The Austrian climate activists organisation Last Generation has announced it will disband over a lack of success.
The organisation has been responsible for many disruptive protests — including blocking roadways and paint attacks on objects of interest –with its activities resulting in it being put under investigation by the Austrian judiciary.
On August 6, Last Generation issued a statement announcing its members would end their protests and dissolve as an organisation, saying they “no longer see a perspective for success” as Austria’s population had opted for “fossil ignorance”.
Their remaining financial assets would be used to finance the costs of “criminalisation and investigations”, likely alluding to the group’s mounting legal issues.
Since 2021, Last Generation has launched several protests against climate change. Usually, that centres on blocking rush-hour traffic in Vienna and other Austrian cities and throwing paint at artworks.
In April 2024, the group disrupted the Vienna Marathon by throwing paint onto the track. In May, the group marched through a residential area of Vienna at 4:30 am, waking residents with bells and bullhorns.
Last Generation’s actions have generally resonated poorly with Austrians. In a 2023 poll, 75 per cent of respondents said they had no sympathy for the climate activists’ protests.
In June, three activists were jailed for about two weeks for throwing paint at a painting by Gustav Klimt. In July, Last Generation said the Ministry of Justice (led by Green Party politician Alma Zadic) had instructed the Attorney General of Vienna to prosecute it as a criminal organisation.
The Ministry denied these allegations but confirmed that investigations for some potential violations were ongoing.
Last Generation receives support from the US non-profit organisation Climate Emergency Fund, which has been bankrolled by several US millionaires including Aileen Getty, heiress to the Getty family’s wealth.
The announcement of Last Generation’s dissolution has been welcomed by many. Christian Hafenecker, Secretary General of the right-wing Freedom Party, said hundreds of thousands of commuters could now breathe a sigh of relief.
It remains unclear as to whether the group’s decision to dissolve will end protests in Austria. A group spokesperson said there would be “new projects for resistance”.
Last Generation’s German sister organisation of the same name said it will continue its efforts — which have included shutting down Frankfurt airport at the end of July.
The mother of a teenage boy who was killed in a machete attack faces fresh agony today after being told one of his killers will be released just six months into his jail term due to prison overcrowding.
Gordon Gault, 14, died in hospital six days after he was attacked with a blade during an ongoing feud in Elswick, Newcastle, in November 2022.
After a trial at Newcastle Crown Court Carlos Neto, 18, and Lawson Natty, also 18, were convicted of manslaughter and unlawful wounding.
Neto, from Manchester, was jailed for nine years and two months, while Natty, from Newcastle, was handed two years and eight months at their sentence hearings in March.
But Gordon’s mum Dionne Barrett was left devastated when she received a letter confirming Natty’s early release at the weekend.
Amid prison overcrowding the Conservatives began early releases prior to the election, with the new Labour government confirming this would continue amid a prisons crisis.
A Ministry of Justice spokesperson told MailOnline that any violent offender with a sentence under four years is eligible for early release under the scheme.
Although those convicted of sex offences and domestic abuse are exempt, other violent offenders, including killers convicted of manslaughter, can be released.
Ms Barrett said: ‘We are absolutely devastated. They rang me on Friday and said he was getting out because of the overcrowding and then they put it in writing to me.
‘Fair enough letting petty criminals out for shoplifting but he has been done for manslaughter and he has only done a few months.
‘I just cannot get my head around it. This is the same week those girls were murdered in Southport and he is getting out. What kind of example is that?’
She added: ‘We have had not justice whatsoever for Gordon.’
The trial heard that a second youth, who couldn’t be named, was slashed during the same violent confrontation but survived.
The letter said: ‘Due to significant issues within the prison population, the Lord Chancellor has announced plans to introduce a change to the law which will allow some prisoners serving determined sentence to be released on license early.
‘Prisoners who meet the criteria will be released after serving 40 per cent of their sentence in custody rather than the 50 per cent they serve now.
‘These changes are due to happen from September so no prisoner will be released under the scheme prior to that time.
‘We have been advised that Lawson Natty meets the criteria for this scheme so I’m writing to inform you that the release will be brought forward.
‘The revised release date will be in the week beginning September 9, 2024.’
