On Sunday evening, June 9, after the European elections and while the ballots were being counted, a man entered a polling station in Cholet, Maine-et-Loire, armed with three 20 to 30 cm knives, a police source told Valeurs actuelles. The person shouted ‘Allah Akbar’ three times. According to Ouest-France, he is also said to have made death threats. However, there were no injuries. Although he managed to leave the crime scene, he was arrested shortly afterwards by the police outside the town hall. The 43-year-old man, who already had a criminal record, had mental health problems and had just been released from hospital. The man was already known to the police because he was carrying a knife. He was taken into police custody.
‘I would like to praise the aplomb and nerve of the municipal police officers who arrested a person carrying three knives on the forecourt of the town hall last night, who had previously tried to enter a polling station,’ said the mayor of Cholet, Gilles Bourdouleix, on X. ‘Fortunately, we were able to prevent the worst,’ he added.
On Monday, in a milestone in Irish politics, the first-ever candidate for the Irish Freedom Party (IFP), Glen Moore, was elected to the Dublin County Council.

Pope Francis to meet with pro-abortion comedians LifeSiteNews
Pope Francis will meet with prominent comedians, including pro-abortion Stephen Colbert, Whoopi Goldberg, and Jimmy Fallon, next Friday in an event that will also feature LGBT activist Jesuit Fr. James Martin.
On Saturday, the Vatican announced the event will take place in the Apostolic Palace on June 14 at 8:30 a.m. The meeting “aims to establish a link between the Catholic Church & comic artists.”
The Vatican highlighted Francis’ words from a 2016 TV interview with the Catholic Italian channel TV2000 in its announcement. “A sense of humor is a grace that I ask for every day, and I pray that beautiful prayer of St. Thomas More: ‘Give me, Lord, a sense of humor,’ that I know how to laugh at a joke … it’s beautiful, that prayer, isn’t it?” he said. “It is a human attitude, but it is the closest to God’s grace.”
The event is co-organized by the Dicastery for Culture and Education and the Dicastery for Communication.
The list of 105 comics from 15 countries includes well-known names from the U.S. entertainment industry, including Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Whoopi Goldberg, Conan O’Brien, and Chris Rock. Heterodox Father Martin, who was formerly dubbed the “chaplain” of Stephen Colbert’s vulgar, left-wing “The Colbert Report” is also slated to attend and was listed as an “artist” by Vatican News.
Most of these prominent U.S. comedians are known to be pro-abortion and pro-LGBT. Colbert, a self-professed Catholic, strongly supports so-called “homosexual marriage” and abortion in clear violation of Catholic teaching, promoted a Netflix series that sexualized children, and mocked Jesus. Whoopi Goldberg, with whom Francis already met in October 2023, also promotes abortion and LGBT ideology and claimed that killing babies in the womb is “not mentioned” in the Ten Commandments. In a recent comedy skit, Chris Rock admitted that abortion kills a baby, but said that he believes women “should have the right to kill babies.” Fallon has criticized pro-life policies on his late-night show.
Another U.S. “artist” invited to the Vatican event is Tig Notaro, a lesbian in a same-sex “marriage” who obtained twin sons with her “wife” through in vitro fertilization and surrogacy, which the Catholic Church condemns as gravely immoral. The Vatican has also invited comedian Jim Gaffigan, who presents himself as a faithful Catholic but took his young children to New York’s LGBT “pride parade” in 2017.
Francis has signaled his support of Fr. Martin in many ways despite the latter’s promotion of homosexuality, most recently by writing the preface to Martin’s latest book. The pope also appointed and reappointed him as a Vatican Communications consultant and met with Martin multiple times, praising his pro-LGBT initiatives.
Norway’s most influential trans activist physician has officially lost his ability to practice “gender medicine” after his last-ditch appeal to reverse the revocation was denied. Esben “Esther Pirelli” Benestad, 74, was first struck off completely by the Norwegian Health Authority (NHA) in 2022, and has been fighting the decision since. Last year, he won an easing of his restrictions, but will still no longer be allowed to prescribe cross-sex hormones.
Benestad, who was born male but identifies as a “woman,” prompted backlash after privately supplying minors with puberty-halting drugs and cross-sex hormones without proper approval. His medical license was restricted last year following the third formal investigation into his practice.
Benestad, who was previously investigated twice by the NHA for disregarding recommended safe practice policies in his medical treatment of minors at his Grimstad clinic, was declared by the NHA in 2023 to be “unfit to practice responsibly due to a substantial lack of professional insight, irresponsible activity, and substantial breaches of duty.”
When first ordering the investigation in 2022, the State Administrator in Agder concluded that there had been a breach of the health legislation’s requirements for duty to provide information to health authorities and a lack of sufficient record keeping.

