The Canadian Cancer Society ‘cervix’ debacle is proof the LGBT movement is failing

Shutterstock

When the transgender industry finally collapses, I suspect that the autopsy will show that a significant role was played by the asinine strategic decision of trans activists to tone-police charities dedicated to helping sick people.

The latest example of this manages to be both crude and incredibly insulting at the same time: the Canadian Cancer Society, run by philanthropist Andrea Seale, has formally apologized for using the term “cervix” instead of the designation demanded by the transgender movement: “front hole.”

A statement was posted to the charity’s webpage on cervical cancer under the title “words matter.”

“We recognize that many trans men and non-binary people may have mixed feelings about or feel distanced from words like ‘cervix,’” it read. “You may prefer other words, such as ‘front hole.’ We recognize the limitations of the words we’ve used while also acknowledging the need for simplicity. Another reason we use words like ‘cervix’ is to normalize the reality that men can have these body parts, too.”

There’s a lot to unpack there. Words do, in fact, matter – which is why the Canadian Cancer Society’s crimes against the English language should be noted. Men do not, in fact, have cervixes. Women who claim to be men do. There is no such thing as a “transgender man”; there is only men and women. “Non-binary,” a recently-invented designation, is an ideological term, not a biological one. To call the cervix a “front hole” is crude and dehumanizing to women, but that, of course, does not matter to trans activists.

Or, apparently, to the Canadian Cancer Society.

This is just the latest example of what has been an incredibly successful co-opting of the charity by LGBT activists. The CCS makes it clear that anyone in possession of a cervix, “regardless of gender or sexual orientation,” should get regular screenings and adds that “[i]t’s important to tell your healthcare provider if you are taking testosterone because this can cause changes to cervical tissue that can affect your test results.”

Additionally, the CCS editorializes, medical professionals “should affirm your gender and perform any tests that reduces your discomfort and any feelings of gender dysphoria you may have as much as possible.” Last year, the CCS was the receiving end of much ridicule after they advised “transgender women” – that is, men – to talk to their doctors about cervical cancer.

Men – even those who identify as women – do not have cervixes.

Fortunately, this offensive terms have gotten significant pushback. On social media, people – mostly women – have been apoplectic. An Australian campaign on cervical cancer awareness that has swapped out “cervix” for offensive terminology has gotten an extremely negative response. Amy Hamm responded to the trend in a scathing National Post editorial

Lest we forget this year’s Supreme Court of Canada ruling from Justice Sheilah Martin that suggested an appropriate term for a rape victim is a ‘person with a vagina.’ Yes, yes, the ruling still contains the word ‘woman’ – as many woke progressives fervently pointed out in attempts to downplay the absurdity of  ‘person with a vagina’ – but that is beside the point: Under zero circumstances is it kosher to demean a female, let alone a rape victim, by referring to her as though she is defined by her sex organs. We are women. Full stop. Have we lost our collective mind?

But at least the court still threw us a pittance and used the term ‘vagina.’ A phrase like ‘front hole’ doesn’t just imply men can have female organs, but that the name of the organ – the cervix – itself is offensive. Perhaps ‘brain’ should be added to the list of words now considered beyond the pale, as it seems that not everyone has one – which could be considered exclusionary.

Hamm is right – and her outrage is one example of why, ultimately, the transgender movement will lose.

French Far-Left Politician Suggests ‘Eradicating’ Right-Wing Populists

Right-wing populist politicians should be “eradicated”, a leading member of the far-left New Popular Front election alliance in France said in a supposed slip of the tongue.

Clémentine Autain has come under criticism for appearing to suggest on national television in France a preference for violence against right-wing populist politicians for Marine Le Pen’s National Rally (RN) party.

“If we could eradicate them all that would be great,” she said on broadcaster LCI as reported by the Entrevue magazine while stressing the need for a majority in the National Assembly for the leftist New Popular Front, comprised of her own leftist La France Insoumise (LFI) party, the Socialists, the green Écologistes, and the French Communist Party.

The longtime LFI member of the French National Assembly parliament and current candidate in the snap elections for the 11th constituency of Seine-Saint-Denis quickly backtracked from the apparent violent rhetoric.

“Well, eradicate them is not a good word, but if we could drastically reduce the score of the extreme right that would be wonderful,” she said.

