FRANCE: Trans-Identified Male Awarded 7,000 Euros For “Gender Discrimination” After Being Called By His Birth Name

A trans-identified male in the Maine-et-Loire region of France has been awarded €7,000 in compensation after a court determined he was the victim of “gender discrimination” by his former employer.

Syntia Dersoir, 22, had filed a complaint against the McDonald’s franchise where he worked after management referred to him by his legal, male name and asked him to remove the makeup he wore during his shift.

Dersoir began working at a McDonald’s located in Segré-en-Anjou Bleu beginning from September 2022. He was hired under his birth name and was legally registered as a male at the time. In early 2023, he began wearing makeup and prosthetic breasts to work, and, by the spring of 2023, he obtained an alteration of his identification documents.

Dersoir alleged that the discrimination happened over several weeks in 2023 after he began wearing his prosthetic breasts and makeup to work. Management at the McDonald’s branch where Dersoir was employed continued to refer to him by the name he had been hired under, his male name, despite his requests to be called by his feminine preferred name.

The man also alleged that management instructed other staff to also refer to him by his male name.

According to his legal complaint, Dersoir detailed that during one shift, when he was wearing lipstick, a manager asked him to leave or to go to a nearby store and purchase makeup remover. In March of 2023, Dersoir obtained a note from his doctor allowing him to take sick-leave, citing the stress he was suffering from the discrimination he had been subjected to.

Dersoir complained to the French Labour Inspectorate, and was provided a lawyer by the French Democratic Confederation of Labour (CFDT), a conglomorate of national labour unions. He also filed a criminal complaint against the management at the McDonald’s where he had been working.

In response to Dersoir’s allegations, the lawyer representing McDonald’s, Maître Pascal Landais, claimed that management had only ever asked Dersoir to follow the workplace makeup policy that applied to all staff.

“We asked him to tone down his make-up, not to remove it,” she clarified. The McDonald’s policy described that all employees should wear “light and discreet makeup” only for both uniform and hygiene purposes.

French media has run sympathetic stories on Dersoir, profiling him as a victim of discrimination. Some outlets are criticizing the managers at the fast-food chain, which uses the slogan “come as you are” in the country. One outlet suggested that Dersoir’s bosses had “trampled on” the sentiment behind the slogan and are “guilty of moral harassment and discrimination.”

On June 24, the employment tribunal of Angers ruled in Dersoir’s favor, ordering the franchise to pay him €7,000 in compensation. Dersoir’s lawyer was excited about the verdict, noting that it set a precedent and that other “victims” may now be able to come forward.

“As soon as a large brand is convicted … it necessarily provokes a discussion. This is a first to condemn McDonald’s, which presents itself from the angle of tolerance, for precisely the opposite,” the lawyer said.

Charlotte Duval, the Deputy Secretary General of the Maine-et-Loire Services Union, similarly praised the decision, stating: “This ruling is very positive … it is the recognition of [Dersoir’s] victimization. It may also open the door to other people who are experiencing this kind of situation to talk about it.”

Dersoir is in fact the second trans-identified male in Europe to take legal action against a local McDonald’s for “gender discrimination,” with the other incident occurring in Germany.

One day after Dersoir won his case, a trans-identified male in Berlin appeared at the Berlin Labor Court after filing a case against the Central Station franchise where he had been employed.

Kylie Divon, 27, is seeking compensation for “gender identity discrimination” after being denied access to the changing room reserved for female employees.

European youth have had enough of Brussels’ politics

Nosta Lgia

In Germany, France, and even Belgium, the EU election results have created internal political crises. In some countries, new parliamentary elections have been called to clarify the political values and direction that voters want their respective countries to take.

At the same time, there has been little discussion as to which demographics have turned against the liberal status quo in Brussels the most. Which social group has been the most opposed to EU bureaucracy and open borders.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, young people indicated their inability to lead a normal life within the European structure and its ideological backdrop. They simply feel that they have no future because their current lives and the conditions in which they live, which appear to be objective, are in total chaos. We are talking about a generation, people of an age who are no longer dependent but who have not yet been able to establish a stable existence of their own.