As a result of the investigation, Benestad’s medical license was revoked. However, in June 2023, health authorities softened their ruling and instead restricted only Benestad’s permission to prescribe hormones, while also requiring him to practice medicine under supervision.
In the 42-page report issued by the NHA last year and reviewed by Reduxx, inspectors highlighted Benestad’s tendency to neglect both the opinions of colleagues and nationally recommended protocols.
“The National Health Inspectorate has also assessed that you do not follow the Norwegian Health Authority’s national guidance in your treatment of patients with gender incongruence. We consider it worrying that you justify this by saying that no one else has enough expertise or resources to provide this treatment, or that they advocate a method of treatment that you do not agree with.”
On Friday, Benestad was told by the court that the Health Authority’s decision was valid, and the state was acquitted of any wrongdoing.
Speaking with Norwegian outlet VG, Benestad called the decision “absurd.”
Responding to the news that he would not have his full medical license restored, the self-accredited sexologist replied, “I have 40 years of experience in recognizing these people… It is very sad, but unfortunately not surprising. This affects parts of the population who are already discriminated against.”
The investigation which saw his medical license restricted was the third formal inquiry into Benestad’s laissez-faire attitude towards what is euphemistically called “gender-affirming care.”
Benestad had previously been scrutinized for giving puberty-halting drugs to adolescents under questionable circumstances, and for falsifying medical diagnoses in order to recommend underage girls for double mastectomies.
In 2008 Benestad was reported to national health authorities for misconduct related to three of his female patients which he had referred for mastectomies in order to affirm a chosen ‘gender identity’. In the process, Benestad fabricated diagnoses of health conditions in order to bypass medical guidelines.
The treatment of “gender incongruence” is overseen by Oslo University Hospital, or Rikshospitalet, which requires that a psychiatric assessment be undertaken prior to the implementation of medical intervention. Despite this regulation, Benestad had been repeatedly providing hormones and puberty-halting drugs to patients who were refused the medications following an assessment by professionals at Rikshospitalet.
During a November 2009 interview, the clinician discussed the incidents which prompted concern from the national health authorities. “I have had many somatic women patients who want to have their breasts removed but they don’t want neither testosterone nor genital surgery. I was able to assist three such people to remove their breasts but then I was accused of malpractice,” he said.
In 2010, the Norwegian Board of Health issued a warning which, while it did not name Benestad specifically, detailed the exact scenario media reported he had been investigated for. According to the letter, a doctor specializing in the area of transsexualism had told health services that three female patients had certain neck conditions which would be alleviated by double mastectomies.
Describing another case in which he prescribed puberty blockers to a nine-year old boy, Benestad explained that his celebrity status enabled him to find young patients. “Parents of kids who don’t perform gender the way ‘they should’ often call me because they have seen me on television. The first kid I ever met was nine years old. She was a somatic boy, she had a penis but felt like a girl,” he explained.

“I worked with her and her family, with her school and with everyone that could be disturbed by her. At the time I was aware of work being done in The Netherlands that taught me that you can postpone puberty in cases like hers, to give kids more time to establish what gender they identify with more. I did that, but I was turned in by the G.I.D. Clinic psychiatrist who said that this was the wrong medical treatment and that additionally I had another malpractice case pending with the Norwegian health authority.”
During the same interview, Benestad boasted that he could not be put in jail, saying, “I have to face the health authorities not the legal authorities. They would not send me to jail. They would have problems finding what jail to put me in anyway.” Laughing, he joked that any prison cell built for him would need “a nice wardrobe and lots of big mirrors.”
In 2021 it was revealed that Benestad had circumvented national protocols in his treatment of a teenager who went on to die by suicide. While on puberty blockers, the teen was also privately being administered hormones by Benestad, thereby undermining the NBTK’s policy banning cross-sex hormones for minors under the age of 16.

