English Heritage has been blasted as “totally misguided” after branding Hadrian’s wall a “gay icon” as the Emperor, whom the wall is named after, enjoyed several gay relationships.
Academics rushed to mock the conservation charity for its claim with experts accusing the organisation of trying to be “hyper trendy”.
The 1900-year-old structure, which marked the border between Roman Britannia and unconquered Caledonia, was built by the empire to protect Britain from the “barbarians” north of the border.
Addressing its members in an email, the company sent an article highlighting that Emporer Hadrian enjoyed several gay relationships despite being married and that the monument is a “symbol of England’s queer history”.
They also outlined the history of Hadrian’s lover Antinous, who was born in modern-day Turkey.
English Heritage said: “To understand Hadrian’s Wall, you have to understand the Roman emperor who built it – his career, his life and the times in which he lived.”
Academics took aim at the charity following the email, accusing the organisation of “reading history backwards”.
Professor Frank Furedi, author of the upcoming book The War Against The Past, accused English Heritage of trying to appear “hyper trendy”.
Furedi told MailOnline: “English Heritage appears to be in the business of reading history backwards and discovering LGBTQ culture in the most unlikely places.”
Jeremy Black, an emeritus professor of history at Exeter University, added: “The idea that Hadrian’s Wall is an exposition of what can be seen as queer history is totally misguided.”
However, other experts disagreed with human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell saying it was “important that this hidden history is revealed”.
National Museums Liverpool writes that “Although Hadrian was married, ancient sources reveal that he also had several homosexual relationships.
“Homosexual relationships were not considered unusual in ancient Rome. A Roman man was free to choose sexual partners of either gender so long as he remained the active partner in any sexual encounter.
“It was therefore common for Roman men to enter into sexual relationships with younger men.”
The museum added: “Hadrian became enamoured with Antinous, a younger man renowned for his beauty and invited him to join his tours of his Empire.
“In AD 130 Antinous drowned in the river Nile and Hadrian was devastated. Reports said that Hadrian wept for him ‘like a woman’. Hadrian mourned Antinous’ death intensely and publically rather than in private as was custom.”
“Statues of Antinous were built throughout Hadrian’s Empire, he was deified (worshipped as a God), and a new city named Antinopolis was founded near the site of his death.”
English Heritage also lists several other sites as being linked to England’s “queer history” including Chiswick House, Walmer Castle, Farleigh Hungerford Castle, Eltham Palace and Rievaulx Abbey.

“There must be leadership, not pandering or appeasement,” said PM Sunak at the end of a speech on Friday in which he summed up his inability to lead by pandering to the Left and appeasing the forces of increased division.
The prime minister chose to speak following the election of George Galloway as member of parliament for Rochdale, a victory Sunak described as “beyond alarming.”
Galloway claimed to represent Palestine at the polls, at the expense of his former Labour Party colleagues who slowly withdrew support from Azhar Ali, their official candidate, after hearing a recording of his antisemitic comments. While ‘Gorgeous’—now renamed ‘Gaza’—George chased the Muslim vote successfully in Rochdale, it also expressed the wider electorate’s lack of belief in the Labour-Conservative duopoly.
In his speech, Sunak lamented that since the October 7th attack on Israeli citizens by Hamas terrorists, Britain has “seen a shocking increase in extremist disruption and criminality.” He said that the subsequent conflict has been used “to advance a divisive, hateful ideological agenda” in the UK, alluding to—while avoiding naming, until late into the speech—pro-Palestine protests.
Following months of MPs being threatened by Islamist extremists—prompting chaotic-looking changes to parliamentary procedure—in a shameful yet predictable untruth, the PM chose to equate Islamists “spreading a poison” with the “far-right,” in a bogus quest for balance.
“Which ‘far-right groups’?” asked writer Paul Embery, adding: “The British far-right has never been more impotent. What is he going on about?” Social Democratic Party leader William Clouston noted that Sunak would recognise the truth in Embery’s observations, but “doesn’t feel able to call out Islamist extremism alone without uttering a false equivalence with [the] ‘far right’” because he is “weak.”