They are our children and grandchildren, not categories with an “X,” “Y” or “Z.” They are young people, “the envied age” of our elders,  but also a generation doomed to be lost in terms of Europe’s situation and future vision. Moreover, their unacceptable alphabetical designation is reminiscent of the degenerate ideology that seeks to ensure that more and more “minority” groups form the fabric of civilized societies, with the result that all forms of division within nations are exacerbated, as is already the case in the international arena.

This fact is further proof that today, subjective will is overriding necessity and the objective values of the community. Young people have clearly had enough of this, and their votes are a clear sign of it.

On June 9, they voted against it, trusting in the power of democracy and assuming that their demand for change would be understood by the officials at Brussels headquarters.

But tomorrow, when it is clear that the ladies and gentlemen who have been addressed are bureaucrats interested only and exclusively in maintaining their power, and have no regard for the interests of the people of Europe, there will be no other means left to those who want change but to blow up the increasingly petrified edifice.

The only question is whether we, the ancestors, the parents, will be offended by the efforts of our “impudent” successors, or whether we will accept that what we have done wrong, they will be able to put right, or at least try to.

Let them allow the truth to once again be the totality of objective facts, as opposed to the subjective will of those who see themselves as the chosen ones. Let them remove the vested interests that prevent normal functioning. Good work, young people!

French rappers call for the murder of Le Pen and Jews in a brutal song

X

The ten-minute rap with conspiracy theory and violent undertones was released on Monday evening and has provoked many reactions. In it, the rappers profess their “hatred” of the RN electorate and an “artistic use of violence”.

In a track published on Monday evening entitled “No pasarán”, a collective of around ten rappers, including Fianso and Akhenaton, call on people to vote in favour of the New Popular Front and against the Rassemblement National. “Come on, let’s get the bayonets out; if the left gets through, we’ll get the good plans out (sic)”.

The rappers are characterised by the use of extremely violent lyrics and insults. “Jordan you’re dead” is repeated three times in the first few seconds of the song, before “Marine and Marion” are labelled “hoes” and a plea is made for “a beating with a stick on these horny bitches”. The rappers follow up with explicit threats. “Fuck Bardella’s mum”. “If the fascists come by, I’ll make them disappear with a big calibre”. “The inside of their souls has faded, they deserve to die”. “We vote against the pigs”.

Finally, the rappers attack “Sheitanhayou” – meaning Netanyahu – and celebrate Palestine “from the Seine to the Jordan”. “The 30s and their smell are making a comeback, normal that Sheitanhayou is the white man who provides the contact”. The authors of the song condemn the fact that with “the same lyrics” they were seen as “anti-racist and pacifist” yesterday and as “anti-Semitic conspiracy theorists” today.

“You can’t call shameful statements that should outrage us all ‘pithy punchlines’,” wrote the director of the Foundation for Political Innovation, Dominique Reynié, on X. “The new new popular front. Makes you want more, doesn’t it? I hope the public prosecutor’s office will look into this abomination,” Marine Le Pen also reacted on X.

“The famous ‘pithy punchlines’: calls for murder, violent misogyny, blatant anti-Semitism and conspiracy theories. The mental universe of the extreme left is becoming increasingly toxic,” criticised Jordan Bardella. The Rassemblement National also announced that it would file a lawsuit for death threats, insults, sexist slurs and incitement to violence. The leader of the Reconquista party contented himself with replying “No restarán”.

‘Alliance of Dishonour’: Macron Backs Hard-Left to Confound Right Wing Surge

Nosta Lgia

The populist who may be the next Prime Minister of France decries the “alliance of dishonour” after President Macron said to back left wing candidates to keep the right out of power, contradicting his own claim of just days before that voting for either left or right would lead France into “civil war”.

French President Emmanuel Macron, reeling from his very substantial defeat at the French elections on Sunday and now preparing for the decider round in five days’ time says in some areas, his faction should throw its weight behind left-wing candidates to keep the right out. Justifying this enormous volte-face from his position just last week that voting for either left or right would lead to “civil war”, President Macron said: “We must make no mistake. It is the far-Right that is on its way to the highest office, no one else”.

Macron’s Prime Minister Gabriel Attal buttressed this new position, saying the rainbow coalition of left wing parties contesting the election as a bloc aren’t in a position to hold an absolute majority in the parliament, but the right-wing populists of Marine Le Pen’s Rassemblement National (National Rally, RN) are, so they should be opposed most strongly.