Over the years Benestad has made numerous alarming statements in defense of pathological sexual behaviors, and has appeared to display sympathy for pedophilia.
Prior to working with children and individuals in the capacity of medical transition, Benestad was treating child sexual abusers, whom he has referred to as “pedosexuals,” while insisting that pedophilia is a common human trait.
“We’ve all been pedosexuals once,” Benestad told VG in 1998, and cited “prevailing taboo notions” around pedophilia as a cause for child sexual abuse.

The medical practitioner has, over the course of his career, dedicated a significant amount of energy towards destigmatizing pathological sexual fetishes, focusing on sadomasochism and transvestic cross-dressing in particular.
In December 2021, Benestad was criticized after requiring his sexology students at the University of Agder to participate in a BDSM fetish club as part of their research. Tonje Kristin Jensen, a student at the University of Agder, told the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation that she decided to forego a study trip in Oslo after receiving a letter providing a required dress code that included fetish gear on the theme of “lacquer and rubber.”
“The first time I put on a dress, I was around eight years old. I tried the dress on and it felt right. I always chose to stay home. I tried on all my mother’s clothes. Over time the cross-dressing became erotic in nature. I had my first orgasm in such a situation. I had trouble getting mom’s underwear clean. I washed it, used the iron to dry it and put it back in place,” he said.
Benestad’s membership with the leading transgender medical organization WPATH is no longer listed publicly on the site.
Until his license was restricted last year, Benestad was listed as a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). The gender clinician has also spoken at and attended conferences hosted by WPATH and has exerted influence on their policies.
Benestad was present at a WPATH conference held in June of 2009 where academics involved in a pedophilic and sadomasochistic fetish forum presented a concept of a “eunuch” gender identity. The concept would later be incorporated into the most recent WPATH Standards of Care guidance, and the WPATH conference and presentation by academics involved with the fetish forum appears to have influenced Benestad’s own interest in the subject.
Just five months later the WPATH conference, he brought up the topic during an interview, and would continue to reference the ‘eunuch gender’ thereafter. In an academic paper published in 2010, “From gender dysphoria to gender euphoria: An assisted journey,” Benestad cites the Eunuch Archive forum, which hosts castration fetish erotica – of which the most popular stories involve violent, forcible castration of children, primarily boys.

In a 2016 video, aimed at young viewers and aired by national broadcasting service NRK, Benestad discusses his belief in seven different ‘genders,’ naming one such category as ‘eunuch.’
“Eunuch gender… They have male bodies. But they want to remove their testicles,” he asserted.
Despite the restriction on his medical license and repeated investigations into his practices, Benestad continues to lecture students through the Department of Psychosocial Health at the University of Agder. In December 2023, he presented a lecture on “Gender Excitement.”
Additionally, both Benestad and his partner Elsa Almås are currently listed as members of the Advisory Committee for multinational sexology activist group the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS). WAS, formerly known as the World Association for Sexology, of which WPATH is a member organization, influences the World Health Organization (WHO).
Hungarian ruling party Fidesz scored another resounding victory in the European elections on Sunday, continuing its uninterrupted series of wins in national, local, and EU elections dating back to 2009. The conservative party, led by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, received 44.7% of the votes, and 11 of the 21 seats allocated to Hungary in the European Parliament (EP).

