, and many of those words violate Brazil’s laws and Constitution. But their censorship goes far beyond what Brazil’s constitution allows. The government demanded that X and other social media networks censor and ban individual people, including journalists and politicians. Such bans are immoral, illegal, and unconstitutional. They constitute election interference and undermine democracy by preventing candidates from getting the word out”, Shellenberger wrote.

Switzerland: Muslim woman from the Green Party used image of Jesus as a target

Image of Mary and Jesus smashed for fun: For many, the controversial Green politician Sanija Ameti has gone too far this time.

Sasouks / wikimedia commons (CC BY SA 4.0)

An Instagram post by Swiss Green-Liberal politician Sanija Ameti has caused a stir. She had herself photographed shooting an image of the Virgin Mary with baby Jesus. The 31-year-old, who was born in Bosnia-Herzegovina, says she is a Muslim.

14 shots at Christianity

It is unclear what the politician was expecting when she showed off her shooting skills on Instagram yesterday, Saturday. Every shot a hit! But instead of applause, she was met with a storm of indignation. The post showed that she had deliberately shot at the heads of the two icons of Christianity and was apparently proud of it.

At a time when radicalised Muslims are swarming Europe to slaughter ‘infidels’ with their knives, this is a provocation in a very special kind of way.

Image chosen ‘at random’

Ameti, who says she shoots for recreation, defended her choice of target by explaining that she had ‘accidentally’ used a picture from an art catalogue without taking the religious context into account. She claims to have had no intention of doing so. This is said by a woman who grew up in Christian Switzerland.

She has since deleted the controversial post ‘because people could feel that their religious feelings have been hurt’.

Au revoir, France: your synagogues and churches are burned

by Giulio Meotti

Just a week ago, a man with a Palestinian flag and a keffiyeh set fire to the Beth Yaacov synagogue in La Grande-Motte, in the south of the country. In May, they burned the synagogue in Rouen.

And this week I read a chilling article by historian Marc Knobel about burned synagogues:

“It all started on October 1, 2000. What happened that day? A synagogue in the 19th arrondissement of Paris receives threats. A Molotov cocktail is thrown into the courtyard of the synagogue. The same day, a Molotov cocktail is thrown into a kosher restaurant in Paris. And, during the service, an unknown person leaves another in the courtyard of the Chnei Or school in Aubervilliers.

“The same type of explosive reached the synagogue in Clichy-sous-Bois. That day, three Molotov cocktails were thrown at the Ulis synagogue. The first level of the synagogue was completely destroyed, the rabbi went up to the first floor to escape death. In Trappes, the synagogue was completely devastated by a fire.

“A few days later, two incendiary devices were thrown at the Creil synagogue. During the night of October 12-13, 2000, one or more people broke two windows of the Bondy synagogue and threw one or more incendiary devices into the synagogue. In the capital, at 1:00 a.m., the door of a synagogue in the 20th arrondissement was set on fire. In the evening, a Molotov cocktail was thrown at the Tenoudji school in Saint-Ouen. Two incendiary bottles were thrown at the Chevilly-Larue synagogue. On the night of the 15th to the 16th, in Meudon, two Molotov cocktails were thrown at the synagogue. Someone who was there reportedly shouted ‘Allah Akbar’”.

That’s how it started, and since then dozens of synagogues have burned: from Bondy to Toulouse and Marseille to Trappes, and again and again.

Given the levels of anti-Semitism, “the Jews will not have more than a decade in France before they have to leave,” Rabbi Yaacov Bitton of Sarcelles has just denounced.

The churches fare no better.

The church of Saint-Omer, in the Pas-de-Calais, Inaugurated in 1859, has been devastated by flames. It had just been restored. The fire broke out at 4:30 in the morning. They wanted to destroy it. Despite the intervention of 120 firefighters sent to put out the flames, the bell tower and the structure collapsed. The municipality had just spent 5 million euros to restore it.

The culprit taken into custody this time is Joël Vigoureux (centre photo, Ed.) , a left-wing militant already convicted for other attacks on churches, who published pro-Palestinian, pro-Islamic, anti-Christian and Black Lives Matter comments on his social media.

A textbook case of self-hatred.

The Coptic Jean Messiha is right when he writes: “When a slice of ham is thrown at a mosque, the media calls for the rebirth of the Republic against the return of fascism and sings the partisans’ anthem over and over again. But when 40 churches are burned in less than a year, not a word is said by the media. Self-hatred as a prerequisite for love of one’s neighbor?”.

The news is merciless: “In Martigné-Briand, between Anjou and Mauges, in the church of Saint-Simplicien, the second arson attack in two months took away the confessional. In Dannevoux, in the Meuse, the altar of the church was targeted, burned on the day of Pentecost…”.

“In France, a church burns every two weeks,” declared the president of the Observatory of Religious Heritage Edouard de Lamaze to the website 76actu. Two-thirds of religious building fires are caused by arson, Lamaze told the Catholic News Agency. He also said that in France a mosque is built every 15 days while “a Christian building is destroyed at the same rate”.