28-year-old Jordan Bardella, the soberly dressed RN lead candidate for these elections who would be the next Prime Minister of France if the party managed to get enough seats on Sunday, dismissed the cynical positioning of the Macron camp on Monday evening, calling it an “alliance of dishonour”. The only choices the French people now have is a majority for the left or a majority for the right, he said, stating the public should vote accordingly and disregard Macron’s views and the “unnatural alliance” suggested.

“The French are not fooled”, Bardella said, and reminded voters of the left-wing bloc that they: “comes to the aid of a violent far-left movement, which calls for insurrection, feeds an anti-Semitism atmosphere since October 7, never has words to condemn the atrocities of Hamas, and wants against all odds to organize disorder in French society.”

The question remains whether the right-wing populist RN group can actually get an outright majority. Per the projections issued after polling day — which given the complexity of the French electoral system have a very large margin for error — the party could either scrape total control of the house or fall a handful of seats short, in which case a coalition of some form would be the only way forward.

Yet the RN is short of friends in French politics, and perhaps the only party that could be persuaded to try a tie-up post-vote is the legacy Republicans, once a major force in French politics but now relegated to a desultory ten per cent and a handful of seats. And an attempt to forge a pre-election alliance between the parties in increase their chances already tore the party apart, with its legal leader Eric Ciotti now euphemistically described as “disputed” in the post as some were so furious he suggested cooperation they attempted a coup against him.

Weeks later, who has control over the party’s social media and even who has the keys to Paris headquarters is up in the air. Nevertheless, Ciotti has spoken out to express his disgust at the prospect of President Macron allying with the far-left to crush the right. He said: “The Macron-Mélenchon alliance is being written before the amazed eyes of millions of French people.”

Meanwhile, dozens of deals are being done across France on individual races. In some cases, even quite senior politicians including serving cabinet ministers are standing down to give others who scored more highly in the first round a clear run at beating Le Pen’s RN. One such case is Macronist Dominique Faure, the minister for Communities and Rural Affairs, who only came third in her constituency on Sunday and is throwing her support behind a socialist to beat the first place RN this coming weekend.

Explaining the decision, Faure said she had been asked to stand down by President Macron himself.

UK: Trainee nurse guilty of plot to launch suicide bomb attack on hospital

A trainee nurse has been found guilty of attempting to launch an ISIS-inspired suicide attack using a homemade bomb on the hospital where he worked.

Mohammad Sohail Farooq, 28, was arrested outside St James’s Hospital in Leeds with a viable bomb, manufactured from a pressure cooker containing 9.9kg of low explosive, in January 2023.

Other items, including two knives, black tape and an imitation firearm with blank ammunition, were also found on him or in his car.

Sheffield Crown Court heard he immersed himself in “extremist Islamic ideology” and went to the site to “seek his own martyrdom” through a “murderous terrorist attack”.

But his plan was thwarted by a “simple act of kindness” from a patient at the hospital who engaged him in conversation outside the building and managed to persuade him to abandon the plan.

A jury convicted him on Tuesday after deliberating for less than two hours.

It can be disclosed that police discovered Farooq had watched antisemitic videos on TikTok and had taken a photograph on his phone of a plaque which commemorated Jewish links to the hospital.

Investigations also revealed he had been carrying out a secret poison pen campaign against several colleagues after he was made to repeat a year of his course because he was regularly ringing in sick and did not pass the required exams.

Farooq had originally planned to attack RAF Menwith Hill in North Yorkshire, but switched targets after conducting a series of reconnaissance trips and finding it was too well guarded.

Prosecutors said Farooq had followed guidance in a terrorist manual titled “safety and security guidelines for lone wolf mujahedeen and small cells” to have two plans for his terrorist attack – a “Plan A”, and a “Plan B” in case the first was not possible.

However, the plot was prevented by Nathan Newby, a patient at the hospital. After returning from a walk to get some air, he saw Farooq outside the entrance to the Gledhow Wing of the hospital.

Jonathan Sandiford KC, for the prosecution, earlier told the court: “Mr Newby realised something was amiss and instead of walking away, he began talking to the defendant.

“That simple act of kindness almost certainly saved many lives that night.”

