Israeli father and daughter attacked in Belgium

Footage of the incidentCourtesy

An enraged pro-Palestinian mob that recognized a tourist who was walking with his daughter in the city of Bruges in Belgium brutally attacked him.

When pro-Palestinians noticed that Amnon Ohana (64) and his daughter Shira (29) were removing an anti-Israel sticker that had been pasted on a wall at the train station, they attacked the father by kicking and punching him in the face. Even after the two managed to escape to the floor below, one of the attackers continued to chase the father, knocking him to the floor and continuing to kick him. in front of the cameras. The father and daughter’s calls for help from passers-by were not answered.

After the severe attack, Ohana was taken to a local hospital where he was diagnosed with a broken jaw.

Ohana filed a complaint with the local police against the attackers, but according to him, he got the feeling that the Belgian police “doesn’t want to deal with them” even though part of the attack was recorded on security cameras.

The Chairman of the European Jewish Association (EJA) Rabbi Menachem Margolin condemned the attack and called on the Belgian police chief to bring the attackers to justice and define the attack as an anti-Semitic and racist hate crime. “It is no longer just verbal violence or spitting but real physical attacks that can end in disaster. Don’t wait for us to be murdered to understand that you must act more decisively against the troublemakers. Today it is against Jews and tomorrow the incited mob will attack anyone who looks western in their eyes” Rabbi Margolin warned and pointed out that it is impossible for a western country that claims to be a country of law like Belgium, not to act for the immediate arrest of the anti-Semitic attackers and refrain from immediate enforcement action to exhaust the full severity of the law against them.”

Visit the Canary Islands before they become the new Africa

Spaniards, accustomed to headlines boasting “record” numbers of immigrants due to Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s open-door policy, are now facing yet another unprecedented surge of African migrants, setting new records and causing issues not just for locals and the entire country, but also for tourists unaware of what might meet them during their dream vacations.

According to La Gaceta de la Iberosfera, the number of illegal immigrants arriving in the Canary Islands this year has surpassed all known records. By the end of 2023, the archipelago had received 40,000 people, and from January to April this year alone, 16,000 illegal immigrants arrived. The Interior Ministry estimates that about 70,000 more could arrive in the next eight months, potentially bringing this year’s total to over 85,000.

It is also noted that due to Spain’s far-left governing coalition, which could be defined as “Islamo-leftist,” Spain is currently the European region receiving the most illegal immigration — five times more than Cyprus, 60 percent more than Greece and nearly 25 percent more than Italy.

Mainstream media have often omitted that the face of the migration pact agreed upon during the Spanish presidency was the repeatedly compromised Interior Minister Fernando Grande Marlaska. Known for his “take it or pay” approach to solidarity, this has implications for other Europeans, including Poles.

It is noteworthy that Marlaska’s phone was twice hacked by suspected Moroccan intelligence services using Pegasus software, leading to a data loss of 7 gigabytes, marking him as one of the highest-level Spanish politicians targeted by foreign services.

Since 2022, the compliance of the Sánchez government to the Alawite regime in Morocco, including a total surrender on the issue of border protection, feeds public speculation in Spain about the prime minister being blackmailed — sadly implicating the whole country.

The ceaseless flow of refugees from Africa and the Maghreb flooding Spain, the dismantling of police units battling hashish smuggling from Morocco, and even the shift in stance on Western Sahara —effectively handing it over to Morocco — suggest potential blackmail by the Moroccan regime, which could eventually impact other EU member states.

Massive immigration to an archipelago with roughly 2.2 million residents doesn’t see newcomers staying long, as authorities relocate them deeper into Spain. However, humanitarian crises erupt occasionally, as seen on the Canary Island of El Hierro, where newcomers on the streets far outnumber the residents. Lesser, yet similar, issues occur on Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura. For now, Tenerife — popular with Poles — remains free from the occupation by illegal immigrants, but this could change within a few months.

An internal report by Frontex accessed by La Gaceta indicates that in the coming months, up to 100,000 Malians might move from northern Mali to Mauritania and then to the Canary Islands.

Thus, we might need to adapt to a new Europe, where booking holidays under the palms will depend not on weather conditions or hotel availability but on the current migration routes from Africa.

Geert Wilders represents the rescue of Europe from socialist open-borders disasters

By Barry Shaw

The drift of European countries away from the failed immigration policies of their socialist predecessors reached the Netherlands with the election of Geert Wilders as their new leader.