Though the percentage of the vote was not as high as five years ago, when Fidesz finished with 52.6%, high voter turnout meant that the party got almost 200,000 more votes than last time.
Referring to the results, Viktor Orbán said voters backed his government’s pro-peace policy. Fidesz had been campaigning on an anti-war platform, urging the EU to stop sending weapons to Ukraine and start focusing on peace talks instead, emphasising that the war was harming the EU’s economy. He also vowed that his government would represent an anti-immigration, anti-gender ideology and an anti-federalist stance at the EU level. “To sum up the results of the European elections, we can send it as a telegram to Brussels as the following: Migration, stop. Gender, stop. War, stop. Soros, stop. Brussels, stop,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Hungarian opposition went through a complete transformation with the arrival of a new political actor on the scene. Péter Magyar’s Respect and Freedom party (Tisza) was formed only a few months ago, yet managed to get 29.7% of the votes, and 7 seats in the EP. Magyar is the ex-husband of former Fidesz Justice Minister Judit Varga. He held various positions in Fidesz-era state companies and ministries but made a name for himself earlier this year when he started criticising and accusing the government of corruption. He emerged into the limelight following a decision by then-President Novák Katalin to pardon a man convicted of covering up child sexual abuse. Novák left office after calls for her to resign by both government and opposition supporters.
Péter Magyar has positioned himself as a centrist, attempting to differentiate himself from both Fidesz and the Left. His policies are still shrouded in mystery as he has voiced opinions similar to those of both the government and the left-wing opposition. “The Tisza Party will prove to the Hungarian voters that politics can be beautiful, just, and honest,” he said on Sunday night.
Reflecting on Western media coverage of Viktor Orbán’s supposedly ‘bad’ results, Hungarian conservative weekly Mandiner wrote:
Fidesz did not achieve its “weakest ever result,” but its most valuable EP victory ever: during a time of war, in a difficult international environment, after two painful years for the Hungarian economy, and in the shadow of a scandal that cut right into the hearts of right-wing voters.
Other opposition parties were obliterated by Péter Magyar: the left-wing political alliance formed around previous prime minister Ferenc Gyurcsány managed to get only 2 seats (down from 4) in the European Parliament, and one seat went to the right-wing eurosceptic Our Homeland Movement.
“Today we defeated the old opposition and the new opposition, and it doesn’t matter what the current opposition is called, we will defeat it again and again,” said Viktor Orbán.
As left-wing commentator András Hont wrote in a Facebook post:
The Hungarian Left has been wiped out, and a new opposition electorate has been formed: one that votes against Orbán by first voting against the official opposition.
With regards to future ally-building in the European Parliament, the prime minister’s party is currently without a group in the EP, after leaving the centre-right European People’s Party (EPP) in 2021 due to the EPP’s shift to the Left. Fidesz will likely join the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR), a group that includes Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s Brothers of Italy and the Polish Law and Justice (PiS). Orbán recently said he would welcome a merger of the ECR and the Identity and Democracy group, led by Marine Le Pen’s National Rally. At the same time, the Tisza Party could be on the verge of joining the EPP.
Hungary also held mayoral and local elections on Sunday, and the result was a familiar sight: Fidesz won big in rural areas and many smaller cities but the opposition had a majority in the capital, Budapest. However, the Budapest mayoral election itself is tight: only 300 votes separate incumbent left-wing Mayor Gergely Karácsony and his rival, Dávid Vitézy, a former Fidesz state secretary, who ran as an independent. The ballots in Budapest may have to be recounted.

On Monday, 10th June, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, responded to Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau’s congratulatory message four days after it was initially sent. The timeline of the response by the Indian Prime Minister underscored the ongoing political tensions between India and Canada as PM Justin Trudeau is the only world leader who got a response after a four-day gap. PM Modi responded to other world leaders within a day, even Pakistani PM got a reponse within five hours.
PM Trudeau, in his message on 6th June, congratulated PM Modi on his electoral victory and mentioned Canada’s readiness to work with India. He highlighted themes including human rights, diversity and the “rule of law”. Trudeau’s statement read, “Congratulations to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his electoral victory. Canada stands ready to work with his government to advance the relationship between our nations’ peoples—anchored to human rights, diversity, and the rule of law.”