It came after Farooq had earlier sent a bomb threat in a text to an off-duty nurse in order to lure people to the car park where he was waiting to detonate his device.

However, the text was not seen for almost an hour, and the full-scale evacuation he had hoped for did not happen.

Prosecutors said Farooq left but returned shortly afterwards with a new plan to wait for a staff shift change before exploding his bomb – until he got chatting with Mr Newby.

Mr Newby told police: “I’m quite good at reading people’s body language, I don’t know why, I thought I would go over and see if he’s alright, to try and cheer him up and see why he looks like the way he did – down, depressed and upset, like he had been given some bad news, swaying backwards and forwards.”

They got chatting and for a while they had a “totally normal chat” but then Farooq unzipped the bag to show Newby the pressure cooker and wires. “He said: ‘Do you like that?’ That’s what he said. I thought wow, as if I was looking at what he said was a bomb.”

Newby moved Farooq to a bench away from the hospital entrance and, three hours later, persuaded him to let him call the police.

Afterwards Mr Newby told police: “I was shocked I had managed to talk him out of it. I reached out my hand, I gave him a hug and said mate you’ve done the right thing, to try and keep him calm.

“I thought what would have happened if I had wrestled him to the floor and he got agitated – a lot of what ifs.”

Farooq did not give evidence during his trial but admitted to police that he had made the bomb while in his car at night, parked outside Roundhay Park in Leeds.

He had earlier pleaded guilty to firearms offences, possessing an explosive substance with intent and having a document likely to be useful to a person preparing or committing an act of terrorism.

On Tuesday he was found guilty of preparing terrorist acts.

Bethan David, head of the Crown Prosecution Service‘s counter terrorism division, said: “Farooq is an extremely dangerous individual who amassed a significant amount of practical and theoretical information that enabled him to produce a viable explosive device.

“He then took that homemade explosive device to a hospital where he worked with the intention to cause serious harm.”

She added: “The extremist views Farooq holds are a threat to our society, and I am pleased the jury found him guilty of his crimes.”

German Court Prohibits AfD Members from Owning Guns

Photo: @AfD on X, 29 June 2024

An administrative court in Düsseldorf has ruled that members of the antiglobalist, anti-migration Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party cannot hold gun licences and own firearms due to a perceived risk to national security. The court decision comes at a time when violent crime is at an all-time high and AfD members are targeted more than members of other parties by political violence.

According to the court’s verdict, all members of dissident parties under investigation by the country’s Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution are considered “unreliable” under firearms law and therefore banned from possessing guns. The case was originally brought by two AfD members who claimed that revoking their gun licences was a violation of their constitutional rights.

Gun ownership in Germany is already heavily regulated under strict licensing laws, with exemptions primarily for hunting or competitive shooting.

The ruling by the Düsseldorf court may also impact the ability of AfD-aligned public servants to maintain their roles by affirming that civil servants and soldiers can be penalised “up to and including dismissal from service for supporting a non-banned but anti-constitutional party.”

The two AfD members at the centre of the trial will have to surrender their firearms and ammunition immediately to the state but can appeal the decision to a higher court.

The court decision is just the latest act of harassment against the insurgent populist party. Socialist Interior Minister Nancy Faeser is also pushing ahead with her plans to purge AfD members from the public service.

The AfD is the second-most popular party in German politics thanks to its anti-migration and antiglobalist platform. Despite this, on Monday in Munich, the party lost another legal challenge when it tried to overturn the use of undercover agents against it, and the monitoring of its communications in Bavaria.

The past few months have seen an uptick in violent attacks on AfD representatives by left-wing extremists, including the stabbing of a Mannheim-based candidate in June by left-wing activists. Last week, Antifa and other left-wing extremists teamed up with the local authorities in the city of Essen in an attempt to thwart the party’s annual congress. Two police officers were injured in street battles with the militants.

Christian youth sentenced to death in Pakistan for blasphemy, mob had attacked 20 Churches last year over the alleged blasphemy

Representational Image Source: Amar Ujala

An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan has issued a death sentence to a Christian youth, accusing him of sharing a social media post that allegedly sparked riots in Jaranwala (a city in Punjab’s Pakistan) in August last year, Dawn reported.

Dozens of Christian homes and around 20 churches were vandalised and ransacked by mobs in Jaranwala following allegations that a copy of the Holy Quran had been desecrated.