Responding to her comments, populist right-wing Member of the European Parliament Gilbert Collard said: “No to hatred! These madmen are dangerous!”

While the left has been deeply divided over the past year in France, with fissures breaking out over Israel and the conflict in Gaza, the left-wing parties finally coalesced last week under the banner of the ‘New Popular Front’ — a reference to a similar leftist alliance in France ahead of World War II — in order to combat the supposed threat posed by the “extreme right” as Le Pen’s National Rally is on course for a victory in the snap elections called by President Macron after his defeat to Le Pen’s party in the European Parliament elections earlier this month.

Despite her apparent Freudian slip of “eradicating” her political opponents, Autain is actually seen as one of the more moderate voices in the far-left LFI party, having criticised leadership for refusing to label Hamas as a terrorist group.

The leader of La France Insoumise and the strongest voice within the New Popular Front, former presidential candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon has also come under criticism for his radical rhetoric during the campaign.

In a speech on Friday laying out his vision for the new leftist bloc within the National Assembly, Mélenchon claimed that racism is one of France’s biggest issues, and therefore said that those who consider themselves as “native French” are a threat to society.

Qatargate unravelling? Belgium leaves Moroccan suspects to be tried at home

Wikimedia Commons , Fabian.aichwald, CC-Zero

More than a year and a half into the Qatargate investigation, Belgian judicial authorities are reining in accusations against Moroccan suspects.

The move is seen as yet another setback in the cash-for-influence corruption scandal at the heart of European democracy.

Newspaper Le Soir said Belgium will leave it to Rabat to try its two nationals allegedly involved in the corruption and interference scandal in the European Parliament.

The paper suggested that a diplomatic rapprochement between Belgium and Morocco could be behind the decision.

The two Moroccans questioned in relation to the case are Abderrahim Atmoun, Morocco’s Ambassador to Poland, and Mohamed Belharache, an officer of the Moroccan Foreign Intelligence Service (DGED), according to Le Soir. Morocco’s government has denied any wrongdoing.

Panzeri has acknowledged accepting bribes worth at least €2 million from Morocco and Qatar in exchange for beneficial European Union resolutions and political favours.

Letting the Moroccan Government try a corruption case involving its administration has likely raised some eyebrows in Europe.

In May 2023, the Moroccan foreign affairs minister Nasser Bourita said the whole issue amounted to “continuous judicial and media harassment” aimed at “harming” relationships between Morocco and the EU.

Qatargate cast a long shadow over the European Parliament, implicating a Socialist vice-president, among others, and suggesting resolutions and policies were for sale.

Yet, despite the serious nature of the allegations, the investigation was quickly bogged down by procedural problems.

Francesco Giorgi, another main suspect in the scandal, on February 5 called for the entire case to be thrown out.

Giorgi produced what appeared to be a damning recording, secretly made when Ceferino Álvarez-Rodríguez, a Belgian police officer, paid him a visit in early May 2023.

In the recording, the officer seemingly complained to Giorgi that Panzeri, the alleged ringleader of the corruption circle turned key witness who by then had taken a plea-bargain deal with the Belgian police, was “lying through his teeth”.

On June 18, the judicial Indictment Chamber in Brussels is holding a new hearing regarding those audio recordings.

In January this year, Andrea Orlando, who led the Italian justice system between 2014 and 2018, questioned the methods used by Belgian investigators and justice agencies. He said he believed the case revealed a lack of “proper control”.

Initial lead investigative Belgian judge Michel Claise had to step down in June 2023 amid allegations of a conflict of interest.

He and Marie Arena, a Belgian Socialist MEP, also allegedly connected to Qatargate, have known each other for at least five years and had friendly relations. Arena was only questioned regarding the scandal months after Claise departed.

The entire Qatargate case was later put on hold after defence lawyers claimed fundamental legal procedural errors had been made. If the lawyers’ arguments are proven correct, the whole investigation could be rendered void.

Austrian government in crisis after Green minister votes for controversial EU renaturation law

FPÖ Federal Party Chairman Herbert Kickl. (Photo: FPÖ)

Following their approval of the EU Nature Restoration Law, Austria’s government has been thrown into crisis, with the two parties leading the nation, the center-right Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) and the Greens, potentially seeing their coalition government collapse.

