Germany Urges Caution While France Throws Support Behind ICC Arrest Warrants For Israel Leaders

Nosta Lgia

France “supports the International Criminal Court”, saying it had previously warned Israel about “strict compliance with international humanitarian law,” in the wake of the ICC announcement that it would be seeking an arrest warrant for Benjamin Netanyahu.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has said it is seeking arrest warrants for several leading Israeli figures including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and their defence minister. In a break with the United States and the United Kingdom, both of which decried the move, France says it is standing behind the court. But there is no European solidarity on the matter, seemingly, as neighbouring Germany — the other pole of power in the European Union — is far more circumspect, asserting Israel has the right to self-defence.

The French diplomatic service responded to the news the ICC was seeking to issue warrants against both Israeli and Hamas figures — creating a moral equivalence between the parties, critics say — by citing the court’s independence as inviolable. They said, Le Figaro recorded: “France supports the International Criminal Court, its independence, and the fight against impunity in all situations.”

France previously condemned the Hamas attack against Israel on October 7th, the communique said, but it ultimately concluded that Israel had failed to heed France’s instructions on how to fight the war.

It continued: “France has been warning for many months about the imperative of strict compliance with international humanitarian law and in particular about the unacceptable nature of civilian losses in the Gaza Strip and insufficient humanitarian access”.

The statement strongly contradicts the British position, for instance, which called the ICC’s move “deeply unhelpful”, and questioned whether it was even legal. Downing Street said, for instance, that it does not recognise Palestine as a state and Israel isn’t a signatory to the Rome Statute which recognises the ICC anyway, so the question of jurisdiction remains.

France’s neighbour Germany — in normal times a steadfast defender of Israel, and especially because of the nation’s Holocaust history — didn’t go as far as Britain to outright dismiss the ICC development, but was circumspect and challenged the court to produce evidence.

“The allegations made by the chief prosecutor are serious and must be substantiated,” Berlin said according to Die Welt.

Germany also asserted its position that Israel has the right to self-defence “against murderous attacks” under international law and that it expected the court to “take significant account of the fact that Israel is a democratic constitutional state with a strong, independent judiciary”.

Under the Trump Presidency, the United States had levied sanctions against the ICC, which had claimed jurisdiction over U.S. soldiers fighting in the war against terrorism. These sanctions were revoked by Biden, in the apparent hope that it would lead to rapprochement. However, on Tuesday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the U.S. would consider bringing back the measures in response to the “profoundly wrongheaded decision” against Israel.

Two-thirds of unemployment benefit recipients in Germany are migrants as cost to taxpayer skyrockets by 122% since 2010

Nearly two-thirds of German residents receiving unemployment benefits have a migration background, new figures from the Federal Employment Agency have revealed.

The statistics published by the federal agency and cited by the Die Welt broadsheet showed that 63.1 percent of those in receipt of the so-called citizen’s income, or “Bürgergeld,” are of migrant origin, and “most do not have a German passport.”

The German newspaper explained that while employment figures are increasing year-over-year, “because the Federal Republic has long allowed very high immigration of low-skilled people, the number of migrants who are unemployed and receiving social benefits is also increasing.”

The figures define “migration background” as anyone who themselves or whose parents were born without German citizenship, i.e., first- and second-generation migrants.

Of the 3.93 million people eligible for the taxpayer-funded benefit as of December 2023, some 2.48 million were classed as being of a migration background, with 1.83 million recipients not having German citizenship.

The percentage varies considerably among the federal states. In Hesse, Baden-Württemberg, and Hamburg, more than 7 in 10 of all recipients are migrants at 76.4 percent, 74.1 percent, and 72.8 percent, respectively.

There exists a strong correlation between the rise in the migrant population and the percentage of welfare benefits going to migrants, giving weight to the argument that mass immigration of low-skilled workers is not a net benefit to Europe’s largest economy.

In 2013, the percentage of the German population with a migration background was 20 percent, with 43 percent of benefit recipients being migrants. Today, 29 percent of the German population are foreign-born and 63 percent of unemployment benefits are handed to migrants.

In July last year, a response by Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs Anette Kramme to a request made by the Alternative for Germany MP René Springer revealed that the number of German recipients of welfare benefits had halved since 2010, while the number of foreign nationals receiving payments had doubled.