While reports may show increasing abusive behavior towards British Muslims—coinciding with the Hamas pogrom against Israel—it is clearly not the same as the spike in Jew-hatred/antisemitism, flowing in the opposite direction from Islamists.
Interestingly, when describing the “poison” extremist groups are spreading, Sunak discussed a number of techniques used by the radical Left, such as telling “our children that they cannot and will not succeed because of who they are” and that “Britain is a racist country.” But he—the nominal leader of Britain’s ‘conservative’ movement—didn’t once, in his 10-minute speech, mention corresponding ‘far-right’ techniques.
Sunak’s main failure, however, was surely not addressing the role played by two decades of unfettered mass immigration—kick-started by Labour but wilfully continued by the Conservatives, most recently by Sunak himself—as behind the increasing social division.
Certain commentators, key among them Mail on Sunday columnist Peter Hitchens, have argued for decades that ‘multicultural’ ideology and policy has, by its very nature, prevented integration from taking place. Moreover, refusal to control numbers defies what most voters have repeatedly requested.
The PM even insisted that “our Britain must not be a country in which we descend into polarised camps with some communities living parallel lives.” In many parts of the country, this is sadly already the case, exactly because of his actions and the actions of the Labour and Conservative ‘leaders’ who came before him.
Historian and broadcaster Rafe Heydel-Mankoo jibed that Sunak’s speech may sound tough to some in the mainstream media, but that is only because “they’re only just waking up to the horrific reality of mass immigration from incompatible cultures, and they remain painfully naive.”
Ben Harris-Quinney, chairman of the small-c conservative Bow Group think tank, added that the subtext of Sunak’s speech was:
I’ve presided over record levels of legal and illegal immigration … we are seeing the inevitable results … Rather than take responsibility, I’m going to use it as an excuse to increase state surveillance powers and curtail free speech.
This strikes at the only consequential point of Sunak’s speech; that it marks the impending introduction of new restrictions on freedom of expression. He said that no amount of disgust with Britain’s political system can justify “any kind of hatred,” the definition of which he avoided making. Adding, for example, that the government will now “demand that universities stop extremist activity on campus”—again without divulging what exactly this means—it looks like speech will be in government crosshairs, whereas voters would prefer a crackdown on violence, not least antisemitic intimidation.
After failing repeatedly to meet his own legal and illegal migration targets, the Conservative Party leader concluded that “we will also act to prevent people entering this country whose aim is to undermine its values.” But the rapid drop in the number of votes for establishment parties in recent by-elections might well suggest that by and large, the electorate doesn’t believe a word from either the Conservatives or Labour—especially when it comes to immigration.
Deadly family feud in Magdeburg: On Sunday morning, an argument between several people escalated and ended in a bloodbath. Two of those involved are dead, three others were injured.
The Magdeburg police homicide squad is currently investigating the circumstances. According to information from newspaper BILD, the people involved are Azerbaijanis who got into an argument on Oldenburger Straße at around 4.40 am.
“All of the people are related to each other by family,” said police spokesman Stefan Brodtrück. According to BILD information, the fatalities are said to be a 42-year-old woman and a boy (9). Three other children are injured: a boy (17) and two girls (13, 15).
Police spokesman Brodtrück told BILD: “According to the current state of the investigation, an 18-year-old is said to have attacked other people with an as yet unknown object during the course of the altercation.”
It is unclear why the brutal fight broke out and what weapon was used. The suspected killer was arrested near the scene. The injured were taken to a clinic. According to the police spokesman, there was no danger to uninvolved third parties.
Investigations are currently taking place at the crime scene. The area has been cordoned off, the police and forensics are on duty. The other family members, witnesses and emergency services are being given counselling.

A visibly identifiable religious Orthodox Jew was stabbed in the Selnau district of Zurich, Switzerland. The incident occurred on Saturday evening shortly after the Sabbath concluded, according to the local Jewish community.
Zurich police stated a 15-year-old assailant stabbed the 50-year-old victim, who was in critical condition. An investigation was launched into the incident as a suspected hate crime, including “the possibility of an anti-Semitic motivated crime.”
An eyewitness, quoted by the local Blick news site, “the assailant laughed when he was arrested.” And further reports indicated it was a hate crime, during which the assailant shouted “death to the Jews” during the attack.
The Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities (SIG) said the Jewish community’s security arrangements were being reviewed after the attack, “It is assumed that there are no further threats to Jewish individuals and institutions at this time. Nevertheless, all members of the Jewish community are called upon to exercise caution until further notice.”
“The SIG is deeply shocked that a member of the community has been the victim of such an attack. Physical attacks on Jewish people in Switzerland are very rare. Over the past two decades, the Jewish community has been spared such life-threatening assaults. However, since October 7, there has been a significant increase in this type of physical assault,” the federation added in its statement.
The Swiss Office against Anti-Semitism and Defamation (Cicad) published figures which showed an anti-Semitic incidents in French-speaking areas of Switzerland increased by 68 percent in 2023, half of which occurred after October 7. Other regions in Europe suffered from a dramatic triple digit surge of antisemitism since the Hamas-led massacre and the ensuing war in Gaza.

Star Trek and Star Wars to the contrary, so far as we know, there are no other planets in the universe capable of supporting life as we know it on Earth. Earth has a unique combination of attributes that make life here possible, chief among which are the perfect amount of sunlight, accessible water, and CO2. Those three ingredients grow the plants that start every food chain. But caught up in climate change madness, leftists are determined to do away with all three.
We’ve long been aware of the war on CO2 because the leftists have decided that humans’ increased reliance on hydrocarbons, especially coal and petroleum products, is creating deadly “anthropogenic climate change.” Aside from the fact that our ability to harness hydrocarbons has improved human life in the last 150 years beyond all recognition (including making chattel slavery unnecessary and leaving us with a world in which obesity, not famine, is the greatest risk to human health), there’s other evidence that CO2 is unrelated to the climate.
The two most obvious are that the amount of CO2 in our atmosphere is infinitesimally small and that the IPCC and others routinely ignore the sun’s role in the earth’s climate. I also like to note that the greatest known periods of global warming—the end of the Ice Age, the Medieval Warm Period, and the end of the Mini-Ice Age—all preceded increased human carbon dioxide output.
What we have here is an erroneous diagnosis of a normal phenomenon. It’s like saying that a black person’s dark skin is, in fact, a disease. And once you have wrongly defined normalcy as a disease, the proposed “treatments” can only make things much, much worse. In the case of that hypothetical black person, the quacks might recommend dangerous skin bleaching, skinning the person alive, starving them of all nutrients, or any other crackpot ideas to “cure” the “disease.”
The same thing happens in the case of a ludicrous consensus holding that the earth is sick because people are producing food, warming and cooling themselves, and otherwise engaging in improving the quality of their lives. It’s worth noting at this point that the more that people benefit from hydrocarbons, the more they have the excess wealth that allows them to limit pollutants, which do despoil our environment.
So far, in their drive to decrease CO2 (i.e., plant food), leftists have engaged in the now-familiar attacks on hydrocarbons, cows, and human reproduction. That, though, was thinking small. Now, they’re thinking big, with big names and big money.
Bill Gates and Harvard, for example, want to increase pollution to block the sun’s rays:
Microsoft’s billionaire founder Bill Gates is financially backing the development of sun-dimming technology that would potentially reflect sunlight out of Earth’s atmosphere, triggering a global cooling effect. The Stratospheric Controlled Perturbation Experiment (SCoPEx), launched by Harvard University scientists, aims to examine this solution by spraying non-toxic calcium carbonate (CaCO3) dust into the atmosphere — a sun-reflecting aerosol that may offset the effects of global warming.
Considering that the historic sun patterns show that we’re entering a grand solar minimum (“GSM”), this attempt to block whatever rays we can receive should terrify us. As Anony Mee has written in accessible detail, the GSM is a predictable phenomenon associated with extreme weather events, drought, and famine. Humans do not thrive during GSMs.
This isn’t the only big idea the climate changistas are spouting. The newest idea is to “dehydrate the stratosphere”:
Scientists have been pondering whether intentionally drying the Earth’s stratosphere could be a way to tackle the climate crisis (other than, y’know, stop burning ridiculous amounts of fossil fuels).