Supporters of the new renaturation act say it will help clean up Europe’s rivers and moors in order to restore them to their natural state, while detractors say it will harm farmers and threaten the continent’s food supply. The law was passed by the EU’s environment ministers, with the Austrian climate protection minister, Leonore Gewessler, providing the decisive vote for it to pass.

Now, the conservatives want to sue their own climate minister, with the ÖVP saying they will file charges for abuse of office, according to ÖVP General Secretary Christian Stocker.

“Leonore Gewessler is placing herself above the constitution because she cannot reconcile her green ideology with acting in accordance with the law,” said Stocker.

Gewessler took her vote in clear opposition to Chancellor Karl Nehammer, who leads the conservatives in the Austrian government coalition.

The right-wing Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) is now piling the pressure on the coalition government, with party leader Herbert Kickl calling on Nehammer to fire Gewessler and saying that if he did not remove her, the FPÖ would submit a motion of no confidence to parliament.

“The proposal to the Federal President to immediately dismiss Gewessler is the least the ÖVP chancellor should do now. The real order of the day, however, would be an immediate end to this worst federal government of all time, under which the Austrians have already suffered for more than four years,” said Kickl in a statement.

Kickl has long argued that the ÖVP, which is cooperating with the Greens, is not a true conservative party. He now says that the Austrian chancellor will “once again prove himself to be completely untrustworthy, dishonest and incompetent” if he keeps Gewessler on as minister.

“This applies in particular to his plans after the National Council elections, where he is still working in the back rooms of Vienna on an unholy ‘Austro-traffic light’ with the Marxist SPÖ and the EU-fanatic Neos. These parties are not only in favor of the EU Nature Restoration Law, but also want to promote illegal mass immigration, burden people with additional taxes and make rainbow and gender ideology the dominant culture. Nehammer must therefore also rule out a coalition with these two parties,” said Kickl.

Kickl’s party landed in first place following the EU elections with record high results, and many polling experts say Kickl could be the country’s next chancellor. However, his FPÖ party would still need to strike a coalition deal to win power, and with its bad blood with ÖVP, that may prove increasingly difficult even if the two parties previously ran the country together in the past.

However, with Nehammer facing betrayal from his Green partners following the EU Renaturation Act vote, he may face additional pressure from his own voters to drop the Greens, particularly with farmers enraged over the law. Kickl is counting on this and is directly appealing to this demographic.

“With her ideology-driven arbitrary act, Gewessler has helped to introduce an EU law that means nothing less than the death of our agriculture and (the death of) the security of our population’s domestic food supply, as well as an unacceptable loss of sovereignty in favor of the centralist EU elites. In view of this dramatic dimension, it is downright ridiculous if ÖVP Chancellor Nehammer does not know how to help himself with more than pithy slogans,” said Kickl.

The FPÖ’s vote of no confidence will also be designed to split ÖVP’s politicians, many of whom may be questioning their alliance with the Greens.

“The vote on our motion of no confidence will therefore also be a question of conscience for every single ÖVP representative as to whether they will continue to build a wall against a destroyer of our security of food supply and an accelerator of farmers’ deaths,” said Kickl.

A national vote is set for Sept. 29.

For the Islamic festival of Eid? More than 20 sheep stolen from German pasture

Zeilitzheim , Wikimedia Commons , Monandowitsch, CC-BY-SA-4.0

A real upsetting for a shepherd: he found several dead sheep in his pasture and 22 animals had also disappeared. The police suspect that the animals were stolen for the Islamic festival of sacrifice.
A shepherd from the district of Schweinfurt recently made a shocking discovery: He found several of his sheep dead in a pasture near the Kolitzheim district of Zeilitzheim. There is no trace of 22 lambs.
Unknown persons are said to have entered the pasture to steal the lambs. They must have come in large vehicles to transport the animals away. As the shepherd reports, the missing lambs weigh around 50 kilograms each. During the theft, several sheep are said to have panicked, got caught in the pasture fence and died.

The police also suspect that the thefts could be linked to the Islamic festival of sacrifice, which is celebrated from the 15th to the 19th of June. Muslims celebrate this festival by honouring the tale of Ibrahim and his son Ishmael, which is told in the Koran. This story is also known in Judaism and Christianity, where Abraham is supposed to sacrifice his son Isaac.
The damage caused amounts to around 5000 euros. The investigation is ongoing.