The letter said Natty will be managed by the Probation Service and subject to licence conditions.
He will be required to comply with all conditions and failure to do so could result in him being sent back to prison.
The letter ended by saying: ‘I appreciate that this news will be unwelcome.’
Neto is not eligible for early release after being sentenced to more than nine years in jail.
The Ministry for Justice has been contacted for further comment.
Is there anything worse than white people? You likely wouldn’t be surprised to hear that at a dinner party thrown by leftists, especially now that they’ve ditched their rich old white guy for a rich younger woman of mixed ethnicity. Before last week, Democrats had to pretend to like white people, now they don’t. They need a distraction from the fact that she has no children, only becoming a step-mom to her husband’s children when they were nearly adults and she Attorney General, while their real mother was still around (how much parenting do you think they needed at that age or would get from someone politically ambitious with a real mom in the picture? None?)
Race and gender are all they have.
The official representative of black women, MSNBC’s resident racist Joy Reid, has declared that black women are as excited as possible over the prospect of voting for someone who panders on their race and gender when it suits their political needs. OK, maybe she doesn’t put it that way, but that’s the effect of it.
To Reid and her ilk, race is a weapon and a shield. The shield aspect is more important these days, as the weapon’s edge is about as dull as Joy’s intellect from overuse – the weapon part, not the intellect part, which presumably still has that “new intellect smell” and very, very low miles.
It’s all Joy has, which is probably why she seems so unpleasant. There are still tens and tens of people who value what Joy and MSNBC have to say; black women happy to be have any shortcomings or career stumbles they may have explained away by “societal racism,” even though Joy managed to overcome a complete lack of talent, a privileged upbringing, Ivy League education and a “hacked” blog making her a homophobe, a tough case that even the FBI wasn’t able to crack.
It has not been easy for the official Democratic Party wrangler of black people for the prevention of individual thought and asking questions. Sure, it’s a long title, but it is an important one.
Still, what about white women? The black women vote is important to Democrats, but there are a lot more white women out there; suburbanite empty-nesters devoid of meaning, single or in loveless marriages in desperate need of meaning. There are no answers at the bottom of an empty bottle of chardonnay, but they will keep asking the full ones those question anyway, just in case.
What are they to do?
It turns out the answer is easy. These racists can help Kamala win.
All the guilt they are riddled with over the tax deduction they took when buying their hybrid can be alleviated by blind obedience to the Democratic Party and acceptance of just how horrible and racist they are. For the uninitiated, “BIPOC” means “black, indigenous, and other people of color,” because anyone not “black or indigenous” can just be lumped together since there aren’t enough of them to make a difference electorally, or something.
But remember, this boob insists you can’t correct someone who is wrong if they are not white, so just put your listening ears on! I assume listening ears help you hear with your head up your ass. I looked it up and she’s married to an Indian man – which I’m sure she thinks imbues her with special empathy or something – and must defer to him on all matters or else she’s a racist, right?
Honestly, these people are beyond stupid, they’re evil. They know what they’re doing and do it anyway, either for a sense of superiority or because they hate themselves. I think they need for former, but really should suffer from the latter because that’s how I feel about them.
Liberal white women are the worst. Their existence is devoid of meaning, they have no original thoughts and seemingly only care about abortion (likely to try to normalize something they did that haunts them but they’ll never admit) and race, which is weird because the largest killer of black people in the country is abortion, right before the Godawful policies of the Democratic Party and other black people subjected to them. As evil as white women are, they don’t crack the top 10.
Of course, for that to matter, liberal white women would need to actually care about black people, not just view them as a means to an electoral end. They don’t. They’ve very progressive in the abstract, but will watch with an eagle eye through a crack in their drapes anyone darker than a 3-day tan who happens to walk down their street. What an incredible rampage! A Jordanian ( aged 44) deliberately ran over several people in Cologne’s historic city centre on Monday evening, injuring some of them seriously! According to witnesses, the taxi driver from Velbert sped his car into the “Kleine Budengasse” shortly after 10 p.m. – there he hit two women (22, 23) head-on who were just about to go to the Alter Markt. But that didn’t stop the man’s rampage: he then sped off in the car towards the Rhine, where he hit three more women. He hit two of them, one woman was able to avoid being hit by jumping to the side.