Wilders will lead a coalition of four parties with a clear agenda of sweeping away the disastrous results of an open border that has flooded the Netherlands with a mass migration from the Middle East. That in turn has brought lawlessness from the rising migrant count leaving the silent majority exposed to behavior that they objected to with their votes.

Wilders announced that his country is in an asylum crisis which requires stronger border controls and internal changes.

The Netherlands will opt out of the E.U. open border asylum system.

It will introduce a tougher approach to terrorism including local street terrorism. That will include deporting criminal migrants in order to make life safer for the Dutch people.

Wilders announced that he will set his country on a new course based on “Hope, Courage and National Pride.”

Geert Wilders is also a longtime friend of Israel. He has stated that he will move his country’s embassy to Jerusalem.

Majority of British Public Believes Migration Leads to More Crime

Nosta Lgia

The majority of the British public thinks that migration is correlated with a rise in crime while just three per cent believe that it results in a reduction of crime, a survey found.

Amid increasing calls for the UK government to publish data on the criminality of migrants and asylum seekers by nationality, a poll from YouGov has found that 56 per cent of the public believe that migration “usually leads to more crime”.

Conversely, just 3 per cent said migration brings down crime, while 28 per cent said that they think it “usually makes no difference” and a further 13 per cent said they were unsure.

Some of the picture can be gleaned from looking at prison statistics, which found that people professing Muslim faith and those registered as so-called BAME (Black, Asian, Minority, Ethnic) people are overrepresented in the prison population. Jail statistics also show the stark increase in the Albanian prisoner population in Britain, which over the past decade has increased from 212 in 2013 to 1,475 last year.

As of June of last year, 10,321 foreigners were incarcerated in England and Wales, representing 12 per cent of all inmates in the British prison population.

However, while the Home Office keeps records on the ethnicity of those arrested in Britain, it refuses to publish a full breakdown of crimes by nationality. The department also does not disclose to the public whether prisoners are in the country legally or if they are alleged asylum seekers.

This has led to Brexit leader Nigel Farage accusing the government of importing “mass criminality” through its open-door immigration system, which has allowed in record levels of foreigners — nearly three-quarters of a million in 2022 net — and continues to see thousands of illegals pour over the English Channel from France every month.

Former Home Secretary Suella Braverman has made similar warnings, claiming that migrants — particularly those breaking into the country illegally — are playing a key role in the “heightened levels of criminality” seen in the country.

In order to get a clearer picture of the impact of migration on crime, former Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick has called on the government to begin recording and publishing the nationality, immigration, and visa status of every convicted criminal.

The former minister has also suggested a bifurcation of the Home Office, arguing that a specific department should be tasked with controlling illegal immigration.

“We cannot hope to fix our immigration system without understanding the problem. The national debate on legal and illegal migration is hindered by a lack of data on the fiscal, economic and societal impacts of migration,” Mr Jenrick told The Telegraph in March.

“There is mounting concern that the UK is importing crime, particularly violent crime, sexual assaults and drug production. We need to have transparency so the public knows what’s happening and policy can be formulated accordingly.”

Jenrick’s remarks followed those by another Tory migration rebel, Neil O’Brien, who publicised the fact that even the limited dataset available on migration was gradually being withdrawn, leaving lawmakers and the voting public even more in the dark than usual. While the exact statistics O’Brien weren’t related to crime, but rather the financial contribution of migrants to the economy, not having access to these types of data confounds attempts to make a holistic appraisal of the benefits or otherwise of mass migration.

O’Brien praised the Kingdom of Denmark — which has some of the strictest immigration controls in Europe — for being more open with its statistics. The country, for instance, releases a full breakdown of foreign criminality to the public.

According to an analysis of official figures from the Danish government tracking crimes between 2010 and 2021, over 40 foreign nationalities were more likely on a per capita basis to commit crimes than native Danes, with migrants from Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Somalia, and Uganda topping the crime tables.

European Parliament crisis for Renew faction as Dutch Liberals join government with Geert Wilders

Valerie Hayer, French President Emanuel Macron’s head of the list for the European Parliament elections in June, found herself caught up in controversy after being photographed alongside neo-Nazis

European Liberals are in turmoil following the decision by the Dutch Liberal VVD party to join a coalition government with Geert Wilders. Group president Valérie Hayer said it is “unacceptable” to work with the “far right”.