Residents annoyed in Dresden, Germany: Hundreds of Muslims and loud calls to prayer on the banks of the river Elbe

Usually, people stroll along the banks of the river Elbe in Johannstadt and junk dealers offer their wares for sale on Saturdays. Sunday morning was a completely different picture. Hundreds of Muslims rolled out their prayer mats, celebrated and prayed by the Elbe to mark the Feast of Sacrifice. Not everyone liked the loud calls to prayer that resounded from the Albert Bridge to the “Blaues Wunder”.

Hundreds of Muslims, including those from Pakistan, Syria, Afghanistan, Jordan and Algeria, had gathered on the banks of the Elbe on Sunday morning. Marwa Elsherbiny Cultural Centre
The first shouts could be heard early in the morning – even on the other side of the Elbe. A resident (37) from Löwenstraße reported: “At half past seven, I suddenly woke up to shouts of Allahu-Akbar with the windows closed. That was strange.”

He was not alone in feeling disturbed; according to the police, there were several complaints about the volume. “We spoke to the people responsible and the loudspeakers were turned down,” said a spokesperson. But according to the resident in question, the prayer could be heard as far as the Blaues Wunder just a short time later…

This was not the only sticking point at the event, which was organised by the Marwa Elsherbiny Cultural Centre (MKEZ) association.

The head of the association, Saad Elgazar (57), is labelled a Muslim Brother by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution – and he prayed on Sunday.

According to the city, the event did not require a permit, but was checked by the Environmental Agency for noise concerns. The space was made available via a rental agreement.
Some of the participants in the celebration on the banks of the Elbe regularly pray in the association: Georg (21), for example, who converted to Islam a year ago, wears a beard and is called Junus in Arabic.

“I’ve been a believer for a year, I do all my prayers, I live according to the Koran and the Prophet. That’s why I was there today.”

At the same time, a participating Muslim woman (47) said that only a minority of the Muslims present would attend the MKEZ.
She emphasised the peacefulness of the event: “A few years ago, maybe twenty Muslims celebrated together. With the refugees, there are now more and more, which makes us happy. The celebration today was very harmonious.”

Switzerland: Drunken asylum seekers slash two goats in the street just in time for the Muslim feast of Eid

 Oberwil , Wikimedia Commons , Roland ZumbuehlCC-BY-SA-4.0

Two men stopped by the police in Zug on Monday night are suspected of having killed two goats while drunk in Oberwil ZG. According to the Zug police spokesman, evidence points to this.
Frank Kleiner, spokesman for the Zug police, confirmed an online report by the “Zuger Zeitung” newspaper on Monday evening at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency. According to the police spokesman, the emergency services were able to recover the murder weapon, a knife, at the scene.

Residents had alerted the police at around 3.30 a.m. because of two very drunk men who were apparently on the rampage in Oberwil. A patrol checked on these men and, according to Kleiner, also came across two dead goats whose bellies had been slit open.

The two heavily intoxicated men were “strongly suspected of having killed the goats”, Kleiner is quoted as saying in the report. Corresponding traces indicated this. According to the police spokesman, the suspects are two asylum seekers aged 26 and 30. Their origins were not disclosed. A possible motive is currently unknown.

UK Theaters and Drama Schools Promote Obesity

Nosta Lgia

Never mind that it is an avoidable condition virtually guaranteed to damage your health and shorten your life. Morbid obesity is promoted by the establishment, now that fat people have joined the Cultural Marxist coalition of the oppressed. The wokest sectors of society lead the way.

From the UK:

Theatres and drama schools have been offered “plus-size inclusivity training” to tackle “fatphobia” and help the industry become “more inclusive for bigger bodies”.

Ruth Anna Phillips, a “plus-size director” who runs workshops to address “anti-fat bias”, told The Stage earlier this month that “one drama school had already agreed to provide the size inclusion training for its staff.”

“Inclusion training” is what we used to call “political indoctrination.” Those who undergo it are instructed as to what they are required to believe — or at the very least, pretend to believe.

Lock your refrigerator; here comes the Malcolm X of the body positivity movement:

Ms Phillips is co-founder of Inclusion Collective, an organisation that provides training in “creative wellbeing”, “body positivity” and “inclusive movement”, among other areas. Her website contains resources on “fat activism” – “advocacy for the rights and dignity of fat people, combating discrimination” and “the body consciousness scale”, among other materials.