The cost to the taxpayer has skyrocketed since 2010, with a 122 percent increase on the €6.9 billion bill then to around €15.4 billion a year today.

Springer said at the time that Germany desperately needed to implement “a restrictive immigration policy that effectively prevents immigration into our social systems. The citizens’ income introduced by the federal government, on the other hand, acts like an immigration magnet.”

Coddling rapists who pretend to be female is turning public opinion against the transgender movement

Last November, a tweet from J.K. Rowling caught my eye. It was her comment on the decision of an Australian court to mandate that the ‘preferred pronouns’ of people identifying as transgender be used as a “matter of respect” to ensure “public confidence in the proper administration of justice.”

As Rowling noted: “Asking a woman to refer to her male rapist or violent assaulter as ‘she’ in court is a form of state-sanctioned abuse. Female victims of male violence are further traumatised by being forced to speak a lie.” Indeed, forcing a woman to refer to the man who abused and raped her as ‘she’ seems a particularly grotesque form of gaslighting.

As I noted at the time, the phenomenon of sexual assault victims being forced to refer to their abusers as female is an almost unique form of cruelty—and yet, press story after press story reveals that this cruelty is still occurring. A heartbreaking story in The Sun titled “My male rapist claimed to be a woman so cops, lawyers & judge all called him she – it’s unfair, only men can commit rape” by Julie Bindel is particularly harrowing.

The ugly tale unfolds on the Channel Island of Guernsey.

Bindel recounts the story: “It was early summer in 2021 when 17-year-old Freddie Trenchard invited Anna, 14, into his home. He reassured her his mum and her boyfriend were there. At the time, Anna [not her real name] had known Trenchard for two years. Once she was in his room, where she thought they would watch TV, he started touching her thighs and waist. ‘I repeatedly told him to stop,’ says Anna, crying and shaking as she recounts the horrific events.’”

Anna told Bindel that like so many other young men, Trenchard was inspired to sexual violence by pornography. “But he forced me to have sex,” Anna said. “He wanted dominance over me. He was choking me, and doing things men see in porn…I’m bleeding…it was so painful…I was sat on his bed, I was crying, I was holding the sheet over me, I was hysterical.” Her rapist told her to “leave before she made more fuss.”  When his mother asked her, as she limped past, if she was alright, he interjected: “She’s fine.”

She was shoved out the garden gate, which he closed behind her. Anna went home, threw away her clothes, and told a friend about the assault several days later. Seven months after that, she told her sister—but not her mother. Her mother found out when she found out that Trenchard was “chatting up one of her best childhood friends” and Anna posted “He’s dangerous, stay away from him” on social media. A screenshot was sent to her mother and in February 2022, she reported him to the police.

At this point, an already horrifying story got worse. From Bindel:

Trenchard is now 20 and goes by the name Alyssa Christine Trenchard — although he has neither changed his name legally nor had surgery. When he raped Anna, his only physical step towards transitioning had been to wear women’s clothes. Yet at the time of his arrest, Guernsey Police recorded him as a woman. This set the tone for lawyers and other legal professionals to describe the attack as having been committed by a “transgender female” with “her penis”. And by specifying in court that Trenchard was “biologically male” at the time of the rape, the prosecutor implied that by the time of the trial this was no longer true.

Trenchard appears to be a porn addict—not surprising for someone of his age. Pornography probably has much to do with his decision to identify as transgender, as well—as Bindel reported, “even though Trenchard has revealed [on TikTok] that he becomes sexually aroused when referred to as ‘Miss’, Judge Catherine Fooks agreed at the outset that all court officials should call him ‘Miss Trenchard.’”

When Trenchard was referred to as a “transgender male,” the judge actually “reconvened the court after proceedings has finished” in order to apologize to him and assure him that the court record would be changed and he would be referred to as a “transgender female”; Anna, understandably, refused to refer to her assailant as “he” at any point. Trenchard’s lawyer, however, “claimed sexual intercourse had not taken place and the victim as motivated by transphobia.”