The exchange between the two leaders came amidst the backdrop of strained relations between the two countries. Canada is well known for meddling in India’s affairs. Before October 2023, there were a disproportionately large number of Canadian diplomats who were living in India raising questions over their intentions. Notably, from time to time, Canada tried to interfere in internal matters of India. For example, during farmer protests, not only Justin Trudeau, but other Canadian leaders, some of them pro-Khalistanis, tried to lecture India on how to handle protesters.
Furthermore, Canada has accused India of killing Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil. Nijjar had fled India in the 1990s on a false identity. He gained Canadian citizenship a few years back. Notably, reports suggest that Nijjar died as a result of a gang war. However, Justin Trudeau in September accused Indian agents of being behind his murder. Following the allegations, a top Indian diplomat was removed by the Canadian government leading to a serious political scuffle between the two countries.
In retaliation, India not only removed a top Canadian diplomat but also gave an ultimatum to several Canadian diplomats to leave India in October. India has raised the problem of gangsters, criminals and terrorists wanted in India taking shelter in Canada but the Canadian authorities have failed to act on it. The tension between India and Canada has affected Canada much more compared to India as the number of students taking admission in Canada has significantly dropped. Furthermore, India was one of the largest importers of Canadian agriculture products which has faced problems since the allegations against India were raised.

Right wing parties gained ground in Sunday’s national elections in Belgium, largely at the expense of left wing and green parties, prompting the liberal coalitionPrime Minister to fall on his sword and announce he will resign.
Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo will resign, he said, reflecting on the poor performance of his governing coalition in the country’s ‘Super Sunday’ election which saw residents vote for their new parliament as well as regional representatives, and for their new members of the European Parliament.
While Belgium didn’t experience a landslide victory, the gaining of ground by a handful of right-wing parties and the cliff-edge collapse of the country’s two Green parties has been enough to shift the electoral picture in the country, making the present centrist-globalist coalition untenable.
Russia hawk De Croo said on Sunday night: “For us it was a particularly difficult evening, we lost. From tomorrow, I will be a resigning Prime Minister. But the liberals [will be back].” De Croo will stay on as caretaker Prime Minister until a new government can be formed, which in Belgium can typically take an extremely long time, over a year in some previous elections.
Early results suggest the conservative-nationalist Eurosceptic New Flemish Alliance (NVA) will be the largest party in Belgium, followed closely by right wing populist Eurosceptic Vlaams Belang (VB). VB were polled to perform stronger than they did, which may take some of the wind out of their sails on election night, but nevertheless it remains Belgium’s Green parties lost 11 of the 21 seats they held yesterday and that largest parties in the country which hosts the institutions of the European Union are Eurosceptic.
De Croo may not have been a household name in Europe outside of his native Belgium, but he made ripples at times, particularly in his occasional forays into American politics. As previously reported, he particularly stood out for his belligerent rhetoric on former U.S. President Trump, warning earlier this year “If 2024 brings us ‘America First’ again, it will be more than ever ‘Europe on its own’.”
The Belgian PM also couldn’t resist getting involved in 2022, when the U.S. Supreme Court overruled Roe v. Wade. He spoke out then to intone that he was “very concerned about implications of [the US Supreme Court] decision on Roe v Wade and the signal it sends to the world. Banning abortion never leads to fewer abortions, only to more unsafe abortions.
“Belgium will continue to work with other countries to advance [Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights] everywhere.”

An East-West split has been cemented in Germany following the European Parliament elections.
While there was a shift to the political Right across the nation on June 9, a plurality of those in the former territories of West Germany opted to vote for the centre-right “Union” parties — the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Christian Social Union (CSU)
The populist-right Alternative for Germany (AfD), by contrast, became the strongest electoral force overall in the country’s formerly Communist East.

This region also saw the left-populist Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht party perform well, with the new group having already become the third-largest force in a number of the territory’s former States.
The result highlighted a growing East-West division in the country, with polls repeatedly showing that those living in the former territories of the now-defunct German Democratic Republic (GDR) have become more disillusioned with the country’s democratic system.
Speaking to Brussels Signal, East Germany expert Katja Hoyer cited this disillusionment as being at the core of the East-West split in the European elections.
“I think the answer is that the Union struggled to pick up discontented voters,” she said.
“Those fed up with the status quo either stayed at home or took their vote to the fringes.
“People in the East are more fed up with the establishment so more voted for new parties,” she concluded.
Some fear that the former Eastern States could soon be rendered ungovernable thanks to the AfD’s strong polling.
With several major State elections in the region set to take place in September, pundits now think it likely that mainstream parties will be forced to form dysfunctional “rainbow” coalitions to keep the AfD out of power.