In a message on social media, the Renew group leader stated her “total disapproval” and “strong concern” about developments in the Netherlands.

“The PVV stands opposed to everything we defend regarding values, rule of law, the economy, climate, and of course, Europe,” she said. “An agreement with this sort of party is at odds with the values we stand for.”

She continued: “Compromising with the extreme-right is unacceptable. I have always staunchly opposed it, and I will maintain that stance in the European Parliament.

“I will convene the party members of our group on June 10th.”

As this occurs just after the European elections, and given that members are now engaged in campaigning rather than formal meetings, all decisions, including the election of a new group president, will have to be postponed until after the vote.

Many within the Liberal group are dissatisfied with the Dutch coalition.

During a presentation of the agreement in the Netherlands, the president of the VVD, Dilan Yesilgöz, said his members were taking responsibility for “a stable and safe” country, highlighting the ongoing support for Ukraine and climate action.

The Renew-group co-signed a pledge on May 8, “in Defence of Democracy”, declaring it would not work with the “far-right” in Europe “at any level.”

Other signees to the pledge included the Socialists of the S&D group, the Greens and the hard-left The Left group.

In the Netherlands, the VVD party is a member of the Renew group, alongside D66 and Volt, which are much smaller.

Sophie in’t Veldt, Dutch MEP and member of Volt (Belgium) said a “real” Liberal should now leave the VVD party.

Laurent Dassen, president of the Dutch Volt Party, said coalition parties in the Netherlands had “normalised the abnormal ideas of Geert Wilders.”

He claims the country is “closing itself off” to the rest of the world via “false and populist promises without vision.”

After the coalition announcement, during the plenary debate in the Netherlands, Dassen clashed with the President of the Parliament over calling PVV “far-right”.

Rob Jette, of the Dutch left-liberal D66 party said: “This agreement is full of pipe dreams on financial quicksand”, calling it a “big mistake to cut [budgets for] education and the climate”.

Other parties on the Left also criticised the agreement. Frans Timmermans, leader of the biggest opposition group in the Netherlands, called the coalition agreement a “disaster” and likewise said it was”built on quicksand.”

Timmermans called it a “PVV cabinet” and criticised the fact that other parties “didn’t make real efforts to look for alternatives… they have put the radical Right at the centre of power.”

Geert Wilders said “History is being written” and “The sun is shining again”. He emphasised the Netherlands will have “the most strict asylum policy ever”.

Wilders claimed that the simple proposing of measures on asylum will have a demotivating effect on migrants seeking to come to the Netherlands. “I really applaud it, because we are the odd one out in Europe.”

Yesilgöz stressed that liberal “core values stand firm” in the agreement, while NSC party leader Omtzigt noted that the new coalition has more “diversity” than is custom. He said the voters had given a clear signal and that they had been heard. BBB’s Van der Plas said she was happy and spoke of “great allies.”

Trump on Trial: Much Ado About Nothing – Watch out. You’re next

The first witness in the Trump trial was called to the stand on April 22.  Since then, the bulk of the legal eagles dissecting the case, myself included, still have not been able to connect the dots between the stated charges and any evidence in support of them.

Why is that?

A few reasons.

Unlike in “normal” trials with “normal” defendants where the existence of a crime, any crime, is a given, the prosecution here never had a clear plan for proving the most important component – namely, the underlying predicate crime which must exist for any of these thirty-four charges to reach felony status.

In the months prior to jury selection, Bragg clutched a ball to his chest and proclaimed he didn’t need to show that the most famous defendant of his career actually “committed or concealed” another crime – as the very statute dictates – but rather that the former president merely “intended” to commit or conceal some other crime when he authorized payments to his then-lawyer totaling $130,000, calling them, wait for it, “legal fees.”

Bragg is wrong.

It wasn’t until the jury was seated that Bragg’s team finally picked a lane.

In his opening statement, prosecutor Matthew Colangelo — whose resume includes paid political consulting for the DNC, and a stint as principal deputy associate attorney general for the Biden DOJ — looked the jury in the eye and told them he would prove Donald Trump conspired unlawfully to “interfere” with the 2016 election.

The “interference” at issue is Trump’s desire to minimize the damage to his reputation which had been threatened by a salacious story of a gold-digging porn-star and her smut-brokering attorney.