“[This is] the dirtiest trick, to actually refer to somebody as bigoted,” Anna told Bindel, emphasizing that she doesn’t really care if someone identifies as transgender and has friends that identify that way. “I don’t have a problem with that at all. But only men can commit rape. Why pretend otherwise? All he had done was start dressing as a woman. The worst thing was that in court he was trying to use the fact he identified as a woman to say he should be treated like a woman, [and that] he knew the struggles of being a woman. How dare he?”

Anna continued: “When he says, ‘I’m a woman’ but then rapes someone, it’s unfair against the trans people who are genuine, and against women…His penis raped me, it was attached to him. He controlled it.” As a result of her assault, Anna became depressed, anxious, and even self-harmed. The fact that the rape had been her first sexual experience haunted her, as well. “That’s not what my first time should have been like.”

Trenchard, Bindel reported, was convicted of rape on July 28, 2023, and has been sentenced to three years’ youth detention. He will be quartered with the males at night.  Despite the sentence—the jury’s guilty verdict was unanimous and reached in less than an hour—“Trenchard was then released for three months pending sentencing,” and the judge “gave him the maximum sentencing reduction possible,” and at sentencing probation services insisted that Trenchard was “unlikely to commit any other offence”—presumably, Bindel notes, “because he now claims to be a woman.”

Stories like this are a key reason that public opinion is turning against the transgender movement. Trans activists claim that their movement is about tolerance. The reality, however, is that the rights—and safety—of women and girls are being sacrificed to pander to the mental illnesses of men. Stories like this, we were told, would never happen—and that even bringing these things up is to reveal transphobic paranoia. They are wrong.

‘The Lion Is Back, Surfing on Socialist Tears’: Online and in the Streets of Spain, Support for Argentina’s Milei Is Growing, After Criticism of Corruption by PM Sanchez’s Wife (VIDEOS)

Argentine President Javier Milei is on a roll: inflation is shrinking, the Peso is the best performing currency in the world. As he said: ‘We went from discussing the possibility of hyperinflation in December to talking about mortgage loans.’

And now, he is taking his fight against communism to Europe, to their old colonial power, Spain.

Watch: Triumphant entry of Milei in Vox’s rally in Madrid.

Milei is back in Argentina after his triumphant participation in the Vox rally in Madrid, in which he called the wife of the Spanish Prime Minister ‘corrupt’:

“HELLO EVERYONE…!!! THE LION IS BACK, SURFING ON A WAVE OF SOCIALIST TEARS… LONG LIVE FREEDOM DAMMIT”

Milei gave a fiery speech against communism and socialism that reverberated in Conservative circles around the world:

“Socialism hides the worst of human nature, which is envy, hatred, resentment, and, if necessary, murder. Never forget that the damned socialists murdered 150 million human beings.”

Milei also encouraged the ‘cultural battle’: “Let’s go back to defending the values that made the West great: life, liberty, and property,” he urged.

But it was the criticism of the corruption inside the Prime Minister’s family that is causing controversy.

Milei accused Begoña Gómez, the wife of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, of being “corrupt” during an event organized by the Vox party

“What a bunch of people who got into power. Even when he has a corrupt wife, he gets dirty and takes five days to think about it.”

‘I will be at the front!’ — CDU mayor endorses mass Antifa-led protests outside AfD party conference and cannot guarantee the safety of AfD members attending

Self-proclaimed anti-fascist activists are planning to protest outside a conference held by the populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) party next month in Essen, and the local CDU mayor appears to have endorsed the disruption.

Antifa groups have been drumming up support for bus trips to Essen on the “Widersetzen” website for weeks, calling for left-wing extremists from across Germany to gatecrash the party conference scheduled for June 28 to 30.

It will be joined by a “broad alliance” of radical left-wing and extreme left-wing groups to protest against the anti-immigration party and Essen’s Mayor Thomas Kufen (CDU) wants to lead the charge.

“There will be a “huge wave of protest, and I myself will be at the front,” he promised TV station WDR. In the run-up to the event, he had tried unsuccessfully to cancel the rental agreement between the AfD and the venue.

The mayor and the threat against the AfD party conference

The head of the city also predicted that “public order and safety may not always be guaranteed” — a rather implicit threat against the well-being of conference attendees at the Essen exhibition halls.