When the church of Saint Louis in Fontainebleau was burned, Le Figaro commented: “Every day in France, nearly two places of worship or Christian burials are vandalized. But what is most revolting is that this massive destruction of our heritage systematically benefits from the most total indifference, both on the part of our political leaders and the main media channels. Many great figures have passed through the church of Saint Louis over the centuries. Between 1611 and 1614, Marie de Medici and Henri IV laid the foundations of this church. In 1661, Louis XIV and Anne of Austria built a chapel there. In 1868, Napoleon III completed the site. Now it burns, silently. Will ours be a century of destruction and indifference?”.

It might be worth keeping in mind Siegmund Freud’s warning: “A civilization that leaves so many of its members dissatisfied and drives them to revolt, neither has nor deserves the prospect of a lasting existence.”

When the cathedrals and synagogues of a nation burn, the pillars on which it was built are shattered with them, and the void opens up in which the devils of endless political correctness sleep and stir.

Pleading for Permanence: The Turkic Azerbaijanis are seeking to eradicate all signs of the ancient Christian history of Armenia

Hilaire Belloc once wrote that the loss of a family home where previous generations had lived and loved for centuries is “a sharp foretaste of death.” It is a sense that there will be no return, that the collective memory enshrined in the walls of the house will be no more; newcomers, who have no memory of the place and its traditions, will not even recognise its history.

Roger Scruton, that great philosopher of place, wrote that “belonging is a relationship in history.” What happens when both memory and history become weapons of war, when space itself, both sacred and secular, becomes a means by which the enemy destroys the signs and symbols which were, in a sense, the family home, erasing all memory of their presence with deliberate intent?

Conquerors have often destroyed important symbols of the subjugated people’s history or converted them to new use, but there has been a powerful development over the last several decades of the deliberate, systematic destruction of symbols—especially sacred symbols and the signs of the actual presence of a people—to deny historical reality, the eradication of memory as a weapon of war.

This was not just the Taliban destroying ancient Buddhist shrines in Afghanistan; it was far more deliberate and wide-ranging. It is ongoing in one country and seemingly unchallenged by the international community. That might be because, in two specific areas, the attempt to destroy the historical presence of a people was and is being perpetrated by Islamic forces against a Christian culture.

When the forces of the Islamic State (ISIS) swept through Syria and Iraq, beginning in 2014, they immediately began destroying both churches and the Christian symbols within them. Visiting both Syria and Iraq many times, I have seen every Cross in a church defaced, statues broken, and icons scratched and damaged. There was a reason, for example, that ISIS used churches in Mosul as torture centres, prisons, and often places for target practice. It was not only to blaspheme and insult their true purpose, to gloat over the defeated Christian populace, but also to deny the building ever had a sacred use. There was far worse to see. In many places, ISIS destroyed Christian graveyards, something I saw with my own eyes. They not only destroyed the graveyards; they dug up the bodies of the Christian ancestors and threw them away. If there are no graveyards, it means the people were never there. The policy was not merely cultural vandalism; it was deliberate and planned.

Scruton wrote that “sacred spaces are steeped in the hope and sufferings of those who have fought for them. And they belong to others who are yet to be.” To eradicate hallowed ground not only denies the reality of an historical presence but also attempts to ensure that those who are “yet to be” will never return.

This policy is happening in another part of the world at this very moment. This time, not the work of a revolutionary force, but the work of a nation feted across the globe, especially because it has seemingly unlimited amounts of oil and gas. The oldest Christian nation on earth, Armenia, is suffering an historical and cultural genocide to accompany not only the physical genocide of 1915 to 1917 but the forced expulsion of all the Armenian citizens from the territory of Artsakh, or Nagorno-Karabakh, in 2023. In every area that the Islamic nation of Azerbaijan takes from Armenia, churches, monasteries, and religious signs and symbols have been destroyed. Graveyards are desecrated. The famous Armenian khachkar’s, the decorated stone Cross so typical of Armenian culture, some from at least the 9th century, have been broken, moved, or vandalised. Following the example of their Turkish overlords, who accompanied the Armenian genocide of the last century with a similar policy of the destruction of memory and presence, the Turkic Azerbaijanis are seeking to eradicate all signs of the ancient Christian history of Armenia, present since the 4th century. It is, in fact, the prevailing policy and the absurd fantasy of the government of Azerbaijan that the very state of Armenia has never existed, which is precisely why all historical signs must be eliminated. Meanwhile, the world watches and fills the oil tanks and pays the petrodollars.

Christians, certainly both Catholic and Orthodox, flowing from their Hebrew past, have a particular concept of memory, most completely and uniquely experienced in the mystery of the Mass, or Divine Mysteries. This is the sense of the past being made present, called anamnesis; not just the idea of the past being recalled, but, in a particular way, the past being truly present by being remembered.

Although not exactly the same, the presence of hallowed structures, signs, and symbols of memory and presence, makes present the reality, as Scruton again says, of “a relationship that binds both the present and absent generations, and which depends upon the perception of a place as home.”