What Colangelo was describing in the quintessential nebula is a low level, state election law violation (one that is, itself, long-barred by the two-year statute of limitations).

There’s just one, small problem with Bragg’s plan.

Of all the ways one can conspire to break this law, defending one’s reputation against extortionist or otherwise embarrassing claims is not on the list. A person never loses the right to buck against reputational injury, whether running for president of the country, or president of the PTA.

Instead, this low-level state election law contemplates a host of other acts one can employ to “prevent or promote” another from public office, such as taking a baseball bat to a polling place, pulling the fire alarm or sending out voting information with the wrong date in hopes the opposing candidate’s people fail to show up.

Unfortunately for Bragg, there isn’t a bootstrap strong enough to overcome one conveniently overlooked point: Donald Trump was not running for dog catcher. Nor was he running for mayor, or even governor of the state. Trump was running for the highest federal position in all the land. As such, New York’s little misdemeanor law does not apply.

Are you with me?

If the underlying “predicate” crime – the one that is absolutely necessary to elevate the thirty-two-would-be-misdemeanor charges to thirty-two felonies — is factually and legally inapplicable, (and frankly, wholly unsupported even if not time-barred), then what are we doing here?

Bragg’s entire prosecutorial strategy is to prove a crime that did not happen, did. And how is he proving it? Well, because he says so, that’s how.

Bragg’s plan all along has been to present an unsubstantiated case before his jury and get them to a guilty verdict simply because Bragg proclaims a series of innocent acts to be criminal. If this doesn’t smack of prosecutorial misconduct, I don’t know what does.

So, what’s next?

Michael Cohen. Cohen is the convicted felon, one-time lawyer to Donald Trump, now disbarred and making a living defaming Trump through a microphone on the regular. He is also the cornerstone of this house-of-cards case.

There is nothing Michael Cohen is going to be able to say to breathe any sort of life into a case that was as dead-on-arrival as this one.

Not because Cohen is a noted liar. Not because he has an axe to grind. And not because he violated his oath of confidentiality to his biggest client ever.

Cohen will not get prosecutors any closer to a conviction because nothing Donald Trump did was a crime. For this reason, it makes perfect sense for the prosecution to save the worst for last.

This case is an abuse of discretion, process and authority at a level never seen. The prosecution is undeterred, and the judge, winking and nodding in Bragg’s direction with every ruling.

If that doesn’t scare the pants off you — then all I can say is watch out. You’re next.

Trans-Identified Toddler Rapist Featured By Women and Justice Project Infographic On “Discrimination” Faced By Transgender People

A toddler rapist is being featured on a website dedicated to female inmates, with his quotes prominently displayed despite his well-documented criminal history of child abuse. Xena Grandichelli, born Jeffrey Willsea, is a high-risk sex offender in the state of New York.

As previously reported by Reduxx, Grandichelli pleaded guilty to 11 counts of sexual abuse involving a 3 year-old girl in 1994, and was initially sentenced to 19 to 59 years in prison, dropped to 5 to 15 years at a later hearing. Upon release in 2014, he was assigned to the sex offender registry and categorized at the highest level, designating him a major recidivism risk and an ongoing threat to public safety.

Yet despite his horrific criminal record, Grandichelli became a highly-regarded trans activist and has spoken at top-tier universities since his release from prison.

In 2016, Grandichelli spoke at NYU on the topic of incarceration and trauma, and led a workshop on trans issues for the National Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender People of Color Health Conference. The next year, he was a panelist representing “women’s experiences of incarceration” at Columbia University, which houses a gender identity program staffed by at least one member and former president of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, Walter Bockting.

Grandichelli has also been presented with an Anti-Violence Project award referring to him as a “Community Hero.”

Notably, he has also partnered with the Sylvia Rivera Law Project (SRLP) and was designated as a Movement Building Team member. In a letter posted to the SRLP website, Grandichelli describes how team members from the organization actively worked to recruit him while he was still incarcerated for sexually abusing a child.

As of May 2024, Grandichelli is still featured by the Women and Justice Project in a dedicated infographic highlighting “The Incarceration of Trans, Nonbinary & Gender Expansive People,” this is despite a recent wave of media attention surrounding his history of child rape.