In the immediate vicinity of the venue, the city is now hoping for 80,000 demonstrators from all over Germany and abroad to show the AfD that it is — as the mayor puts it — “not welcome”. In addition to Kufen and Antifa, the mass protest has also been called for by the Young Socialists, the Green Youth, the Alliance for Open-mindedness, Solidarity, Democracy and the Rule of Law, “Essen stellt sich quer, Aufstehen gegen Rassismus,” and various left-wing groups, trade unions, and churches.

Protests within earshot of the exhibition hall

According to the website of the far-left VVN-BdA, there will be a total of “170 individuals and representatives of organizations and initiatives.” In addition to various rallies and vigils, there will be a “market of opportunities” and concerts over the three days. The organizers and possibly also the Lord Mayor are currently trying to attract well-known music bands so that even more counter-demonstrators will come to Essen.

It is important to everyone involved that the protests take place within sight and earshot of the AfD party conference, organizers said. There will also be “means of civil disobedience.” For the delegates, this could lead to a dangerous gauntlet being thrown down — especially as the head of the city does not want to guarantee “public order and safety.”

Scottish Green Party Backs Transgender Candidate “Sophie Sparkles” In Upcoming Elections

The Scottish Green Party has backed a trans-identifying male candidate with a disturbing social media history in the upcoming UK parliamentary elections. The candidate, known as Sophie Sparkles or Sophie Molly, is notorious for using women’s changing rooms, campaigning for childhood medical transition, and reporting critics to Police Scotland for alleged “hate crimes.”

Molly, formerly known as Euan Weddell, is a musician and trans activist set to run for the newly-created constituency of Gordon and Buchan. Molly recently gained attention after declaring that a book dedicated to women’s fight against gender ideology was “deeply transphobic” and put “the safety of all trans people at risk.”

But the scrutiny of Molly’s candidacy has resulted in the resurfacing of one of his social media accounts, where it was found that he engaged in aggressive and disturbing behavior. In addition to sending abuse directly to JK Rowling, including calling her a “torn faced cow,” Molly posted pornographic photos of himself and fetishistic descriptions of his body.

Rowling herself began highlighting the highly unprofessional nature of Molly’s online presence after becoming a target for the candidate over the weekend.

But this is not the first time Molly, posting to social media as “Sophie Sparkles,” has gained notoriety on social media.

Earlier this year, Molly began reporting X users to the police for “hate speech,” celebrating the much criticized Scottish Hate Crime and Public Order Act, which broadened the definition of “hate speech.” Molly anticipated the Act was a welcome opportunity to criminalize his opponents.

Molly would regularly share announcements of various police reports he claimed to have lodged, including those made against TV writer Graham Linehan. He would also write cheery songs on his reports, publishing the videos of him reciting the lyrics to his YouTube Channel. One of the songs is titled “Browsing for Hate Crimes.”

He also authored a Change.org petition to “make deliberately misgendering someone a hate crime,” which he shared to X encouraging others to sign in order to “wipe the smirk [off] JK Rowling’s face.”

Molly is polyamorous, and is in a “polycule” with multiple other men. One of his partners is fellow Green Party member Heather Herbert, who recently attracted criticism after taking photos of himself dilating in public after his recent “gender reassignment surgery” operation. The term ‘dilating’ refers to the insertion of a rod into a surgically-constructed “neo-vagina” in order to prevent the wound from closing.

Herbert snapped a photo of himself lying on the floor of the disability-accessible toilet stall at Gatwick Airport, which he posted publicly to X. Disgusted and dismayed at the sight, users described it as a public display of a “fetish” and inconsiderate of persons with disabilities who require the use of the facilities.

Similarly, Molly has publicly posted fetish photos of himself wearing nipple clamps to his Facebook page. Acclaimed Irish comedy writer Graham Linehan, who has expressed opposition to the Greens’ support for Molly, shared multiple such images of the trans activist beginning in March.

In response, Molly claimed to have filed a police report against Linehan for “sharing revenge porn designed to humiliate” him, despite having publicly shared the photos on his social media pages of his own accord.

“I’m really concerned that [police] won’t want to proceed with the case because it’s a celebrity and they won’t take me seriously because I’m not famous and a trans woman,” Molly said in a post on March 10. “I need hugs.”