A waiter ( aged 34) from the brewery in front of which the crime took place (photo) became a courageous hero. The police said: “He took up the chase on foot.” And put himself in great danger in the process: the taxi had come towards him on “Große Neugasse” – the driver had driven towards him without braking. Despite jumping to the side, a wing mirror hit his upper body. In the end, the waiter managed to detain the driver, who had got out of the vehicle at Alter Markt, until the police arrived.
The man’s rampage probably started an hour earlier: at around 9 pm, the same taxi had already hit a woman ( aged 50) turning right in Essen. The pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries. “This case is now also being investigated by the Cologne police. Whether it is the same driver is still the subject of the police investigation,” according to a statement. As the man was presumably under the influence of cocaine and cannabis and cocaine was also found in the vehicle, police officers ordered a blood test. After a medical examination, the emergency doctor admitted the arrested suspect to a psychiatric clinic. The police are asking witnesses to the incidents to contact the police by calling 0221/2290.
The anti-mass migration riots in Britain should be treated like terrorism, the UK’s former head of Counter Terrorism Policing has declared.
Anil Kanti “Neil” Basu, who served as the top counter-terror police officer from 2018 and 2021, said that some of the violence seen over the past week in the United Kingdom in response to the killing of three young girls and mass migration more broadly has “crossed the line into terrorism.”
“I think we have seen serious acts of violence designed to cause terror to a section of our community,” he told the BBC.
Basu, who defended the violent Black Lives Matter uprising in 2020 as “legitimate anger,” added that his successors should look “very closely” at the definition of terrorism when prosecuting those involved in riots now.
The former Counter Terrorism Policing chief also argued that social media companies and users should be held culpable for the outbreak of violence on the streets and suggested that laws should be made more stringent.
Basu, who, during the Chinese coronavirus crisis, called for those spreading anti-vaccine “misinformation” to be punished, singled out anti-grooming gang activist Tommy Robinson for allegedly stoking the riots in England, despite having left the country prior to their outbreak.
Basu said that Robinson has been able to “inflame and toxify debates and create the kind of mayhem we’re seeing” while not actually breaking any laws, so therefore the laws should be changed.
“If he is not crossing a legal threshold, then the government and society need to consider if that threshold is in the wrong place,” he said.
In contrast to Basu’s comparisons of riots to terrorism, former Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson urged the authorities to tone down the heated rhetoric.
“‘Standing army’, ‘ramping up the CJS (Criminal Justice System)’ and ‘full force of the law’ – I rather think communities expect the full force of the law to be used against thugs irrespective of who’s motivating them,” he said.
Stephenson noted, however, that the full force of the law must be applied evenly, including “all the thugs who mistakenly use fictitious banners of protecting communities to come out and cause damage,” in reference to the gangs of Muslim vigilantes roaming the streets over the past week.
Sir Paul also specifically criticised the use of the term “far-right” to characterise the rioters, most of whom come from deep Labour Party strongholds in the country.
“This is the ugly face of racism, racism isn’t confined to left or right… Most of the thugs involved in this couldn’t spell right or left, let alone think politically,” he said.
Teenagers in Germany are being taught that schools in the United States are “still divided by skin colour” .
The Access 10 Bayern schoolbook, designed for secondary-level education in Bavaria, shows that pupils in the State are being educated with sometimes controversial information on issues such as race, gender ideology and national identity.
One section of the book focuses on the experience of African Americans in the US.
In one passage, it is claimed that black children and teenagers are still de facto segregated from their white peers in school.

“Aren’t black people interested in music? When I asked my host family this absurd question, my host mother said that it would be a shame for the African-American kids, but that I, on the other hand, could be happy,” the passage read.
“Without them, at least there wouldn’t be any trouble in the group. I heard such statements again and again during my year in South Carolina, from people who were completely convinced they were not racist.”
Pupils reading the book are asked to answer the following questions: “Do you see the USA as a racist society? Do you think African-American students and others are treated equally?”

Other sections of the book heap praise on the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement, crediting it for helping remove former-president Donald Trump from the White House.
According to Access 10 Bayern, the BLM movement “used voting power to change the direction of the presidential election of 2020”.