The page features quotes and data from a number of trans activists and formerly incarcerated trans-identified males. It argues that “trans, non-binary and gender expansive people, particularly Black, Indigenous and People of Color, and especially Black trans women, are targeted, criminalized, and incarcerated at extremely disproportionate rates.”

On the page, Grandchelli is presented as a “trans activist and community organizer,” and is quoted as saying: “[I] break down crying when trying to explain to somebody what it’s like to be in a state prison or Rikers Island and to be physically beat half to death and raped, and misgendered and abused so much that you’re ready to take your own life.”

Another prominent activist credited with helping on the infographic is the ACLU’s Chase Strangio. Despite frequently portraying trans-identified male inmates as vulnerable, the ACLU is currently representing multiple violent male offenders in their demand to either be transferred to a women’s prison or receive “gender affirming” accessories while incarcerated.

Reduxx reached out to the Women and Justice Project for comment on Grandichelli’s continued inclusion in the infographic, but did not receive a response in time for publication.

Migrant knifeman arrested after 6 injured in Swiss stabbing spree; pregnant woman among the victims

The attack occurred outside the Zofingen train station (pictured) on Wednesday afternoon. (Credit: Wikipedia), Claudio Minonzio, CC-BY-SA-3.0

A 40-year-old foreign national remains in police custody in Switzerland after randomly attacking several people including a pregnant woman in the city of Zofingen on Wednesday afternoon.

The attack occurred shortly after 4 p.m. local time, with police receiving calls that a knifeman was rampaging through the street near the Zofingen train station, stabbing people indiscriminately.

It is understood that six people were injured in the spree. All victims were transported to the hospital and are receiving treatment. At least two people were seriously injured.

Two teachers at the cantonal school in Zofingen are understood to be among the injured.

“I heard screaming in front of my shop and then saw a factory employee from the city of Zofingen who was in a scuffle with a dark-skinned man,” an eyewitness told Swiss news outlet 20 minuten.

The brave civilian sustained several injuries as he attempted to restrain the perpetrator after an initial attack on a pregnant woman.

“He had injuries to his neck and forehead,” the eyewitness added, telling Swiss media that an off-duty nurse in the vicinity started giving first aid to the victims while waiting for emergency responders.

Around two hours after the attack, police managed to overpower the knifeman and he was arrested. He is understood to be a 40-year-old of foreign origin and remains in police custody.

According to a spokesman for Aargau cantonal police, the perpetrator did not have any identification documents on him, which is why little is known about him. His nationality has not been disclosed to the public.

He is currently under police guard and receiving treatment in a local hospital. He sustained injuries that, according to cantonal police spokesman Bernhard Graser were self-inflicted.

In an interview with Tele M1, the husband of the pregnant woman explained he had been talking to his wife at the moment she was attacked.

“I was on the phone with her when she saw the man. He said hello to her and then grabbed her from behind and hit her.

“She is still in the hospital and has a swollen face. But she’s doing quite well so far,” the husband said, adding that the child appears to remain in good health.

The local football club, SC Zofingen, was forced to cancel a training session to allow an air ambulance to land on the pitch and treat the victims. They were subsequently airlifted to the cantonal hospital in Aarau around 20 kilometers from Zofingen.

Police restrictions were removed on Thursday after the authorities confirmed that there was no further immediate risk to the public.

Brussels Couple Stabbed to Death by Illegal Migrant

Victim Paul Buyse, killer Mohamed Ritab, victim Muriel Borré

A prominent Belgian artist and his partner were found stabbed to death on Tuesday. The primary suspect is reportedly a 34-year-old homeless migrant they were sheltering at their home in the northern Brussels district of Molenbeek, understood to have been residing in the country illegally for an unknown amount of time.

Paul Buyse, a 63-year-old artist, and his partner and local teacher Muriel Borré died at an address in Avenue Henri Hollevoet in the north of the Belgian capital on Tuesday in what police are describing as a “domestic incident”.

The 34-year-old suspect, Mohamed Ritab, is reported to have turned himself in to the police immediately after the gruesome murders Tuesday afternoon.

Public prosecutor Yasmina Vanoverschelde said the exact circumstances of the slayings were unclear. Other sources recall the couple wanting to help Ritab by allowing him to stay at their home as an act of charity.

Already infamous for the prominence of Islamic extremism and petty crime, Molenbeek—the centre of the city’s Moroccan diaspora community—is no stranger to acts of violence. Late last year, a police officer was stabbed to death in a nearby train station.