As usual, the moonbattery is funded by the government:

[Arts Council England] records show [Phillips] was awarded £10,479 last year, which she used to develop her project “body acceptance and inclusion”.

If militant fat people continue to follow the game plan that secured privileged status for blacks, we will soon reach the Fat Lives Matter stage. Waddling mobs will protest their oppression by looting grocery stores.

Germany: Record 57% of asylum seekers had no ID to date in 2024

As huge numbers of migrants continue to enter Germany this year, a record number of them have no identification papers, making deporting these newcomers a near-impossible task.

So far in 2024, 57 percent of asylum seekers — up from 48 percent in 2023 — had no identification to prove their identity, their age, or their country of origin, according to data from the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF).

According to German newspaper Welt, approximately 100,000 migrants entered Germany illegally between January and May, and well over half of them had no passport or national ID.

A lack of identification offers a huge advantage to illegal migrants, as Germany is almost always unable to deport these foreigners. German authorities simply do not know their country of origin, and the countries where these migrants come from will almost never accept a citizen back if they do not have a passport.

Germany currently has 250,000 migrants it would like to deport; however, from January to April this year, only 6,300 of these migrants were actually deported.

Not fleeing war or persecution, but almost never deported

Notably, pro-migrant groups say it is easy to have a passport or ID lost in the process of fleeing war or persecution, but the data from Turkish nationals tells a different story. Only 1 out of 10 Turkish nationals are offered asylum rights in Germany by officials, The reason? The vast majority of them are not fleeing war or persecution. Despite that, 57.5 percent of Turks entering the country illegally do not have any identification papers with them.

Turks are now also the third-largest group of illegal migrants entering Germany, after Syrians and Afghans.

An official from the BAMF who spoke with Welt on the condition of anonymity said that the fact that Turkey is an “OECD and NATO member state” that has “a large number of citizens without any identity papers is absurd.” In fact, Turkey has a strict law that “every Turkish citizen is obliged to have an identity card.” Turks are also not allowed to access services or send their children to school without identification papers.

Another official who deals with deportations told Welt that the majority of Turks can “hardly report anything substantial” during asylum hearings to prove they were fleeing persecution. However, hardly any of these rejected Turks are ever deported.

“As long as we cannot present a passport to the Turkish side, nothing will happen,” said the authority.

Another federal air officer who works on the flights deporting migrants said: “I’m telling you — if we don’t pay attention to who we bring in, we will never solve this through deportations, it is incredibly complicated.”

Notably, other countries, such as Ireland, are facing the same issues, with Ryan Air CEO Michael O’Leary stating that migrants are flushing their IDs down the drain on flights inbound to Ireland.

The practice of migrants discarding IDs on their journey to Europe is commonplace and has been ongoing for nearly a decade now. As Remix News reported in 2020, there are 400,000 migrants with the birthdate of January 1 in Germany due to the fact that all of these migrants entered Germany without IDs.

Migrants also benefit from being able to state their own age, with some of them claiming to be minors when they are actually adults. These migrants are even harder to deport, and they gain access to education and social benefits not available to older migrants. When migrants are tested by medical specialists, the vast majority of cases show they are older than their stated age.

Migration has cost Germany tremendous sums of money. Academic expert and economist Prof. Bernd Raffelhüschen from the University of Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg revealed that immigrants have already cost Germany €5.8 trillion due to social welfare, housing, and other services.

Pope Francis faces UN investigation over alleged illegal wiretappings in embezzlement scandal

Pope Francis faces a U.N. investigation for allegedly authorizing illegal wiretappings of phones during the Vatican embezzlement trial linked to the sale of luxury London real estate.

The Telegraph reported on Sunday that lawyers of British financier Raffaele Mincione, who is accused of defrauding the Vatican in a London real estate deal, filed a complaint to the United Nations for alleged human rights abuses committed by the Pope during the trial.

According to the Telegraph, the complaint is addressed to the U.N. special rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers, Professor Margaret Satterthwaite, and lists the Pope as a “perpetrator” of human rights abuses.

Leading human rights lawyer Rodney Dixon, who represents Mincione, has accused Francis of personally authorizing illegal wiretaps of Mincione’s phone during investigations into the investor’s alleged wrongdoing.