It also said the group’s protests were one of the reasons the US justice system convicted an officer of murdering George Floyd. The African American man died as he was arrested by Derek Chauvin, a white policeman in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 2020.
“Partly because of the mass protests throughout the country and all over the world following his murder, the offending police officer was convicted of murder,” the book stated.
The section of the book dedicated to black America includes passages detailing African American culture and teaches German pupils about the differences between Anglo-American English and African American Vernacular English (AAVE).
The publication drew controversy online in July over its apparent promotion of “gender ideology”.

One section titled “How Do You become You?” includes content promoting transgenderism.
“Gender identity refers to a person’s deeply felt, internal and individual experience of gender, which may or may not correspond to the person’s designated sex at birth,” one page read, before insisting: “There are many gender identities besides male and female”.
The book goes on to detail the story of transgender US YouTuber Jazz Jennings — who was diagnosed with “gender dysphoria” at four years of age — as well as that of actor Elliot — formerly Ellen — Page.
It discusses the experiences of a Polynesian sportsperson who identifies as “fa’afafine“, a gender identity that exists within Samoan culture. Another section briefly discusses the prevalence of “non-binary characters in film”.
The text dedicated one of its three sections to discussing the history and culture of Scotland, with emphasis placed on its various efforts to gain independence from the UK.
One text in this section, titled: “Scotland: The Road to Independence“, detailed the country’s various independence struggles up to and including the 2014 referendum.
Another included an excerpt from a novel that detailed the fictional account of a medieval Scottish princess and her violent mistreatment at the hands of the English.
While room was set aside to explain the arguments some Scots had to stay a part of the UK, these passages were shorter than the pro-independence parts.
The section detailing the results of the failed 2014 referendum also emphasised that a majority of young people in the country voted in favour of leaving the UK.
That was followed by a section discussing how important it was to take the views of young people seriously, with one statement emphasising that a “huge number of young Scottish people voted for independence”.
“71% of us voted YES. 71% is a serious majority!” another read, with the next one reading: “Isn’t it time to hear what we have to say about our own future?”
Later in the section, students are asked to draw comparisons between Scotland and Bavaria and the latter’s “political, cultural or historical uniqueness and its relationship to the rest of the German Federation”.
Of all the German States, Bavaria has the strongest separatist movement. While secession has been deemed illegal under Germany’s Basic Law, one poll in 2017 found that almost one-third of the State’s residents backed independence.
One further section mentions the international climate protest movement Fridays for Future, as well as some of the damage leaving the European Union has allegedly done to the UK.
In response to a Brussels Signal request for comment, Access 10 Bayern publisher Cornelsen said the schoolbook was in keeping with the criteria set out by Bavaria’s education ministry.
“Cornelsen complies with the curriculum guidelines and the criteria of the accreditation procedure when producing its textbooks,” it said.
“The topics specified by the federal State are taught using current examples that reflect society.
“The immediate living environment of the pupils (in this case the pupils of the federal state of Bavaria) is also taken into account,” it added.
Violent protests across Britain—triggered by the killing of three young girls and injury to eight other children and two adults in a violent knife attack in Southport last week—have prompted the newly installed Labour prime minister to consider a range of authoritarian measures.
After Monday’s emergency (‘Cobra’) meeting, Starmer told the media that he was considering additional measures, including the creation of a “standing army” of specialist law enforcement officers able to be deployed across the UK, ramp up criminal justice, and identifying and naming participants in protests as quickly as possible. Criminal law applies online as well as offline, the PM said, “and I am assured that’s the approach that is being taken.” He added,
This is not protest. It is pure violence, and we will not tolerate attacks on mosques or our Muslim communities, so the full force of the law will be visited on all those who are identified as having taken part in these activities.
Sir Keir Starmer announced on Thursday last week that the authorities are looking into how they can “deploy facial recognition technology … more widely across the country.” Civil liberties campaigners have long criticised the rolling out of facial recognition surveillance cameras, which take ‘faceprints’ of millions of people. The Big Brother Watch campaigning organisation said today, on August 5th, that “these are the surveillance tactics of China and Russia and Starmer seems ignorant of the civil liberties implications.”