Brussels is currently experiencing a migrant-led crime wave, forcing even European Union officials to heighten safety protocols for staff. In October, Brussels garnered international headlines following the murder of two Swedish football fans by a Tunisian asylum seeker also in the country illegally. Some municipal councillors now advocate for the deployment of the Belgian military as the next step in combating warring narco gangs.

Netherlands to Create ‘Strictest Migration System Ever’ as Populist Geert Wilders Forms Government

The Netherlands will finally get the right wing government its people voted for, and some of the toughest border control in the Western World after veteran populist and Islam sceptic Geert Wilders got the agreement of coalition partners to form a cabinet.

Geert Wilders, who has lived under strict round-the-clock police protection since 2004 over threats to his life by Islamists hailed the success of months-long negotiations between four right wing parties in the Netherlands to form a new government. “The sun will shine again in the Netherlands… The Netherlands will be ours again” he said in celebration of the development. The documents were presented to the Dutch King on Thursday afternoon.

Wilders, a former Breitbart News guest columnist, led his party to become the largest in the Netherlands in an unprecedented shift at the national elections last November in a result that sent the establishment centre and left into a tailspin of despair, but fell short of enough seats to govern alone. He immediately entered negotiations with three other parties of the right but diverging views on the political facts of life saw talks break down several times, and concerns that attempts to form a government — and keep the left wing out — could fail.

Now a major 26-page provisional agreement titled “Hope, Courage, and Pride” has been agreed by all four parties, and the task of actually forming a government and picking the cabinet will begin. Here already is one of the major compromises made by Dutch political veteran Geert Wilders, for after so long in the wilderness and now commanding the largest party in the country, he has had to surrender the chance to become Prime Minister himself to keep the other coalition partners happy.

Remarkably, to get around this impasse and make the agreement fair to all four parties, none of them will send their own politicians into government. It appears the ministry positions and Prime Ministership will be held by ‘technocrats’ — non-politicians and typically academics and economists — who would implement the government programme as dictated by the four.

Wilders has promised major reform on immigration, a priority area for his party and for others in the coalition, and the 26-page provisional document makes clear the enormous scope of change to the migration system envisioned, with laundry list of planned changes bullet-pointed. Laying out the ground for a programme that could make any pro-border control conservative envious, the document states in its preamble:

… The Netherlands is one of the most densely populated countries in Europe with [rapid and persistent population growth caused by] migration, which puts pressure on housing, care, education and financial resources, and on social cohesion in our country… Concrete steps are being taken towards the strictest admission regime for asylum and the most comprehensive package to control migration ever. The entire asylum and migration system is being reformed…

With this “strictest regime ever” and the entire migration system being rebuilt from the ground up, the conditions for those migrants and asylum seekers which do actually qualify to stay will be considerably improved, the coalition partners say. To achieve this, the government will announce an ‘asylum crisis’, allowing the use of special powers for two years including suspending the processing of asylum applications, what they call an “asylum decision freeze”, and deporting migrants with no residence permits, by force if necessary.

The Netherlands will deter new arrivals, the incoming government says, by having the “strictest admission rules in Europe”, by housing arrivals in the most “austere facilities possible”, and by immediately deporting migrants found trying to cross the border without permission or without papers back to the other side.

Administratively, the law would flip the present burden of proof required when deciding migration applications, so asylum seekers have to prove they have a right to be in the country, rather than the expectation being the state having to prove that they don’t. The appeals process will be truncated, and rules changed to deport “nuisance” makers, “criminal aliens”, and “undesirable” migrants more quickly. There will be “strict action against violence and nuisance” by asylum seekers who act against women, LGBT individuals, and Christians, they said.

Asylum seekers are just a small part of the puzzle, however, and in common with many other European states — like the United Kingdom — they are dwarfed by legal migration, permitted by lax rules introduced by globalist, open borders governments. This would be tackled with a crackdown on job-visa migration, increasing the requirements on employers to not recruit for low-quality work, and holding employees responsible for migrant workers learning Dutch to a high standard.

Similar moves are planned against misuse of education visas, and family or ‘chain’ migration to get overall arrivals down.

Also featured in the border control portion of the document are policies to protect Dutch culture, beyond strengthening Dutch language requirements. Also in the sights of the incoming government are demands that foreigners who want Dutch citizenship having to renounce their previous citizenship, restrictions on “amplified prayer calls” — such as are issued from Mosques — and imported honour crimes like female genital mutilation and forced marriage.