This matters profoundly to a people who have a deep sense of home even if, like the Armenians, they have been forced to be in the diaspora so often.

Perhaps it is less understood and actively neglected in a West increasingly forgetful of home and culture. Ruled by elites, ‘anywhere’ people as David Goodhart has described them, who actually despise place and nation, secular in thought and contemptuous of religion, especially if it is Christian. Across the West, there is a destruction of memory, a denial of the past, exemplified by the refusal to acknowledge the foundational role of Christianity in the European Constitution; there is a reason why the European Commission is probably the most secular institution in Europe. Although churches, as they rapidly empty, are not being bulldozed, or at least not many, they are being used for other purposes, increasingly as mosques in Britain.

For those of us who care, this increased denial of people and place, their history and culture, as a weapon of war, must be fought vigorously. The defence of Christian Armenia is an imperative for all who claim the name of Christian. As in the Middle East, they belong where they have always been, where they deserve to be. As Roger Scruton noted, “By bearing the imprint of former generations, a corner of the earth pleads for permanence.”

The transhumanist agenda gains steam: Brain-computer chip translates thoughts into text

Chasing Musk, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (ETHL) develops an alternative to Musk’s miniature brain-computer interface. Photo credit: Mariia Shalabaieva

Elon Musk’s company “Neuralink” has been making headlines with its so-called “human-machine interface”. Musk has been testing chips on monkeys as well as humans. The US Food and Drug Administration approved human trials in May 2023.

These chips allegedly convert brain signals into electrical impulses – and vice versa. Musk has recently nevertheless had to face a few setbacks.

Now “Neuralink” also has competition. An international team led by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (ETHL) has developed an alternative miniature brain-computer interface under the acronym MiBMI that can convert thoughts into text with great precision. According to the researchers, who presented their results in a specialist study, the tiny device could fundamentally change communication for people with severe paralysis. The chip, which is only about the size of a fingertip, can also be implanted in healthy people.

The MiBMI chip interprets brain signals generated during visualized writing and translates them into text on a screen in real time. It processes signals from up to 512 channels simultaneously, which should enable a fairly precise recording of brain activity. In tests with a person suffering from tetraplegia, the chip was able to correctly identify 90,8 percent of the visualized letters. It can also distinguish between 31 different symbols, including commands such as “space” and “backspace”.

The study authors point to the extraordinary efficiency of the MiBMI, which uses an innovative method called “distinctive neural codes” (DNCs) that achieves high accuracy with minimal power consumption. In addition, the chip only activates when there is relevant neural activity, which saves energy and improves signal quality. The current writing speed is 90 characters per minute – a significant improvement over existing aids.

The MiBMI technology could soon enable fully implantable brain-computer interfaces that do not require external devices and allow wireless communication with other devices. Sadly, nothing is yet known about its long-term safety and stability and neither about the adaptation to individual differences in brain signals.

Canadians rank Trudeau as worst prime minister since the 1960s by wide margin in new poll

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was ranked Canada’s worst leader since the 1960s in a new study.

An investigation conducted by Research Co. and released September 4 shows that 38 percent of Canadians overall said they disliked Trudeau the most compared with a list of other prime ministers.

A distant second as the most disliked was Stephen Harper, who was the former head of the Conservative Party, at 14 percent. Trudeau’s dad, Pierre, came in third at 7 percent.

Trudeau has been prime minister since 2015.

In western Canada, dislike for Trudeau was the strongest, with 55 percent of Albertans and 52 percent each in Saskatchewan and Manitoba saying they are not fond of him.

Research Co. has been tracking the popularity of current and former prime ministers for the past five years. Trudeau’s unpopularity has risen dramatically since 2022, nearly doubling since that year.

The poll was taken from feedback of 1,002 Canadians from August 19 to 21.

When it comes to who Canadians think was the best prime minister historically, Trudeau’s dad was listed as the most popular at 18 percent, followed by Harper at 16 percent.

Dislike for Trudeau and his Liberal government’s continued push of a pro-abortion and LGBT-charged agenda can also be reflected in recent polls regarding who Canadians would vote for in the next federal election.

Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre is on track to win the next federal election in a landslide. Indeed, recent polls show that the Conservatives under Poilievre would win a majority government in a landslide were an election held today. Jagmeet Singh’s National Democratic Party (NDP) and Trudeau’s Liberals would lose a massive number of seats.

Also, the likelihood of a federal election happening before next year just increased. On Wednesday, Singh announced he was pulling his official support for Trudeau’s Liberals, meaning there is now a possibility a fall election could be held should a non-confidence vote pass in the House of Commons.

As reported by LifeSiteNews, the Liberals were hoping to delay the 2025 federal election by a few days in what many see as a stunt to secure pensions for MPs who are projected to lose their seats. Approximately 80 MPs would qualify for pensions should they sit as MPs until at least October 27, 2025, which is the newly proposed election date. The election date as it stands now is set for October 20, 2025.