Judge Ziaullah Khan announced the verdict, also sentencing the young man to 22 years in prison and imposing a fine of (Pakistani currency) PKR 1 million, as per Dawn.

Punjab police had claimed last year that around 135 miscreants had been booked for the attacks on the minority community in Jaranwala.

But according to advocate Akmal Bhatti, chairman of the Minorities Alliance, most of the accused had either been discharged or freed on bail. Hardly 12 people are currently facing trials, he said.

The issue of blasphemy allegations in Pakistan is highly contentious and sensitive, often resulting in serious consequences such as violence and fatalities. False accusations of blasphemy are frequently employed to settle personal scores, target religious minorities, or incite communal unrest.

These allegations frequently trigger immediate public outrage and mob violence, placing the lives of the accused and their communities in jeopardy.

According to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), there have been numerous instances of false blasphemy accusations over the years, disproportionately affecting minority communities like Christians and Ahmadi Muslims.

Several incidents have resulted in lethal violence against individuals accused of blasphemy or their communities. For instance, in 2014, a Christian couple in Kot Radha Kishan was lynched and burned alive following allegations of blasphemy. Similarly, in 2021, a Sri Lankan national faced a similar fate in Sialkot due to accusations of blasphemy.

Blasphemy cases in Pakistan often unfold in an environment of fear and intimidation, with insufficient legal safeguards for the accused.
International human rights organizations have repeatedly highlighted concerns about the misuse of blasphemy laws and the absence of due process in Pakistan.

Despite both international pressure and domestic advocacy, the Pakistani government has faced criticism for its failure to amend or repeal blasphemy laws.

Archaeologists Unearth Ancient Moses Relief in Austrian Church

Archaeologists have unearthed a highly significant religious relic in Austria, adorned with Christian motifs. This extraordinary find, discovered within a marble shrine of an early church, features an ivory box dating back 1,500 years.
The box is intricately carved with scenes including Moses receiving the Ten Commandments from God on Mount Sinai, as well as imagery of saints and the ascension of Christ.

The circular-shaped relic is a rare and valuable artifact from early Christianity, which is about 2,000 years old. Only 40 such objects have been discovered worldwide, with the last similar find occurring around 100 years ago. Gerald Grabherr, the lead archaeologist, emphasized the rarity and importance of this discovery, stating, “We know that this only happens once in an archaeologist’s life as a scientist.”

The research team from the University of Innsbruck believes the relic was crafted less than a century after Roman Emperor Constantine the Great legalised Christianity with the Edict of Milan in 313 AD. This timeline suggests it was created during a transformative period when Emperor Theodosius declared Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire in 380 AD.

The discovery was made at an excavation site of an early Christian church in the municipality of Irschen, southern Austria. This region, once part of the Roman Empire, likely hosted a pagan sanctuary before being converted into a church.

While excavating a pit-like depression where an altar once stood, the team uncovered a sealing stone. Upon removing it, they found a white marble box containing the broken ivory relic. Despite its fragmented state, the box, originally fashioned with metal and wood, remains a significant find.

The box’s carvings depict bearded men in long robes, representing scenes from both the Old and New Testaments. While the team hypothesizes that the figures include Moses and Christ, the exact interpretations remain uncertain. One carving possibly shows Moses receiving the laws from God or parting the Red Sea, while another might depict Jesus’ resurrection.

Dr. Barbara Kainrath, involved in the research, noted, “The head is turned in a different direction and with this representation, we can grab [God] handing over the law to Moses. A second scene that we can address well is the figure being pulled up again by a hand that sticks out of the cloud, which is the hand of God again. And here we are dealing with an ascension.”

The box, likely crafted in a major urban center such as Alexandria, Ravenna, or Aquileia, was not made locally due to the lack of necessary materials. Dr. Ulrike Tochterle speculated on its condition, suggesting, “Either the pyx was already in a destroyed, broken state in the marble cube, or someone was tampering with it.”

The ancient church, about 60 feet long with a marble threshold, also featured burials to the south and west. The remains of several individuals, believed to belong to the social upper class, have been recovered and are being examined at the Natural History Museum in Vienna. Researchers estimate that 200 to 300 people lived in the area during late antiquity, between the 3rd and 7th centuries AD.