While all four partners agree on tackling immigration to one degree or another, the influence of the other parties in the coalition is perhaps clearer in the rest of the document’s broad selection of policy areas. The second largest party in the coalition is the centre-right establishment-conservative VVD, the party of outgoing Prime Minister and chief globalist Mark Rutte. The party has already shown a willingness to move beyond the Rutte era and previous dismissal of the idea of working with Wilders in government.

Third largest party is the NSC, a narrow-focus centre-right party which campaigns on improving the quality of politics and governance in the Netherlands, as well as promoting sound money and reducing mass migration. Critical of neoliberalism and strongly anti-establishment, the NSC wants to see widespread political reform to make the Netherlands more democratic, open, and focused on a healthy society.

The junior partner of the coalition is perhaps the most remarkable, given it has gone from being founded to entering government in just one year. The farmer movement BBB was established in direct response to outgoing Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s aggressive implementation of European Union green directives, which threatened to send a wrecking ball through Dutch agriculture for the sake of environmental goals.

The government priorities apportioned to each are clear. To the BBB, the government document declares: “Our farmers, gardeners and fishermen must be cherished, because they are important for our food supply and the Dutch cultural landscape, and are an inseparable part of our Dutch culture”. Cancelling the anti-farm policies of the old government, the coalition announces “There will be no forced reduction of the livestock population and no forced expropriation“.

Other areas of green policy are moved against, including cancelling the controversial forthcoming ban on home boilers for heating, requiring new wind turbines to be built at sea rather than on land, and creating a new generation of nuclear power plants to ensure energy security and bountiful supply into the future.

The agreement promises to keep “the Dutch safe through a robust approach to crime and terror”, while noting “Our democratic constitutional state is threatened by Islamic terrorism and directly undermined by organized crime.” On politics, a major reform of the electoral system is mooted, which would take the Netherlands from a European-style party list system to an Anglo-type representative constituency model, where voters can select an individual to represent their area, not just a party label.

This concession to the NSC would see “the regional bond between voters and elected officials” strengthened and give “more say” to citizens, it was said.

Other important policy areas include increasing homebuilding to address shortages, reforming education including ensuring “teaching methods must be proven effective and politically neutral”, public safety, and the economy.

While it has been nearly six months of talks since the election — although this is not the longest post-election coalition negotiation in Dutch history by a considerable margin, yet — there is still some way to go. The cabinet has to be selected, and a Prime Minister, and as NSC leader Pieter Omtzigt states, this is likely to be another stumbling block. He said: “That is still crucial. If you want a government to succeed, you need a prime minister that unites”.

But the man to be de-facto leader, Geert Wilders, is optimistic. “We have a negotiating agreement, so that is very good news”, he said on Wednesday night before the four parties had signed off on the document agreed by their representatives in the negotiation room, and remarked: “I hope we will get there. I think we will get there. I cannot see it going wrong”.

While the coalition members are clearly pleased, the opposition parties are — obviously — unhappy and have roundly criticised the bid to form a government. As reported by Dutch broadcaster NOS, the centrist Christian Union accuse the document of being built on “shaky foundations, a lot of wishful thinking”, and criticises it for making the Netherlands less generous towards others. Frans Timmermans, the veteran Eurocrat who returned to Dutch politics for this election with every intention of becoming Prime Minister himself, was obviously also downbeat about the paper, calling it “disastrous”.

The Netherlands is one of the only countries in Europe so far with a dedicated political party for Muslims, Denk (‘Think’), who said it was a “dark day” to see the “extreme right” get closer to government. Strong words, perhaps, but not as strong as a Denk party press officer who was caught on camera on election night last year comparing the results to 9/11.

There are also early indications the incoming government will face the same problems encountered by the United Kingdom in its efforts to control its borders, namely asylum lawyers. The plans to tighten controls are contrary to existing Dutch law and the nation’s obligations to international treaties, they are reported to have warned, stating they are certain the policies “will not stand up in court”, says the Association of Asylum Lawyers and Lawyers in the Netherlands.

Such problems can, of course, be overcome — Australia long ago proved that with Operation Sovereign Borders. But it requires some fortitude and determination, as Britain’s government has discovered to its cost.