Molly frequently wears clothing typically associated with young girls, including a bow in his hair, and can be seen clutching a plush teddy bear in media uploaded to his Instagram account. Linehan has taken note of the disturbing nature of Molly’s overall childish appearance and demeanor, resulting in Molly’s repeated complaints of being a victim of “transphobia.”

Linehan told Reduxx that while he was not contacted by police following Molly’s alleged report, he believed that the trans activist was “disturbed” and should not be permitted to use women’s facilities.

“Euan is a great example of the kind of disturbed man who should be kept far away from women, not suddenly given license to invade their private spaces. Abusive, obsessed by porn, vindictive and not very bright, he fits right in to the Scottish Greens,” Linehan said.

Linehan suggests that Molly has been campaigning solely to self-promote and antagonize those he disagrees with. He has reportedly been demanding sums of money from journalists who wish to interview him and insisting that various public figures call him a woman. Among those figures are SNP MP Joanna Cherry, whom he has accused of being in a “hate cult” and has threatened to report her to the SNP if she continues to ignore his tweets demanding she call him a “woman.”

The trans activist has also appeared to support the transfer of dangerous male convicts into women’s prisons on the basis of a self-declared gender identity. While posting an article about women’s rights campaigners in Edinburgh protesting the transfer of men into women’s prisons, Molly wrote, “Women Won’t Wheesht not transphobic, says Rowling.”

Some of the demonstrators held signs reading “rapists have more rights than women,” in a reference to the notorious case of trans-identified male Isla Bryson, previously Adam Graham, who was sent to a women’s prison last year after being found guilty of raping two women.

Molly’s other campaign aims are to remove any rules that would protect single sex wards in NHS Hospitals, declaring: “I want the proposed ban on trans women from female wards to be immediately scrapped.” When fellow users replied to his assertions and asked him to agree that in health care “sex matters,” he replied: “No it doesn’t. End of.”

Shockingly, this is not the first time a Green Party in the UK has promoted transgender candidates known for their disturbing content.

Another notable Green Party candidate, a man who calls himself Melissa Poulton, has described himself as a “proud lesbian” who shared erotic “sissification” content online. When Poulton was criticized, he accused his political opponents of “transphobia.”

As previously reported by Reduxx, Conservative Party MP Rachel Maclean was slammed by her political opponents after she shared a post from Reduxx co-founder Genevieve Gluck which referred to Poulton as a “man who wears a wig.” Maclean commented on the post, writing: “While the Greens don’t know what a woman is, my Worcestershire neighbours, the people of Bromsgrove certainly do.”

Another prolific trans activist Green Party candidate, Aimee Challenor, also a trans-identifying male, was allowed to run for deputy leader while employing his father David Challenor as his election agent, despite the latter being on trial for child rape. The Green Party was accused in 2019 of not correctly vetting Aimee Challenor for the political appointment, and his father David Challenor was subsequently jailed for 22 years for his crimes.

White whistleblower at trans health clinic suffered ‘racial hostility’ after speaking out

Dr Lynne Amidon, 71, had flagged concerns over child safeguarding and “neglect” at the Tavistock clinic PA

A whistleblower at a controversial NHS gender clinic has taken the trust to court over racial discrimination after claiming she was subjected to “aggression” from its director when quizzed repeatedly about “what she thought racism was”.

Dr Lynne Amidon, 71, had flagged concerns over child safeguarding and “neglect” at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust – which left her signed off work sick with stress.

Dr Amidon had raised concerns 18 times between July 2021 and October 2022 – but in retaliation to her probes, she claimed, the Tavistock then pursued a months-long investigation into her conduct, which she slammed as “clandestine”.

Though she had been told the trust’s investigation would last just four weeks, the Tavistock then looked into her for 18 months – which she described as a “deliberate move… to ensure the ‘process is the punishment”.

The trust’s investigation into Dr Amidon was headed up by Hector Bayayi, the former clinical operations director at Tavistock’s Gender Identity Development Service (Gids).

And the probe only came to a close at the end of March this year – on the same day Gids was closed for good amid the Cass Review’s findings that the clinic’s model was “neither safe nor viable”.