When people talk about greenhouse gases, you probably imagine carbon dioxide and methane, two of the most problematic emissions pumped out by human industrial activity. However, natural water vapor is actually the most abundant greenhouse gas and traps a huge amount of heat in the Earth’s atmosphere.
In a new study, scientists at the NOAA Chemical Sciences Laboratory question whether it would be hypothetically possible to cool the Earth by dehydrating the stratosphere, the upper part of the atmosphere, to remove this heat-trapping water vapor.
The true aqua vitae (Latin for “water of life”) is not spirits. Instead, the water of life is, in fact, water. No water, no life. And these crazy people, during a time when the earth will be drier because the GSM locks more of the world’s water in ice, want to “dehydrate the stratosphere.”
And mind you, these aren’t just random lunatics: They work at the government nuthouse known as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which received $6.2 billion taxpayer dollars last year. Incidentally, Tony Heller likes to point out that NOAA repeatedly messes with old climate records to cool the past and warm the present.
The building blocks of life are sunlight, CO2, and water—and our government and the powerful and wealthy plan to do away with all of them. Humans have fallen prey to dangerous mass delusions before, and never more so than when they give themselves god-like powers. Still, it’s impossible to imagine one so dangerous and delusional that it risks destroying all life on Earth.

Under pressure, she had to change her mind and give in. An Algerian restaurant owner from the 11th arrondissement of Paris had to give up selling alcohol in her establishment under pressure from very aggressive internet users. “I think the biggest problem is that she sells alcohol”, “Why are you serving alcohol in an Algerian restaurant?” or “Alcohol = no trust in halal” were just some of the comments on a social media video about this restaurant. The result: a few days later, the restaurant manager declared that she would no longer sell alcohol in her restaurant.
“You have to realise that our restaurant has a history because we used to be a franchise,” explained the restaurant owner. “I had decided to stop long before the video because it wouldn’t do me any good,” she continued, saying she would now try to “make good food”, i.e. without alcohol. The X account “On Manque Quoi” applauds the decision: “Some have criticised the alcohol on the menu, but she has assured us that she has removed it”. “We have taken care to remove the alcoholic drinks from their menu,” the account explained. The power of social networks then cancelled out this Algerian restaurant owner’s initial decision to sell alcohol in her establishment.

The Church of England has sparked backlash after posting a job for an anti-racism official who will be tasked with the mission of “deconstructing whiteness”.
This week, the Church of England Dioceses in the West Midlands announced that it is looking for an “anti-racism practice officer” who will be paid £36,000 per year.
The posting stated that the position would entail identifying “internal and external resistance to addressing issues of anti-racism in a way that develops understandings of equality and positions everyone to take an equal role”.
Additionally, the job would include developing a consultancy for clergy and others to help “engage in challenging institutional and individual racism and facilitate the development of channels through which this can happen.”
The anti-racist officer would join an 11-person team devoted to ensuring that “structures, practices and behaviours throughout our Church and churches embrace people of GMH (Global Majority Heritage) and UKME (UK Minority Ethnic) backgrounds and enable them to flourish.”
The CoE said that the team will be devoted to “deconstructing whiteness” and “sharing theological insights informed by our cultural origins”.
The Church drew condemnation for the apparently anti-white job posting, with Reclaim Party leader Laurence Fox questioning: “Why does ‘Whiteness’ need ‘deconstructing?’ Is there something wrong with white people? Doesn’t the bible say that we are all made in the image of God?”
“Why are the Church of England in league with the other bloke? The one with the horns,” Fox added.
The Church has taken a radical left turn under Archbishop Justin Welby, including on issues surrounding gender, migration, and climate change.
The Church has been increasingly active on racial issues following the re-emergence of the Marxist Black Lives Matter movement following the death of George Floyd in the United States. For example, while the CoE officially apologised in 2006 for its historic role in the slave trade in 2006, Welby orchestrated a second apology during the height of the BLM protests.
Archbishop Welby has personally protracted himself before the woke movement, previously apologising for having come “from privilege and a place of power as a white person in this country”. However, the Archbishop has yet to vacate his position in favour of an ethnic minority clergyman.