“This unreasoned authorisation to prosecutors by an absolute monarch greenlit the undertaking of surveillance without the articulation of definite reasons, ongoing judicial or other independent and impartial supervision, or a mechanism by which to challenge the implementation of the surveillance before an independent and impartial tribunal,” Dixon argued.

During the Vatican embezzlement trial, which began in 2021, reports emerged that the Roman Pontiff authorized phone wiretaps during investigations into the financial scandal.

The New York Post pointed out that in April 2021 Pope Francis amended Vatican law to facilitate prosecutions for cardinals and bishops. Days later, the Pontiff reportedly ordered “the adoption of technological tools suitable for intercepting fixed and mobile devices, as well as any other communication, including electronic ones,” according to leaked documents.

Shortly thereafter, Vatican officials and Italian police officers reportedly seized Mincione’s phones and computer while the businessman was on vacation.

In December of last year, a Vatican tribunal convicted Mincione, alongside Cardinal Angelo Becciu and several other defendants, sentencing him to five-and-a-half years in prison.

In his complaint to the U.N., Dixon argued that Mincione cannot be sentenced by a Vatican court on the basis of canon law for a “secular transaction.”

“It is not appropriate for religious tenets to be imposed on the regulation of a secular transaction without the consent of those involved in the transaction,” Dixon said in the complaint.

Dixon also criticized the alleged surveillance of Mincione’s lawyers while they were in Rome for the trial in front of the Vatican tribunal. He said the lawyers seemed to be “victims of interference if not intimidation” at the “instigation” of the Vatican.

Mincione told the Telegraph:

My basic rights have been trampled on and been ignored. How can it be correct that I have been handed criminal penalties for breaches of spiritual law which only applies to members of the Church, which don’t seem to apply to anyone else that handles the Vatican’s investments, and which I didn’t know anything about?

The Telegraph report states that Mincione is appealing his conviction by the Vatican court “on the basis that he was actually cleared of the criminal offences from the original indictment and only convicted of new offences introduced at the 11th hour and based on the Vatican’s canonical – religious, not criminal – law.”

The Vatican has maintained that it acted lawfully. The Telegraph quotes a Vatican spokesperson who said, “The legitimacy of the investigations and the correspondence of the Vatican judiciary system to the principles of fair trial has been recognised by various foreign courts.”

The Vatican trial around the luxury London flat

The Vatican embezzlement trial involving Mincione, Cardinal Becciu, and other defendants chiefly centered on a Vatican property investment in London, which Becciu authorized as Substitute for General Affairs at the Vatican Secretariat of State. In 2014, Becciu bought a stake in 60 Sloane Avenue, a luxury London real estate development using charitable funds from the Vatican as collateral for loans of 200 million euros (around $260 million using conversion rates at the time) that were then funneled through a fund operated by Raffaele Mincione.

Mincione joined Becciu in the dock, was found guilty of “embezzlement” and money laundering, and was handed the same sentence of five-and-a-half years in jail, an €8,000 fine, and a permanent ban on public office.

Mincione’s company had purchased the property in 2012 and sold a stake in it to the Vatican. When the Vatican finalized its buyout in 2018 – courtesy of Becciu and Monsignor Mauro Carlino, Becciu’s former secretary – Mincione made around £128 million from the Vatican in the process.

It was these transactions that Becciu is believed to have “personally authorized” and to have kept them hidden from attention of Cardinal George Pell, then-Prefect of the Secretariat for the Economy.

As controversy and scandal grew around the property in late 2020, the Vatican initiated its own corruption investigation into Becciu’s dealings in late 2020 – by which time he was prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, and had been since 2018. Francis at this point accepted Becciu’s resignation, when the cardinal renounced his cardinal privileges, while retaining the title.

Becciu was then indicted July 2021 by the Vatican Tribunal with Mincione and eight others also indicted for corruption. Becciu was personally charged with “embezzlement and abuse of office, also in collaboration, as well as subornation.”

In July 2022, the Vatican sold the London building at the heart of the ongoing investigation, with a reported loss of $200 million, as the AP estimated the Vatican had spent around €350 million (around $359 million) in purchasing the building initially.

In December 2023, the Vatican court sentenced nine of the 10 defendants, including Mincione and Becciu, to financial penalties and jail time.

Becciu and his lawyers have maintained his innocence and claimed that Pope Francis himself had supported the London investment deal.