But after bringing the trust to court at a Central London employment tribunal, Dr Amidon has accused Bayayi of being “hostile and aggressive” while interviewing her as part of his investigation.

She says that during a meeting, Bayayi asked her: “What do you think racism is?” three times, to which she replied that she believed it “to be discrimination based on race or colour” – which she claimed prompted him to become “increasingly aggressive”.

A week after the meeting, Dr Amidon was signed off sick from work and had even been diagnosed with a disability related to “physical symptoms of stress” which the investigation had caused.

Though the trust did not pursue formal disciplinary proceedings against her, Dr Amidon was made to undertake “re-education” classes in the wake of the probe.

And now, she is claiming damages against the trust for racial discrimination or harassment, alongside the alleged harm she suffered as a whistleblower.

Dr Amidon said she had tabled a race claim because she was “treated less favourably because [she] was white”.

But Tavistock denies her claims, insisting it had made “genuine attempts” to deal with safeguarding concerns she flagged.

Bayayi – who will give evidence at the tribunal tomorrow before its conclusion on Friday – accepts he made the comments to Dr Amidon, who is white but denies claims they were racially driven.

Dr Amidon, a consultant psychotherapist, had whistleblown on a number of social care cases in her local authority – Camden, in North London.

The cases included social workers withholding documents from a child’s headmaster because they contradicted the worker’s views – Dr Amidon said that a team leader at the trust “shrugged off” the notion of reporting this to the worker’s manager – and children being “inappropriately” removed from their father’s care.

The whistleblower is now seeking crowdfunding to help support her legal costs at the tribunal – and has so far raised over £5,700 from members of the public.

UK Regulator Targets Right-Leaning GB News; Mainstream Broadcasters Escape Scrutiny

Empics

Britain’s broadcasting regulator has threatened to sanction the right-leaning GB News television channel, citing its “repeated” failure to “preserve due impartiality.” The decision has prompted critics to ask how the body can justify this continued pursuit while turning a blind eye to the “bias” of more mainstream channels like Channel 4 and the BBC.

Ofcom’s latest investigation into GB News accuses the broadcaster of breaking impartiality rules during a Q&A programme with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in February this year. Many, including former GB News presented Dan Wootton, criticised Ofcom’s decision to potentially sanction the channel “for allowing viewers to question Sunak.” In fact, the regulator’s complaints relate to the broadcaster’s alleged failure to allow audience members to “challenge the prime minister’s responses,” adding that “the presenter [also] did not do this to any meaningful extent.”

But even veteran broadcaster Andrew Neil—who despite (or perhaps because of) his short stint as the channel’s chairman is now one of its largest critics—said Ofcom had “chosen to die in the wrong ditch” by focusing on this Q&A programme, which he described as “a decent enough attempt from a new broadcaster.”

Arlene Foster, the former first minister of Northern Ireland who is also a GB News presenter, has written a scathing response to Ofcom’s threat of sanctions, insisting that the regulator ought to be paying more attention to the left-wing biases of the mainstream broadcasters. Foster wrote in the Express:

Other regulated output on other stations seems to be given no attention at all.

How many times have you tuned in to BBC Question Time only to turn it off as the audience is so biased that it is painful to pretend it is representative of the British public?

Then there is Channel 4—they have failed to achieve any semblance of impartiality for years and yet OFCOM is silent in the face of it all.

Former UKIP leader-turned-(another) GB News presenter Nigel Farage also said that “you can listen to [BBC] Radio 4’s ‘Any Questions?’ on a Friday and hear a one-sided audience with an unbalanced panel.”

GB News’ many critics, who started boycotting the channel before it was even given the chance to launch, are only too pleased by this continued pursuit. In fact, many are frustrated only that Ofcom—which has so far merely threatened undefined sanctions—isn’t acting more quickly. One Green Party voter and marketing consultant described the regulator’s threats as “word salad nonsense,” adding:

Starting to think about possibly doing something is a far cry from actually doing something. … A newborn baby has more teeth than OFCOM.

Ofcom says that it will “aim” to conclude its considerations of possible sanctions within 60 days.

Rape in Pakistan: Women continue to feel insecure amid insignificant conviction rate

In a shocking incident, a girl in Pakistan’s Sheikhupura committed suicide just five days after she was gang-raped by security guards in a hospital, an episode highlighting the uptick in crime against women and the hopelessness for justice in the South Asian country.