There has also been much discussion over the weekend about the possibility of proscribing the English Defence League—which voices both on the Right and the Left agree has effectively ceased to exist—as terrorist, and about how social media companies can ‘do more’ to ‘tackle’ ‘disinformation.’
Academy of Ideas director Baroness (Claire) Fox responded to Starmer’s statements by claiming “the only [presented] solutions to the horrifying events in Southport are more bans and censorship [which] is more likely to fuel new depths of anger and resentment—far more than any hard-right memes.”

Writing in Spiked Online, Tom Slater added that “the direction of travel is undeniable.”

More than 100 arrests were made at one protest alone in Whitehall—the home of the British government—on Wednesday. Over the weekend, a hotel used to house asylum seekers in Rotherham, in South Yorkshire, was set ablaze, and another was targeted in Tamworth, Staffordshire.
The Daily Telegraph also reports that in Bolton, Greater Manchester, “Muslim groups shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ clashed with far-Right rioters.”
In a press conference on Thursday, the content of which was effectively echoed by another on Monday, Starmer said that the “immediate challenge” was “clearly driven by far-right hatred.” Upon leaving the Cobra meeting held prior to Monday’s PR event, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley damaged a journalist’s microphone when questioned about ‘two tier policing’—a much tougher approach to working class protesters than, say, ‘pro-Palestine’ marchers, or, for that matter, Black Lives Matter protests, to which Starmer took a completely different attitude
Reform UK leader Nigel Farage responded that simply blaming the ‘far-right’ ‘doesn’t work”—that “the far-right are a reaction to fear, to discomfort, to unease that is out there, shared by tens of millions of people.” He added that more attention also needs to be paid to broader “societal decline” and the “breaking down” of law and order.

Unlike many competitions of the past, I have watched very little of the Olympics this year because I will not reward broadcasting stations with my viewership that would in any way count in their ratings. This is my boycott. I am not boycotting the athletes — they deserve their places there, competing against fellow international athletes (of the same gender, where appropriate), and to show their talent on the world stage. I am boycotting NBC and any other live media outlet that can report back to the IOC how many people are watching. Athletes like those fighting for their medals at the Olympics would do so without any media coverage at all, because that’s just who true athletes are. They are not actors that feed on a fawning audience.
I am an athlete myself, having competed in mountain bike racing for several years before moving on to triathlon. I completed a half Ironman a few years ago before other health issues have affected my endurance, but I still participate in all the disciplines of the sport.
Mountain biking and triathlon are private sports; once you leave the start line, there’s usually nobody out there cheering your every move as in baseball or football. Therefore, neither are really spectator sports.
Which brings me to the triathlon competition in Paris. Why in the bloody hell did they decide swimming in the Seine was a good idea? France spent $1.5 billion in an attempt to clean up this sewer just so a few athletes could swim in it, and they failed. The Seine is quite literally a sewer. You can’t clean up a sewer. If they wanted to improve the water quality with $1.5 billion invested, fine. But leave the Olympic athletes out of it.

Claire Michel of Belgium competed in the women’s triathlon Wednesday, fell ill, and was hospitalized on Sunday. She was forced to withdraw. Adrien Briffod of Switzerland, who also competed in the Seine on Wednesday, fell ill with a stomach infection. Norwegian triathlete Vetle Bergsvik Thorn and Canadian triathlete Tyler Mislawchuk also became sick after competing in the men’s triathlon.
Belgian Triathlete Jolien Vermeylen said she drank a lot of water from the Seine while swimming in it, so she’d have to wait and see whether it made her sick. She said that when swimming under a bridge in the river she ‘felt and saw things that we shouldn’t think about too much’. “The Seine has been dirty for a hundred years, so they can’t say that the safety of the athletes is a priority. That’s bulls**t!” was her verdict of the water quality.
As a triathlete myself, I am sickened by the idea that Paris wanted to showcase their vain attempt to “clean up” the Seine to make it “safe” for swimming, at the risk of, and the expense of the health of triathletes, rather than choosing any number of nearby lakes to host this event. Perhaps French president Macron should have gotten a true taste of his own medicine before the opening of the Olympics, but alas… he did not.