This particular case remains concerning since the victim was visiting  Children’s Hospital Sheikhupura to inquire about the health of her niece when three security guards gang-raped her.

In February this year, in the heart of Islamabad at Fatima Jinnah Park, a 24-year-old woman was raped by two armed men who separated her from her male companion and assaulted her at gunpoint.

The victim was also told by her assailants that she should not venture out late (the time was around 8 pm) in a park.

Protests soon broke out as women tied their dupatta to the railings of the park, demanding justice and protection.

There are several such cases reported from Pakistan in recent times which raise concern and demand immediate action from the new federal government despite reforms in rape laws and a judgement recognising marital rape as a crime.

Dawn News, a leading Pakistani newspaper, reflected on the questionable state of the country’s law and order system, especially concerning women’s safety, when it wrote in its editorial titled ‘Plague of rape‘: “Despite legislation to thwart the scourge of rape, over 80 pc of suspected sex offenders in the country are acquitted because of deficient investigation, weak prosecution, out-of-court settlements and pending cases in the lower courts.”

The newspaper’s piece mentions the corruption within the police, which also limits the scope for the women of the cash-strapped nation to highlight their plight.

No wonder a survey released in 2022 showed a woman was raped in Pakistan every two hours, highlighting the unsafe condition of women in a country that also witnesses honour killing.

The survey, conducted by SAMAA TV’s Investigation Unit (SIU) based on data collected from the Punjab province’s home department and the Ministry of Human Rights, also found that the conviction rate in the country stood at a dismal 0.2 percent.

“Newly collected and compiled data showed that as many as 21,900 women were reported to have been raped in the country from 2017 to 2021. This meant that around 12 women were raped across the country daily, or one woman every two hours,” said the survey as quoted by the media.

Another report by the advocacy organisation War Against Rape (WAR), which quoted data from the Punjab home department and ministry of human rights, mentioned that 21,900 women were raped in the province between 2017 and 2021.

The statistics showed chilling data that, on average, 12 women are raped daily, or one woman is assaulted every two hours in Pakistan.

However, the advocacy organisation believes these figures represent only the tip of the iceberg due to various barriers survivors face, including stigma, fear, victim-blaming, and systemic biases in the justice system, reported The News International, quoting WAR’s data.

The report also showed how early marriage of children remains a significant human rights violation in Pakistan, accounting for around 18 percent of women in the country.

The report mentioned approximately 19 million child brides still exist in the country.

According to a Human Rights Watch report this year, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) estimates that 18.9 million girls in Pakistan are married before the age of 18 and 4.6 million before 15.

Many married girls are forced into dangerous pregnancies at a young age and pregnancies that are too closely spaced. Women from religious minority communities remain particularly vulnerable to forced marriage. The government did little to stop such early and forced marriages, it said.

There is hardly any hope of a change in the situation in the nation that elected a new government just a few months ago unless legal and procedural anomalies and societal prejudices are addressed.

Highlighting the measure that the government should implement immediately to keep their daughters safe, Dawn News’ editorial concluded: “There should be no space for either out-of-court settlements, payments to poor victims and families, or victim blaming.”

Why are climate extremists suggesting that ‘deniers’ should be sent to jail?

Lightspring/Shutterstock

Comedy environmentalist Jim Dale and Dale Vince have both suggested that climate “denial” should be a criminal offense. It gets them clicks and attention on cable and mainstream news, and it plays into a wider push by green billionaire-funded lawfare outfits using the courts to enforce Net Zero industrial shutdown. But it begs the question: what are the climate “deniers” actually denying? Dale is a climate campaigner who points to bad weather as evidence that the climate is collapsing before our very eyes. But the evidence suggests no such thing. Data since 2000 show that there has been no increase in extreme weather, no increase in loss of life, and no increase in economic costs.

The Emergency Events Database (EM-DAT) is a U.S. government-supported tracker of mass disasters as well as health and economic impacts. It lists 26,000 disasters worldwide from 1900 to the present day. Dr. Matthew Wielicki, a former geology professor, has compiled data from this source and they provide no evidence to support the claim that “extreme” weather is on the rise.

Dr. Wielicki suggests that the recent decrease in perceived climate urgency and importance among the American public, especially young adults, as shown by the recent Monmouth University poll “may be influenced by an observable lack of escalation in the direct impacts of climate change.” Such data can lead to skepticism or reduced concern, he adds.

It seems that the lack of evidence drives the alarmists further and further away from scientific reality in their desperation to promote Net Zero. Last week’s absurd survey of 380 “top scientists” by the Guardian found climate modeler Ruth Cerezo-Mota wailing that it was almost impossible not to feel “hopeless and broken” after all the flooding, fires and droughts of the last three years. Biologist Camille Parmesan was so fearful she almost gave up what she called climate science 15 years ago to become a nightclub singer. Now she says all the scientists she works with are at the end of their rope “asking what the [f***] do we have to do to get through to people how bad this really is.” Engineering Professor Jonathan Cullen states the climate emergency is already here because just 1°C of heating has “supercharged the planet’s extreme weather.” Millions of people have “very likely” died early as a result, he claimed. Lorraine Whitmarsh is an “environmental psychologist” at the University of Bath, and worries about the future her children are inheriting since climate change is an “existential threat” to humanity.

The Guardian article was written by Damian Carrington, one of the green billionaire-funded lobby group Covering Climate Now’s three journalists of the year in 2023. This operation pumps out ready-to-publish climate catastrophe copy to media outlets worldwide. Carrington polled over 800 lead authors or review editors of all reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) since 2018. He received replies from 380 authors, but as with all IPCC (and Guardian) reports, the definition of “climate scientists” is very broad. Carrington describes Professor Lisa Schipper as an “expert on climate vulnerability.” Schipper notes that she is “particularly interested in socio-cultural dimensions of vulnerability including gender, culture and religion, as well as structural issues related to power, justice and equity.” Ralph Sims of Massey University says extreme weather events will escalate and there will be environmental refugees by the millions. Sims’s first job in academia was as a lecturer in agricultural machinery.

Meanwhile, back to the science, and the problem – the giant elephant in the room no less – is that the IPCC gives almost no credence to talk of a climate crisis based on observable bad weather patterns in the past and looking forward to the end of this century.

The above table published in the latest IPCC assessment report reveals this clearly. It shows there is little or no evidence that the following have been, or will be by 2100, affected by human-caused climate change: river floods, heavy rain and pluvial flooding, landslides, droughts (all types), fire “weather,” severe wind storms, tropical cyclones, sand and dust storms, heavy snowfall and ice storms, hail, snow avalanche, coastal flooding and erosion, and maritime heatwaves.

Far from living in a time of climate collapse, we appear to be enjoying a benign spell in an interglacial period. A little extra carbon dioxide, rescuing the Earth from possibly dangerous denudation, and a gentle rise of 1°C in temperature from the Little Ice Age, has boosted plant growth around the world. Evidence continues to be produced showing substantial CO2 greening of the planet including desert areas. A recent paper Chen et al. 2024 found that COgreening had actually accelerated over the last two decades.

The people spinning the tale of climate collapse – some of them advocating jail time for dissenters – are hysterical, but deadly serious. Ask Gianluca Alimonti, an Italian physics professor, whose paper stating a climate emergency was not supported by the available data, was recently retracted by Springer Nature after a year-long campaign by activist scientists and journalists, including Graham Readfearn of the Guardian. The Alimonti paper, which also included the work of two other physics professors, found that rainfall intensity and frequency was stationary in many parts of the world, and the same was true of U.S. tornadoes. Other meteorological categories including natural disasters, floods, droughts and ecosystem productivity showed “no clear positive trend of extreme events.”

Only a fool would consider arguing that climate contrarian scientists should be sent to jail, as Dale did with Andrew Doyle last Sunday on GB News’s Free Speech Nation. Alas, the transcript of Dale’s comments does little to clarify his argument – it’s just word salad gibberish for the most part. But his intention is clear. Time for “deniers,” whatever they are supposed to be denying, to be marched off to jail. The sad thing is that he is not alone – Dale says it is “common sense,” which, as Doyle observed, is the refrain of every tyrant in history who’s wanted to jail his opponents.
